I'm honestly impressed that you could beat the Nameless King with throwing knives, I bet Lemon from the Backlogs would be proud, since he couldn't do it with fire bombs only
imagine being a legendary warrior so ancient time has lost your name, and some pretzel-looking guy in a loincloth just walks up and throws 120 knives at you and your wyvern, ending your legend right there
Ah, dammit JK... I was hoping you'd forget that the crow quills even existed. But you didn't and then you simply chose not to use them. I mentioned before that I started this same playthrough a year and half ago, but then didn't continue with it because it lost the audience vote for the final video before Elden Ring's release. After that I just never came back to it. But back then, crow quills were my secret weapon to make every single boss in the game viable given that it's an unlimited resource. So I thought about putting it back on my list if you wouldn't be able to defeat both DLC's, so that I could then succeed by using the crow quills. But you did consider them after all and didn't use them intentionally, which makes that idea fall a bit flat... Crapalicious... you're evidently more perceptive than I thought you were... how very disappointing 😞But it's to be expected that doing 3 knife related runs has sharpened your senses. So perhaps you are the sharpest knife in the drawer after all. Well... suppose it's a good thing because the crow quills actually really suck with terrible damage and they have an annoying spread out hitbox and their throwing animation is this awkward leaping animation (and for some reason applying bleed, frozen weapon or poison to the weapon has no actual effect on the quill darts) so using it against the DLC bosses would be a massive pain to begin with. Still, makes me feel a bit sad that my evil plan seems a bit dull now. Could I perhaps get a therapy session from you next time?
Well now you've made me want to try Crow Quills only even more 😁 Sorry to steal your thunder there, my chap. My office is always open, happy to return the therapy favour... I live on the ground floor though so we'll have to come up with an appropriate substitute to the 40 story drop 😂
Love the Xenoblade and Persona songs in the background! Very impressed with your Nameless King kill, that dude took me the longest to kill on my first playthrough and that was with normal gear and weapon. Good job! Impressive tenacity all around really, these kinds of runs are not walks in the park.
When I saw the 8 damage on Vordt I thought this was impossible - the run was a dance one razor's edge but in the end, you were a cut above the challenge. Though I still can not believe how blade-end-ly the thicc fog gate stole your win from sister Friede, you deserved that one!
Knife to see there’s still some challenge being made about this masterpiece of a game, Ds3 is really a cut above the rest and the gameplay is the sharpest, most responsive of the 3
Great video! Could you have "savestated" before even triggering Friede's fight, while the fog wall isn't there yet, and dropped the knives inside the room maybe?
I used to suck at fighting Nameless King but for whatever reason during my last playthrough something clicked and I destroyed every single boss including Midir which is the hardest boss to me.
That was very impressive and I even learned something new (I didn't know about possibility to pick up items from outside of Boss arena). Great job! Seeing pretty good result with only knives, I feel encouraged to try beat my favourite Boss (Friede) with only consumables.
A run with the DLC weapons would be cool, especially the crows feet. Maybe a Follwers javelin wepon arts only? Even when you run out of blue you can still throw the javelin.
Crow's Feathers should totally count towards this challenge, I think. I reckon it'd make more sense than leaving bags outside the gate, since it isn't an exploit.
For the "leave a set at the fog wall" trick - I did something like this! in DS2, I dropped several bags off NEAR the bonfire, THEN cleared the boss run, and ran a bunch to move bags one by one. So I only had to beat the enemies once. Except, in DS2, I think the bags persist if you die? Not sure if that works in DS3.
GG for the run. For Friede, there is a tactic used in bow only runs: in phase 1, when she is invisible and prepares her "big attack", if you land an headshot she staggers, but she stays in that position, so you can headshot her agin and again until she dies. Check Ymfah's video (DS3 bow only) at 16:10 I don't know if that would work with knifes, but if it does, she would be doable.
Great run, great video! Huge congratulations on the Nameless King victory!! Going in I thought that fight couldn't be done, but you gave me a welcome surprise; you were really a cut above the rest! 🤣🤣

You could make an Elden Ring throwing knife only. In that game there's a good variety of different throwing knives. (Regular ones, Kukris, Fan daggers, and three you can craft, being another regular throwing knife, poison knives and a magic one, i din't know if i'm forgeting any kind of knife).
theres always more knives! and WELL DONE on this run. i despise these inventory limits in DS3, bloodborne, and Elden ring, but even trying to contend with them you managed incredibly well. I cheered when you downed mr. nameless.
20:26 ik you failed the strat, but hiding only works in phase 2, in phase 1 the arrows are more at an angle and still hit you, whereas in phase 2 they fall straight down
The exact motivation I needed to continue trying to punch my way through the final DLC. Though you'll understand if I don't request your therapist's information.
I'd love to give this video more than one thump up for the music choice alone (Ethan Meixsell and Persona 5 especially), even if have to start another P5 playthrough thanks to you :(
Seeing you take a stab at this challenge had me on edge, but you really are a cut above. Such a sharp and honed performance, and I can only imagine the practice grind left your sanity walking a razor's edge! In short, knifely done!
You gotta be the sharpest tool in the shed to try this run! Thankfully, you were able to nick by Any%; shame you just couldn't cut it on the DLC bosses :(
Actually you could use a purging stone to go back to human and still have yuria around, she just gets mad if you cure the dark sigil that you get from leveling up with Yoel, which you can only truly remove it with the firekeeper after you give her the firekeeper soul
