The cross in the end actually exists. It's located somewhere near Ypres in Belgium. It's a memorial for the christmas truce and was put there in 1999. the actual cross reads: 1914 The Khaki Chums Christmas Truce 1999 85 Years Lest We Forget
The message is really important right now, that our humanity is more important than our differences. As I've been saying in comments it's not just another Christmas song, it's the most important Christmas song in decades. By the way the soldiers that gets hit by the greanade is Hannes(sorry if I misspelled) Sabaton's drummer and Floor Jansen's husband. That's Floor singing in the credits. Great reaction!
So, I just recently stumbled upon your reaction, couple fun facts you may not know, Joakim was actually hired as the keyboardist, and agreed to do the vocals until they found a replacement. Joakim has said himself "They are still looking, those lazy bastards!" Also, if I'm not mistaken, I dunno about the video, but I know Joakim (and probably Par) took something like 3-4 years writing this song as i was so special to them that they didn't want to screw it up.
What an Amazing Christmas song by SABATON. The lyrics and the music inspire you. And the video. It's also a piece of history. You can learn a lot. It's very emotional😭 And at the end the voice of FLOOR from NIGHTWISH makes it extra beautiful..💫 This is a Gift for Christma ☃️🎄🕊 We are all..... We are all..... We are all..... We are all..... FRIENDS 🤝🤝 For me the Christmas song of the year 2021....💫 A little PEACE and Love for Everyone🌹 This was beautiful, and let's remember a moment here, when it's Christmas. Often FORGOTTEN, unfortunately 😪Thank you this was AMAZING. Love from The Netherlands ❤🤍💙🇳🇱🙋🏼♀️
Gotta remember they're European. While it is the Christmas Truce, they aren't really releasing it ahead of time, because for them the 11th of November isn't veteran's day, it's Rememberance Day. So perfect timing to drop it.
It's also Remembrance Day in Canada. I believe the US is the only country that doesn't observe November 11th as Remembrance Day, out of the nations that do observe that day
@@kingsnake8992 Yeah, we're kinda weird. Love y'all, and I apologize for being one of the worst neighbors ever. We will get intoxicated and fire guns for absolutely no reason. And someone is trying to mate an alligator with a chicken because the baby might taste great with hot sauce.
with a Sabaton twist: "It is a soundalike, something often done when you want to evoke the mood of a particular song without actually using it. Carol of the Bells starts G-F#-G-E, G-F#-G-E. On this he`s playing E-B-C-A, E-B-C-A"
@@MustaLaatta listen to how the melody changes at the very end. He plays their modified melody until the last two measures, when it resolves into the actual Carol of the Bells. Amazing earcandy
Sabaton is the best history teachers. They bring to life and make you experience what people who were caught up in great events went through. Here when the War was to be over by Christmas 1914, instead the soldiers sat in frozen mud and snow and longed to be home for the Holidays. Men on both sides found their humanity (something as a vet who fought is the hardest thing to hold onto) and for a little while over came the insanity. Sadly it didn't last and never happened again as the generals made sure of that as the War dragged on for another 4 years. While this is a Christmas Song nonetheless it is also a memorial to 11/11 the Day to Remember all the lost, a special day for all veterans who remember their fallen buddies who are at peace hopefully while we carry on the insanity and never seem to learn from these great events in history. The 18th century military tactics met 20th century weapons and the slaughter was on. These men knew all to well that they likely would never make it home again but they celebrated in No Mans Land and for a while humanity reigned on land that would continue to be soaked in blood for years to come. The video is great, the song I love and Floor's Aria at the end is haunting like a true Valkyrie collecting the souls all across No Mans Land.
Imagine Trans-Siberian Orchestra Christmas Eve Sarajevo transiting into Sabaton Christmas Truce 🔥 P.S Floor Jansen Hannes Van Dahl's wife does the vocals for the end credits

Hi Randi. Just a quickie, I'm not sure if you're aware or not of Sabaton having uploaded a 4 part series called the great interview. Full of tasty info, as well as seeing the band interact off stage. TTFN.

The piano melody that Jaokim is playing is from the famous Christmas song "Carol of the Bells".
Ahhh. I thought it sounded a bit familiar. I listed to a version of that each Christmas season (Trans-Siberian Orchestra)
