Sabaton are essentially modern day bards. They sing in memory of people (White Death, 82nd All the Way), Historic Events (Primo Victoria, Bismarck), and things that should never be forgotten (Final Solution, The Last Stand), stories that aren't that well known (The Last Battle, No Bullets Fly). These are just a small sample of their music.
@@bescotdude9121 So, what specific differences are there between the two? I only know about bards through western rpgs, I'm not familiar with the scandanavian version.
There are some surviving letters from soldiers on the front when the truce happened. One from a Corporal Renton, presumably to his parents went as follows : "“I never thought we would spend Christmas the way we did. We were in the trenches on Christmas day. On Christmas Eve the Germans in front of us started singing what appeared to be hymns. We were shouting for encores (their trenches are only about 150 yards in front of us), and they kept the singing up all night. On Christmas Day some of them started to shout across to us, to come over for a drink. It started with one or two going over half-way and meeting the Germans between the two lines of trenches; then it got that there was a big crowd of German and British, all standing together shaking hands and wishing each other a merry Christmas. They were giving us cigars and cheroots to exchange for cigarettes and some of them had bottles of whisky. They seemed a decent crowd that was in front of us. They were all fairly well dressed and the majority of them could speak broken English. Some of them could speak it as well as myself. They said they were not going to fire for three days. They kept their word too: there was no rifle fire for two days after Christmas. There were two dead Frenchmen between our lines. We could never get out to bury them ‘till that day. The Germans helped us to dig the grave. One of their officers held a service over the graves. It was a sight worth seeing and one not easily forgotten; both Germans and British paying respect to the French dead."
That cross in the last scene with the words 'Lest we forget' is a real place. They don't know who planted that cross down but they do know that's means forget about our differences because we're all friends.
"When we celebrated Christmas, we thought about our friends, those that never made it home when the battled had commenced" Saddest line in the whole song
You both are right. But I think Floor’s ending really makes this video truly a special masterpiece. My eyes were sore from the tears when I first watched it. I won’t lie, lol.
I was a bit perplexed by Kira's reaction to Joakim's voice at first, but then I realized that if you've never heard him sing before I suppose it can be a bit out of place/unexpected with how gruff and rough he sounds hehe :) Don't get me wrong, I've been a fan of Sabaton since the early days of Primo Victoria and the Attero Dominatus album. They're great 🙂 Jocke's voice isn't exactly what you expect out of a ballad though 😄
I was actually more surprised that she didn’t know about the actual event that happened back then… But yes, his voice is simply amazing. I have many of their songs in my regular playlist
I don’t use the word ‘hero’ very often, but those poor men deserve nothing less than the title of hero. The fact a Christmas truce even happened, two sides stopping the (at the time) largest conflict in human history to share stories and have a laugh for just one day, is absolutely remarkable. We should all strive to show that level of compassion and humanity to our fellow man, that even in the darkest of times, we can still come together.
The best (or maybe saddest, depending on how you look at it) aspect of the Christmas truce is that it was unsanctioned. It wasn't the idea of the officers. Instead, the grunts on both sides essentially mutinied to go "eff this, we are extending an open hand towards the enemy because they are people just like us, even if this truce is temporary, come what may".
Please react to "En Livstid I Krig (Live from Gothenburg)" by Sabaton. Just make sure to have the captions on. The most beautiful song they've ever made.
As someone already said, Sabaton are like the bards of modern times. They sing songs that tell stories of war and the ones who fell. They've done tons of them, and they never take sides. Hearts of Iron, Soldier of Heaven, No Bullets Fly, Night Witches, Gallipoli, Steel Commanders (they absolutely go nuts when tanks are involved), the list goes on. They're a fantastic band, and I wouldn't know half of what I know of history if I'd never found their music.
Somehow I feel that her laughing at the start, was not the appropriate reaction to such a song, altough I can understand that she didn't expect his voice to be like this. The first thing that came to mind when she laughed, were people that laugh at a funeral 😅 BUT her teary eyes at the end made up for it. That is the reaction I wanted to see to such a song. Nevertheless I want more Sabaton reactions from you 😄
No, that laugh pissed me off and got me out here. But then I thought to my self, Forgive them, they are Americans and americans are known for less knowledge about other countries and historical events.
@@Northman-from-the-North or you could blame it on the smash cut from a somber scene to an inch away from someone's face. You know, instead of blaming her for "being american." You have to admit it's a jarring transition
@@Northman-from-the-North If you want to diss on Americans, please do better than that. We’re not the “hon hon” crowd to become offended at someone poking at us, people do it all the time.
There are a couple of songs from Sabaton that show that there are good people. There are more than this but Hearts of Iron, The Last Battle, and No Bullets Fly come to mind. I recommend the animated videos for the latter two as they provide some context before and after the song.
This is a true story in a war with a lot of dead people and it shouldn't be laughed at. It doesn't matter if it's just a video. 9.5 million soldiers alone died
Great Reaction, Sabaton sings about Military History from many time periods and has their own "Sabaton History Channel " on youtube. the Blonde German soldier is the drummer and he is married to Floor Janson the current lead singer of Nightwish and singing the end credits here) for more on this topic there is a decent movie (2005) "Joyeux Noel" (Merry Christmas) shows the German, French & British (well a Scottish unit) , this took place Unofficial during the 1st year of the war by the soldiers at the front and they also used the time to bury the bodies of the dead. sadly when word of these events got out many units were punished and relocated to other sections of the line were the fighting was more savage. and then they made sure on holidays they would launch attacks and such. but the war took a turn and got more deadly esp once GAS started to be used in 1915 some soldier tried to repeat the event of 1914 but were shot. also Sabaton History put out a eps. covering the story of this event - ua-cam.com/video/LJq64dF5ZfQ/v-deo.html also Paul mccartney covered this topic in 1983 with his song & music video "Pipes of Peace"- ua-cam.com/video/TwyFTRGiIUU/v-deo.html
These two people are the most American people I’ve seen. This song and video was what made me more interested in Sabaton. Now I have a playlist full of their songs. I really like their idea of bringing historical events to life. When I heard this song for the first time, I cried several times during the day, listened to it many times and basically cried myself to sleep. I don’t fully understand why it evoked such strong emotions in me, but it certainly helps that the song and video are so well made.
Imagine being used to all the killing. The smell of death. The disturbing visuals. The point of not making deep friendship, because next morning they are gone. And then, there's a moment of peace in a war that never ends. You must react to the Sabaton song "No Bullets Fly (the animated STORY version) "
She's so confused over the concept of a music video. They've been around for quite a while, miss. Lol. Always great seeing you guys check out Sabaton, though. Great music and a history lesson.
Watching this you almost forget that you are watching a music video, but it's just looks like a movie wich is their strongest asset of them. Sabaton is just a great band
Kira really touched a nerve. And sometimes the music really helps it come out. Sabaton are the masters of emotion; but remembering this moment in history, this one day in the four years of horror that was that war, really puts the parallel to today. Circumstances are by no means exact, and I don't say they are.... but it's been a century since. Lest we forget.
This reaction from one of the reactors is like when I went to a movie theatre in Thailand and saw, Saving Private Ryan". The uneducated Thai´s were laughing as one of the US soldiers had his arm blown off and then was looking for it.
Justto add some context that makes the moment more beautiful. The truce wasn't a large truce across the front, many places didn't have a truce. But many did, they were NOT sanctioned by command and many people were punished for it. But independently all across the lines, groups agreed to stop fighting all on their own. In some place they held memorials for those dead and took time to bury the dead, some places exchanged POWs, people swapped food, sung carols and played games. Watch the sabaton history channel video on it for more info, really worth it.
You must listen to Sabatons A lifetime at war..the Swedish live version En livstid i krig from The Great tour in Gothenburg..its awesome!..Hasse from Sweden🤘
I think the event did prove that humans can put aside their differences and get along, even in the most despairing moments. It's something we should learn from and reenact whenever and wherever we can.
Blond "Soldier" is Sabaton Drummer (Hannes van Dahl) and hes wife (Lady who sings outro in this one,,,, and make you gry !!) is Lead vocalist in band Nightwish, Floor Jansen worlds best most versitale female vocalist Today..... EVER !! check out Nightwish/Floor *Ghost love Score* Wacken festival 2013 live !! (And have a FLOORGASM !).
That one kicks you right in the feels and it takes no prisoners, that story is so touching, and the fact that they got to meet and become such good friends after all those years are just fantastic.
Yes! Sabaton is a great start to get into European Metal Bands. Next step and the deepest rabbit hole you can imagine is Nightwish with "Ghost Love Score" live from Wacken 2013. You have heard Floor's (NW singer) vocals at the end of Christmas Truce. NW will blow your mind completly. Promised.
As I heard the story, the British were singing Christmas carols in their trenches on Christmas Eve, and in a moment of silence they heard the Germans caroling in _their_ trenches. Curiosity got the better of a few British soldiers who walked over, the Germans reacted to them with equal curiosity, one thing led to another and the Christmas Truce became one bright spot of WWI.
Shout out to the amazing vocals during the credits by Floor Jansen, lead singer of Nightwish, wife of Sabaton drummer Hannes Van Dahl, and our Valkyrie Goddess. Her vocals really help deliver the emotional impact of the song.
I'm sorry, but it shows the lack of history where she asks; is this from a film, is it real?" At least do some prep for what you're going to review? She sounds like a total dork! Let alone the cinematic, editorial and other production qualities, which to me are well worthy of if not an Oscar then whatever is available.
The weather finally clears after weeks of rain and muck, you stop shooting at the movement in the trench across from you. Slowly people take the clear weather as a sign that now the dead can be recovered from No Man's Land. Suddenly you hear singing from the other trench. You join in at first just to show them up that you can sing louder and better than them. Suddenly it slowly stops being a competition and becomes a united chorus. Someone on the other side suddenly calls out, "if you no shoot, we no shoot." Men begin to come out of the trenches. Both sides meet, shake hands, in broken language barriers, they exchange Christmas greetings. Excess cigarettes and chocolate are traded. Fresh socks and scarves pass around. You see even two officers exchange hats. A football appears and is kicked back and forth between two teams, some keep scores some don't. This carries on into the night. A soldier from the other trench is chatting with you, showing you a picture of the girl he wants to marry. You show him a picture of your own sweetheart in waiting. You both laugh at how lucky the other is to know such a beauty. Suddenly an officer steps in and stops the games, orders the men back into the trench, and fires three warning shots into the air. The people disperse, and you give one finale goodbye to the man you spent the last couple of hours getting to know. 12 hours ago the war was over, there were no French, English, or Germans, just men enjoying a moment of peace. Now, the thunder of artillery echos, rifles crack, grades send up clouds of dirt. As you aim your rifle, you look out for your friend, wondering if he's dead or if he's aiming at you. You raise the barrel above the trench line and fire a bullet into the abyss above the line of men. You then notice the men around you are also deliberately aiming high, as if you avoid the other men. When Command learns of what happened, you're rotated out of the front, sent to a more inhospitable front, where there was no Christmas Truce, and all you can hope is a kinder fate befell your friend from the other trench.
Love to both of you. Sabaton honor soldiers and people by telling stories of war history and its awfulness. They have created so many masterpieces and this one is just amazing. Suggestions for songs to react on. No Bullets Fly Bismarck 82nd All the Way (Alvin York from Tennessee) En Livstid i Krig (A Lifetime of War) To Hell and Back (Audie Murphy) PTSD There's so many great songs in their collection.
Honestly the part at the end legit brought me to tears. Like a wise man once said: "The sleep of reason gives birth to monsters!" We're all better than this.
He actually ment the exact oppsite, his phrase was "the dream (as in goal or project) of Reason gives birth to monsters" He wasnt saying that the absence of reason created monster, but that reason itself could create monsters
Since you reacted to this magnificent, sad song I would recommend another sad, depressing song by Sabaton - the Price of a Mile, about the battle of Paschendale -one of the most pointless battles in WW1.
sabaton writes songs about historic battles and the heroes who fought throughout history. they have so many great songs, ranging from emotional songs like this one about some of the lowest points of human history, to fast songs about especially courageous acts of valor or badass last stands. the song that got me into them is Panzerkampf, about the german invasion of the USSR, and eventual defeat and retreat. screaming eagles is another great one about the 101st airborne division of the us army. they saw action both on d-day, operation market garden, the battle of the bulge among other battles.
This video gets me every time I watch it (which has been many, many times till now). This truce was probably the most honest and sincere Christmas: A short moment of humanity in an inhuman surrounding. But then, when the fighting continues the next day, it shows the cruelty and madness of mankind in the most obvious way. It's sch a sad moment. And if I am not at least close to tearing up, Floor will give me the rest with her incredible voice at the end.
I’ve heard this song so many times and I’ve been meaning to listen to it. Watching you guys react to this was really good especially at the end where Kira was giving us her thoughts. These days it feels like the world is becoming more and more vitriolic and no one can seem to have rational discussions. But as Kit said, there are a lot of good people. On the internet it might seem like everyone’s tearing each other down but I know I’ve met a lot of nice people and many of them I would call my friends. Basically I guess what me and Kit are saying is to have hope that things will hopefully get better and to always hold the ones closest to you in your heart ❤️. Let’s make this year a good one ✊
I have a collection of reactions to this song, it is up to about 160 channels so far, so that I can just start it playing next December and have more or less endless loop of the song.
Struggled a little bit to this reaction. I feel that the lady a bit disrespectful laughing and giggling even after the Gentleman had explained the story meaning to it.
You would think that she would be able to deduce from the name of the song and the trenches that it had to do with something with Christmas and World War I
As someone who grew up along side the internet, came around in my early teens, I learned very early on what it was and could be, so I sont really engage much at all in any social media, and yea it was calmer in its younger years.. was more camaraderie back than but OFC there were vindictive people, trolls, scammers, but ppl were generally not used to the anonymity.. they were still human, we still are just it's far more broad now..
Check out Sabatons new video Soldier of Heaven, also En Livstid I Krig live in Gothenburg outstanding gives you goosebumps. Sabaton are from Sweden and they write all their own songs. I've learnt more about history from Sabaton than from school. This was based on ww1 Christmas Truce. My husband's grand father was in the trenches, he never spoke about what he seen.
Great reacrion! This song is second (after Soldier Of Heaven which I highly recommend you to check out and Steel Commanders that I also recommend) most epic and sad one that I've heard from Sabaton. And it always makes me cry, especially in pre refrain, refrain and solo with bagpipes parts. Keep up the good work, Chicago React and Greetings from Russia. And BTW, this Cross, that they used in the MV and in the end of the MV is a real monument, that was installed in 1995 on the battlefield, where the Christmas truce was happen.
Sabaton has been preparing for this song for several years. Literally a few years thought how to write it. They invited a reconstruction group from the Czech Republic to make a music video. The cross at the end of the video still stands in France today. The operatic aria at the end is sung by the star of the metal band Nightwish - Floor Jansen. Privately, wife of Sabaton drummer Hannes Van Dahl
Fantastic reaction guys. Kira teared up as soon as Floor started to sing during the final credits. That is totally expected. Please try a reaction to Sabaton Soldier of Heaven. This is another fantastic video and song..
Just your reactions hit my UA-cam feed. I love the way you reacted, the way you looked at the screen, and seen your faces expressing that kind of feeling's, cheers from NYC. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
i like how the girl has no idea whats happening and is just swaying her head happily to the music while the guy beside her is already on the verge of tears
So glad you stayed for the credits. I'm like, you're stone faced during the shooting at the start, but then at the opera style ending the tears flow. And like you said, we're all people. This song/video could move the coldest heart.
The Christmas Truce of 1914 is one of those stories that restores faith in Humanity. It is said that on Christmas Eve 1914 (roughly five months into WWI), British soldiers heard their German counterparts singing Stille Nacht, a.k.a. Silent Night, and then started singing along in English. From there, soldiers came out of the trenches and celebrated Christmas together. It wasn't an official truce, but multiple smaller truces, some that lasted up til New Years. Sabaton, and I am fairly new to them, is a Swedish metal band (the exact subgenera of metal is harder to pin down) who tend to make songs relating to military history. This is part of their upcoming album on WWI.
Kira, im not gonna lie, when i first heard you compare sabaton to a musical, it kinda upset me, until you mentioned how much you love musicals.. i personally have never liked musicals, and prejudged that, and for that, i am sorry. I just want you to know, you and kit, are honestly my favorite reactors on this channel, nothing wrong with the others, but you guys were the ones that made me sub. Sabaton has always held a deep place in my heart since i first found them, and im thankful kit was here to guide you through the first time listening. You arent alone in being surprised by the lead singer, Joakim’s, voice. My mom always says “turn that viking off” lol. Sabaton is all about honoring those who served, reguardless of nationality, or what role they were in. The ballad of bull, tells of a combat medic for example if im not mistaken, that carried soldiers out of a live fire zone. Over a dozen. You guys keep on keeping on, and ill keep supporting you. Much love from the state to the west.
*In David Attenborough's voise* And now we can personally observe the process of turning a normie into a Sabaton enjoyer. An amazingly beautiful sight!
Wow, this is the first time I've seen you guys but you really touched me. For optimism and a little more empathy in your world you need some Nightwish and Sabaton in your life. The female singer at the end was the legendary Floor Jansen, front woman of Nightwish. The fans of both of these bands are extremely warm and might restore some comfort in the use of the internet. I hope to see you react to some more of their works!
Check out Sabton history channel for more historical facts behind the songs, they made this channel because its imposible to put all details about a event in one song, so to learn about the event better, this is the place to go..
On December 24tth,1914 the German soldiers lit their lanterns and displayed them on the edge of their trenches, carol singing broke out. Soon enough the British and French troops joined in. Christmas greetings and well wishes were exchanged, and offers of a temporary ceasefire were communicated between the trenches. They also played the most iconic game of Soccer ever recorded. The truce lasted for two days but when their superior officers found out the soldiers on sll sides were punished. Some were transfered out, some ran,not wanting to fight. And the r est w ere shot right there for refusing orders to restart the battle once again. The soldiers didnt want to kill those they had met.
@Chicago Reacts: Sabaton isn't just about somber rememberances -- Sabaton also sings about stories that have either been forgotten, or were never taught about. I highly recommend reacting to the following: 1) Defense of Moscow: About the defense of Moscow, Russia, in 1941, during Operation: Barbarossa in World War II. 2) Night Witches (Animated Story Video) feat. YarnHub: About the all-women, highly decorated Soviet Air Force 588th Night Bombing Regiment, known as "Die Nachthexen," or, "The Night Witches." And here's the thing about the Christmas Truce: One German commander, after the Truce, had to move his men to another section of the line, because his men refused to fire upon the men they had made friends with the day before. And on a personal note, I find that over the last couple of years, because of this near-instantaneous gratification world we live in, people have lost a lot of self-discipline, self-control, and a lot of people think it is now proper to be vicious, because for all the talk of respecting each other, not a lot of people do. Not only that, but people automatically think they are entitled to being respected, even when they haven't earned it -- and, I find that people now confuse being cordial, with being respected, and the two are not the same.
Would love to see you react to Poets of the Fall - Carnival of Rust (their most well known song and the music video got voted as the best Finnish music video ever back in 2006 when the song was released). Truly an underrated band from here in Finland. Also a band with many different sounds all the way from slow melodic songs to full on rock. Although if you want to immediately hear a song that showcases how crazy good the lead singer Marko Saaresto's voice can be (and while his vocal range might not be the most dynamic out there he is an amazing example of what you can achieve by having absolutely perfect control of your vocals especially the raw emotion that his voice is able to convey) then i recommend listening to their song Daze. His vocals on the chorus are something out of this world. I just think that so many more people would love their music if they just ever heard them but since their from Finland it rarely happens. Although many have heard their songs in Remedy's video games Max Payne 2, Alan Wake, Quantum Brake and Control (Also every single reactor i have seen reacting to them has been pretty much blown away by their music so i'm very confident you'll like it) also... also... lot's of deep and meaningful lyrics and wordplay in their songs sorry for the long rant i just really want more people to know about them
Kira's smug smirk and general ignorance about history, wafting away a futile meaningless war that brutally killed millions, with "Is this like a musical, he-hu??" is absolutely despicable. Thankfully, Kit saves the day by educating her a little! Finally the penny seemed to drop at about ten minutes into this video. It's not a fucking Disney sparkly rainbows story any longer, huh, is it, Smirky Face?... Next time: Take just one minute before-hand to read up, if only the slightest, on the background. It's not that difficult. And you would come out the other side as a more genuine and thoughtful person.
i would like to see kira and kit react to "48 of my comrades are buried there" there's some sad moments but alot of happyness there too plus i think it might bring out to tell another story
Sabaton is a Swedish band if you don't know. So the chrismas truce happened in 1914 and the British, French and German forces played a game of football and barbers gave hair cuts and they exchanged chocolate and champagne some photos of families and buried the dead. I think the Pope wanted a truce just for Christmas but the leaders of the Countries didn't want this but the soldiers had their own unofficial truce but obviously after the day ended they started the war again and it would be the first and last time the Christmas truce would happen and that's why it's remembered for why it happened.
On the lyric video, I had talked about how the past couple years had really broken me down. And the idea, the hope that people who were by all accounts mortal enemies could put those differences aside for even a day, to see the humanity in and be good to each other was what I needed. They replied to my comment. It was a good feeling.
You need to watch the very last episode of Black Adder Goes Fourth. It's about this war and how futile it all was. (You actually need to see the whole series.) It stars Rowan Atkinson (known to must Americans as Mr Bean) as the titular character.
Sabaton was going to do this song at some point, but I think they realized its time had come, and I'm so glad they did. Any way you look at this music video, it holds up really well, between the hopeful message and the madness of having them go right back to killing the next day. I'm glad you got something out of it. Kit: thank you for your service, from an Air Force NCO.
Have a look at 1914 Sainsbury’s Christmas 2014 advert which covers the same event in a very well produced video. I don’t think people today can even imagine how truly awful it was to be in those trenches. And we must recognise that there are similar terrible atrocities happening all around the world every day and we seem powerless to stop them Or even relate to them because they seem so far away. Update look at what’s happening in the Russian invasion of Ukraine thanks to the evil tyrant Putin
I’d love to see more Sabaton reactions from you guys! Very insightful words, and the way you sat through the ENTIRE credits in sheer Awe, caught up in the music and the vocals (Excellently performed by Floor) As for recommendations, No bullets fly (the animated story video specifically) is a lovely story showcasing humanity and honour in war, plus a heartwarming story afterwards For something more upbeat and proud, Bismarck, Ghost Division (live, any official version)
Greetings. We look at the world now and see just how much our civilization has disappointed us. Our leaders want nothing more than to rule the world and will go through extremes if necessary, even if it means sacrificing men, women, and in some places even children. It is a sad thing to see that these things even happened, and Sabaton's songs puts a new perspective on these historical wars. When I saw this video, and Bismarck for the first time, I've cried many times after when I think about what's happening on the other side of our planet. Seeing the video for Bismarck and thinking that these things are on the verge of actually happening breaks my heart. The number of people that have to die for leaders that should know better just bri gs me to tears. I feel what she felt there but I do understand and accept that ot will get much worse before it gets better, and when it's all said and done, God WILL prevail. Thank you so much for the video, reaction and comments. Stay safe and stay blessed. 😊❤️🤘🤘
Sabaton are essentially modern day bards. It means don't forget that the war was fought and that it was a tragedy. It's about NOT forgetting.
It's literally in the real cross. It was planted in 1991 by supposedly some veteran/history group Khaki Chums

Don't get me wrong, I've been a fan of Sabaton since the early days of Primo Victoria and the Attero Dominatus album. They're great 🙂 Jocke's voice isn't exactly what you expect out of a ballad though 😄
It's also a stark contrast to the piano, again if you've never heard Sabaton before.
I was actually more surprised that she didn’t know about the actual event that happened back then…
But yes, his voice is simply amazing.
I am really glad you explained it to her.
Please react to "En Livstid I Krig (Live from Gothenburg)" by Sabaton. Just make sure to have the captions on. The most beautiful song they've ever made.
A lifetime in War. A story of the 30 year war
They're a fantastic band, and I wouldn't know half of what I know of history if I'd never found their music.
since they're swedish, they're closer to skálds
Welcome to the Sabaton Rabbithole guys. Grab a drink, it will be a long and great trip :D
WE GOT MORE OF EM' BOIS!
You will (hopefully) come out the other side a different, better person. That's usually what happens.
Started with a laugh - ended in tears.
Nevertheless I want more Sabaton reactions from you 😄
Ее смех, совершенно не кстати. Это совсем не смешно. Она смеётся, а мне хочется плакать.
@@Northman-from-the-North To be fair she really didn't know what she was getting into, not on here. Lame ass jab at Americans though l m a o
Sabaton are the best. The music video gives me goosebumps every time I watch it.
Talking of GAS, you should watch "Attack of the Dead Men"
that lady is up in the air lol.
Her privilege is showing
Floor Jansen angelic voice in the end.
With CC !
A song six years in the writing and well worth the wait
I would like to see these two lovely people reacting to Sabatons "No bullets fly" animated story video :D
That one kicks you right in the feels and it takes no prisoners, that story is so touching, and the fact that they got to meet and become such good friends after all those years
are just fantastic.
Promised.
Subscribed for coming Nightwish 😀
I'm sorry, but it shows the lack of history where she asks; is this from a film, is it real?"
At least do some prep for what you're going to review?
She sounds like a total dork!
Let alone the cinematic, editorial and other production qualities, which to me are well worthy of if not an Oscar then whatever is available.
The weather finally clears after weeks of rain and muck, you stop shooting at the movement in the trench across from you.
Slowly people take the clear weather as a sign that now the dead can be recovered from No Man's Land. Suddenly you hear singing from the other trench. You join in at first just to show them up that you can sing louder and better than them. Suddenly it slowly stops being a competition and becomes a united chorus.
Someone on the other side suddenly calls out, "if you no shoot, we no shoot."
Men begin to come out of the trenches.
No Bullets Fly
Bismarck
82nd All the Way (Alvin York from Tennessee)
En Livstid i Krig (A Lifetime of War)
To Hell and Back (Audie Murphy) PTSD
There's so many great songs in their collection.
Honestly the part at the end legit brought me to tears.
Like a wise man once said:
"The sleep of reason gives birth to monsters!"
We're all better than this.
He actually ment the exact oppsite, his phrase was "the dream (as in goal or project) of Reason gives birth to monsters"
He wasnt saying that the absence of reason created monster, but that reason itself could create monsters
@@Blue-kf6ju Nah, I like the more mainstream interpretation better.
My favorite band and my favorite reaction channel... CROSSOVER EPISODE!!!
Fantastic to see her ignorance. Hope she joins more Sabaton reactions
Heh.... Yeah I fell ya Kira. That ending always gets me too! T_T
Ending vocal by Floor Jansen from Nightwish.
The vast majority of Sabaton’s songs are historical in nature, dealing with the heroes, horrors and humanity of war.
I have a collection of reactions to this song, it is up to about 160 channels so far, so that I can just start it playing next December and have more or less endless loop of the song.
theres something wrong with you if you dont shed a tear
Struggled a little bit to this reaction. I feel that the lady a bit disrespectful laughing and giggling even after the Gentleman had explained the story meaning to it.
Ok the Kira breakdown was unexpected, we need more Sabaton. Get on it Chicago Reacts!
You would think that she would be able to deduce from the name of the song and the trenches that it had to do with something with Christmas and World War I
The woman's not the brightest, is she?
As someone who grew up along side the internet, came around in my early teens, I learned very early on what it was and could be, so I sont really engage much at all in any social media, and yea it was calmer in its younger years.. was more camaraderie back than but OFC there were vindictive people, trolls, scammers, but ppl were generally not used to the anonymity.. they were still human, we still are just it's far more broad now..
To cry from sabaton is normal human beahviour. They tell powerful stories that hit home♥️
Privately, wife of Sabaton drummer Hannes Van Dahl
this is defently the most genuine reaction to date.
Definitely should react to “Soldier of Heaven”
Yeah. I’m grateful I stopped and asked for context cause I was seriously lost! I’ve never seen anything like this before. So glad to be introduced.
*In David Attenborough's voise*
And now we can personally observe the process of turning a normie into a Sabaton enjoyer.
I honestly don't like how she is laughing at the start of the reaction. That feels like disrespect to the soldiers that died.
Check out Sabton history channel for more historical facts behind the songs, they made this channel because its imposible to put all details about a event in one song, so to learn about the event better, this is the place to go..
Funny to see Kit pull hard on Kira's reins when she starts getting out of line. 😂
I highly recommend reacting to the following:
1) Defense of Moscow: About the defense of Moscow, Russia, in 1941, during Operation: Barbarossa in World War II.
2) Night Witches (Animated Story Video) feat. YarnHub: About the all-women, highly decorated Soviet Air Force 588th Night Bombing Regiment, known as "Die Nachthexen," or, "The Night Witches."
And here's the thing about the Christmas Truce: One German commander, after the Truce, had to move his men to another section of the line, because his men refused to fire upon the men they had made friends with the day before.
Although many have heard their songs in Remedy's video games Max Payne 2, Alan Wake, Quantum Brake and Control
(Also every single reactor i have seen reacting to them has been pretty much blown away by their music so i'm very confident you'll like it)
also... also... lot's of deep and meaningful lyrics and wordplay in their songs
sorry for the long rant i just really want more people to know about them
That strange laugh at the beginning made me leave this video. There are more composed reaction videos out there.
Hannes van Dahl is drumer from Sabaton maried with Floor Jansen from Nightwish.
Spot on comment. My thoughts exactly. Callous ignorant people are to be pitied.
Please react to No bullet's fly video too!
Damn, didn't know you'd react to Sabaton 👀 now I'm happy btw i would suggest "No Bullets fly"
i would like to see kira and kit react to "48 of my comrades are buried there" there's some sad moments but alot of happyness there too plus i think it might bring out to tell another story
It was never sanctioned by either High commands. It was a spontaneous action by the men in the field ..
Floors voice hitting hard in the end there.
My grandfather fort in the 1st world war, and I knew about the Christmas truce, it's something we should never forget
On the lyric video, I had talked about how the past couple years had really broken me down. And the idea, the hope that people who were by all accounts mortal enemies could put those differences aside for even a day, to see the humanity in and be good to each other was what I needed.
They replied to my comment. It was a good feeling.
You guys should check out Sabaton's animated music video called No Bullets Fly
The video started laughing and ended up crying. There's nothing wrong with crying.
Kira has the most stereotypical American reaction
Laughs awkwardly because confused
Generally uninformed
No useful input
You need to watch the very last episode of Black Adder Goes Fourth. It's about this war and how futile it all was. (You actually need to see the whole series.) It stars Rowan Atkinson (known to must Americans as Mr Bean) as the titular character.
Sabaton was going to do this song at some point, but I think they realized its time had come, and I'm so glad they did. Any way you look at this music video, it holds up really well, between the hopeful message and the madness of having them go right back to killing the next day. I'm glad you got something out of it. Kit: thank you for your service, from an Air Force NCO.
I don't understand how you can laugh even once in this video... Unintelligible
sabaton has some emotional power behind it and they tell the storys very well
The hardest thing about that truce is that in some places along the front it lasted up to a week before the fighting continued.
Sabaton is a good reaction rabbit hole, No Bullets Fly would be a good follow up, the animated music video specifically.
God kens, if you folks do more of ol' Sabaton, you'll hit a nice wee view bump.
I know this song very well, but even after all this time, the video makes me cry almost every single time..
Good people caught in a bad system/situation eventually makes good people behave badly. And it works the other way too. So keep being optimistic.
I’d love to see more Sabaton reactions from you guys! Very insightful words, and the way you sat through the ENTIRE credits in sheer Awe, caught up in the music and the vocals (Excellently performed by Floor)
As for recommendations, No bullets fly (the animated story video specifically) is a lovely story showcasing humanity and honour in war, plus a heartwarming story afterwards
For something more upbeat and proud, Bismarck, Ghost Division (live, any official version)
😊❤️🤘🤘
