@@Rck-vert just seeing how Tsunade did in the war arch tells me if she was there with her 100 healings and if Orochimaru was there and healthy they might be able to get it done. Jiriya was in the rain village so he was at a disadvantage from the start. But if he had people with him covering his back might be a different story.
While it doesn’t effect the end outcome really, I do think it was a mistake to not include the fact that the orochimaru who fought 4 tails naruto still couldn’t use most his jutsu and his body was nearing its end. This makes his fight against naruto vastly more impressive then jirya as
Oroshimaru with both hands would have easily taken care of Naruto. Even Sasuke knew that if it wasn’t because of Oroshimaru’s handicap, he wouldn’t have been able to defeat him. Think about it, if Oroshimaru was able to use his justu for the whole show + his immortality, he’d be completely unstoppable. He would have also easily defeated Sasuke and took over his body, while having the knowledge to produce a Rinnegan. It would’ve been a wrap for everyone, there’s a reason why they needed to severely nerf him.

Funny thing by is Jiraiya could have survived that fight easily. Then he could have mastered Sage Mode and perfected it like Naruto. Easily would have got his armed repaired by Tsunade as well.
32:40 ma and pa are connected to jiraiya so they'd also be pulling jiraiya in to. And he can just shoot a fire ball while he's being pulled in. Also tendo should at least be relative to jiraiya in speed. Nagato didn't just have tendo come in and solo at the end. And jiraiya was still able to escape and bring a path into his frog dimension. Zetsu also notes that the fight took awhile in the same chapter they say "jiraiya would have won if he knew our secret" and black zetsu's reason for why the fight took awhile was because pain was fighting jiraiya.

Tbh I think that each of the Sannin are being considerably downplayed here, considering that parts of their kits are being ignored. Orochimaru's cursed sealing is no joke, and is used during the war to handle a guy who was evenly matching the 3rd Hokage who had infinite chakra reserves. Tsunade also has good terrain disruption and offensive medical ninjutsu techniques, while Jiraya's frog song is still a win-con.
Yea they are like pain is smart so he will systematically target the Healer and jiraya and orochimaru who are both smart fighters will just not have a plan for that. Like if that was all it took to take down tbe sanin they wouldn't have been so legendary.

The Tsunade that fought against Madara is no different from the Tsunade during the pain arc... she's the exact same strength, she didn't do any training or anything... and then Jiraija and Orochimaru scale directly to Tsunade, because they're all stated to be relative equals and a literal "rock, paper, scissors" counter to eachother... Sage Naruto is just ambiguously "stronger" than Jiraija which implies he could be anywhere from 1% stronger or more but nothing is ever suggested nor implied... so i think its safe to say that sage Naruto isn't even 2x stronger than sage Jiraija and nothing suggests otherwise.... Now the sannin are stated in data book to receive a 3x power amp when fighting together, this amp should easily make them each individually stronger than Sage Naruto... I think something people forget is that we never see any of the 3 Sannin at their peak and when we first meet them Tsunade and Jiraiya are in their 50's so they are well past their prime and getting weaker as time goes on. Jiraiya was stated to be the most powerful ninja of his generation. This is even stated in the Manga that in his fight against Orochimaru during the Chunin exams Hiruzen Sarutobi was only a fraction of what he was in his younger days. Main point i'm trying to make is that if you can imagine how powerful they are now imagine how powerful they were in their prime.

Kisame is stated to be one of the most powerful members of the Akatsuki in terns of his Chakra and he stated that he didn't think that he could land a blow on Jiraiya and Itachi stated that he thought that if he and Jiraiya fought that either they would both die or seriously injure each other.

Then EMS Sasuke was only barely equal to Itachi despite it being said that Sasuke had surpassed the Sannin and was on par with KCM 2 Naruto. Itachi also was beating KCM Naruto in a hand to hand fight, unless you think that Kishimoto was wrong about Sage Naruto surpassing Jiraiya and think that Jiraiya can also keep up with KCM 2 Naruto.
Nagato has a long arrogance/naivity streak. He's the opposite of Itachi basically. Nagato isn't a naturally arrogant person but, his abilities prevented him from taking basic shinobi deception seriously and cost him dearly in multiple battles. Oro with prep time is a huge problem for Nagato if he has to worry about Jiraiya and Tsunade too.

The toads can summon Jiraiya/Naruto and Sasuke (Orochimaru's student) showed that he can climb into a snake's mouth and reverse summon it faster than Deidara explosion. Even Tsunade can tank a point blank Shinra Tensei and she's the only Sannin who might not be able to reverse summon out of Chibaku Tensei. She could probably just tank it while Oro and Jiraiya just outsmart Nagato. Sorry, bro but, Nagato (especially the Pain version) melts like snowflake once you've seen all of his tricks.

Oro would've accidentally discovered Pain's weakness to nature energy within his first few moves.
I think what they meant by that is that Jiraiya would have approached that encounter differently. He could’ve escaped, backed off for reinforcements, helped the leaf form a plan. Which wouldn’t have been a win for Pain in that situation.

Mmma jiraya by himself is enough to Takedown more then half of the paths of pain the addition of tsunade and orochimaru along with their experience operating as a team makes them too much for pain. Tsunade and orochimaru are essentially immortal and all 3 have high level sage modes.
Erm no. He took on 3 paths of pain and only beat them due to hiding and using Ma and Pa. If all 6 were fighting him he'd have been defeated in about 10 seconds from the start. It took Jiraiya a long time to go sage mode and even then the entire time he was trying to enter sage mode he was only against the animal path. Even then he had to run and be careful. The 3 Sannin vs Pain get decimated by pain and there's no ifs ands or buts about it...

Yo naruto is not stronger than the 3 sannin. It's not just about power but versatility. They beat pain because they have so many options. All 3 of them actually know shadow clone and although the 5th doesn't use jutsu usually, 2 of them have game changing and huge jutsu. Not to mention they are all smart . Also deva path can't spam anyway . If he knocked away tbe Summens then they lose
13:02 in relation to 4 tails Naruto, there's no indication that once the nine tails Chakra leaks out to 4 tails and beyond, that Naruto's own is relevant or necessary. His power is more or less shoved aside. Which means if 5 year old Naruto was to release the 4 tails it would be the same a 12 year old and 16 year old.
Tsunade simply hurts harder than sage Naruto with 100 healings, she would one shot the paths. So with the 5 second intervals, one hit would be enough for tendo and if they take down the one that revives the paths, its over really
It makes me wonder, if Lady Katsuyu split herself in order to provide a bit of healing and intel, if the Sannin managed to single out 2 Pains each to fight (let's say it's in the Rain Village for this example), would Jiraiya, in Sage Mode, even be able to touch or receive any of her healing? Since Lady Katsuyu is a sage creature and Jiraiya is hopped up on frog sage chakra that's even a bit out of control because he's not a perfect Sage, how would Katsuyu's nature energy mingle with his? Would Jiraiya start to turn into a half frog, half slug? Or would Katsuyu start to turn into a frog? It also leaves me confused as to if the Preta path could absorb her acid. Since it's coming from a sage creature, then absorbing it would be detrimental, no? Or is it only from direct contact to a constant stream of natural energy, like when he full nelson'd Sage Naruto?
I feel like the Pain overall wins anyway, but I don't feel like Ma and Pa would be the only ones that could sense the Chameleon Summon, Manda and Orochimarus other Snakes should be able to also on account of them being Snakes in general. Not like it matters tho, just felt like the Chameleon summon isn't a deciding factor, the lack of options against the discrepancy in their numbers would easily be the reason why Pain can take this fight.

The sanin can beat two paths of pain. So essentially they can divide them into a 2v1 . The sanin win mid-high diff. Orochimaru can use edo to revive the 1st 2nd and 4th hokage. If he can do that it's low to mid diff.

It's funny how the statement made by Fukasaku seems to be interpreted as Naruto surpassing Jiraiya but not Minato, when the manga/anime clearly shows the both of them lol. Naruto's surpassing of the 2 is strictly based on his ability to draw out and maximize sage mode itself, it doesn't mean that he can win in a fight against them. One of the biggest misconceptions of "power scaling" is that it doesn't properly account for the impact of hax, abilities and battle tatics which could tilt the battle in someone's favor if their overall speed and power is in a close range. Naruto isn't Dragon Ball Z where its objective that once someone's power level is higher than another that means that they should win the fight.
Jiraiya did defeat nagato in the end, and nagato was absolutely right about his secret and jiraiya. As soon as he figured out the secret to his rinnegan, pain’s fate was sealed. Giving Naruto that intel+the other rinnegan intel was literally the largest contributing factor to Naruto winning. I highly doubt pain ever meant he’d beat him in a straight up fight. At least, that’s how I always took it. The fact that he storms the leaf almost immediately after he recovers from the fight to get back the body and chakra receivers/ find Naruto was something I always thought reinforced that idea. Now I’m just speaking the obvious, but.. He was clearly worried because the rinnegan in particular isn’t as effective once people know it’s secrets. At least the way he used it, with the six paths. It’s the one weakness of pain; the split bodies and weakened original put pain in a position single body nagato would never have to worry about. All they have to do is send one high level ninja or squad after the main body and the six paths are in a predicament. Jiraiya was possibly the only person on the planet that could have put two and two together and realized who pain was; he really was the only one that could “defeat” pain. Orochimaru and kabuto might have been able to deduce some of his abilities, for example, but never his actual identity. They just didn’t have the clues and information jiraiya did.

Chibaku Tensei can get destroyed by anything Bijuu level, the Sannin combined easily reach that, hell Tsunade might just do it alone and crush the core with her punch. If Katsuyu gets summoned it's instantly over, she could heal the whole village, imagine the healing she could provide on just 3. Pain has to permanently threaten to oneshot every Sannin to win this, otherwise you have Katsuyu, Edo Kage or Frog Song in the mix. He will lose that war of attrition eventually, it's one Chakra pool vs three and one of the three is Tsunade's.

I don't think u see how op Katsuyu is and how she woukd be the key player here. Like the six pains shared link vision, Katsuyu will be performing that by many magnitudes more. Telepathically communicating with Tsunade and other Katsuyus. Providing absolute healing and defense when needed. She negates shinra tensie no room for debate. Despite being a slug she is very fast. She counters pain summons esp the dog as her acid will leave nth for the dog to split from as it will just vaporize it on contact. She can one shot the other summons with ease while still being elsewhere on the battlefield being ever so useful independently. Not only will Katsuyu provide observation but also point out pains weaknesses and strengths and immediately relaying it to the sannin. Can liquifey herself and trap opponents in her body fluids for the sannin to attack, cannot be damaged by any of pains techniques. She can also just encase people in her body as well and probably suffocate them too. Soul rupture will be useless as she can just split apart lol. Katsuyu is just that useful 😅.

Imagine thinking the Sannin can't beat the 5 Kage. When one of the Sannin put up the best performance against Edo Madara. Like why is it a question? Without Ohnoki's particle jutsu. They all would've died when Madara trapped then in the deep forest. The only survivor would've been Tsunade do to the Byakugo. Plus when everyone else is dying a slow death. Tsunade is the only conscious one waiting on reinforcements to get to the others. Who are literally going to their death, according to Madara. Lastly, the 5 Kage wouldn't beat the 6 paths of Pain. So it's a non sequitur here. It's not like the Gokage are going to magically represent a marker of power level relative to the sannin to begin with. One needs to consider the context to the statement of Sannin>Gokage, but then you both crafted a narrative to give it context? The fan guide flatout says their power the sannin>gokage. That doesn't require context. The further back in Naruto you go. The stronger the characters get. So it's not like that narrative really works. Ay never fought and bested Gyuki, Gaara never suppressed Shukaku, The Mizukage that got Edo Tensei'd clearly is stronger than Mei Terumi. And Muu is the most proficient user of the particle style. What Pain said has 2 explicit takes 1. Jiraiya would've just flat out won if the 6 were there. Or 2. Nagato would've been found. Which ever one you believe, the Sannin would beat Pain. Can't say the same for the Gokage as they were when they fought Madara. Nagato with far less mobility, was pressing KCM Naruto and Killer Bee. The Gokage wouldn't beat KCM Naruto and Pain is Nagato's powers split and with a minor cool down. Then there's even the whole "out of all the shinobi in Minato's era Jiraiya is the one he wanted to fight the most." And Minato is supposedly the greatest shinobi ever, outside of Hashirama stuff. Yet he wanted to have a real fight with a sannin. The consistent context is that the sannin>gokage my dudes.

Minato took some heavy damage from cloacked Kushina in the one shot manga. All im sayn its not too unrealistic for Jirayja to take some hits from Naruto.
I think it's fair to say that the only characters that really stand any chance against Pain that don't have access to Six Paths powers are KCM2 Naruto, Minato, Hashirama, Madara, Itachi and Obito. To be clear, when I say Pain I'm talking about all six not just the Deva Path even though that specific one is the most powerful by far. Remember I'm treating this as if none of the characters have any intel as to what any of the other characters can do. Hashirama and Madara would win against Pain and there is no doubt about it. it would be entertaining since Pain has some crazy moves and it doesn't look to be that Hashirama goes balls in at the start of the fight at least from what little we've seen. Madara might be a little different but I still would be willing to bet Pain could at least contend with Madara in the same sense that the 5 Kage were contending with Madara. I see Madara wanting to test himself against the powers of the Rinnegan rather than use them himself since Madara loves a good fight and this would be a once in a lifetime experience for him. KCM2 Naruto and KCM2 Minato as well as white mask Obito I think are pretty self explanatory as well. all three have the chakra reserves, the AP, and the hacks to contend with everything Pain brings to the table so they each they just stomp all over Pain. I like Minato, I do, but every argument I've seen presented saying that he just stomps Pain fall short for me. Minato is certainly fast, but we've seen Nagato react and out pace KCM Naruto, who is also faster than the Raikage. so Minato and KCM Naruto should at least be on par as far as speed goes. As for Minato's Flying Thunder God Jutsu, remember he can really only teleport to where he places a seal or to where he has a Kunai at. Pain would have no issues blasting them away with Shinra Tensei, or simply moving the fight to a more favorable location as he did during his fight with the Kyuubi, and the shared view of the Rinnegan should help prevent any sneak attacks that Minato would undoubtedly set up. Sure Minato might take a few out of the Paths in the early fight with these tricks, Even the Deva Path, but unless he starts off taking the Naraka path down first, Pain can simply recover lost bodies. Minato also lacks in terms of shear amount of chakra. after a brief bout with Obito, during which very little happened that would have been considered impressive as far as chakra consumption goes. Minato was too weak to contend with the Kyuubi. Pain meanwhile, had answers to just about everything the Kyuubi could throw at him. sure, Pain was was only fighting a 6-tailed version of the Kyuubi, but this was also a severally fatigued Pain that had already performed multiple deeds in a single day, that up to that point in the series no one else had come close to achieving. By the time the Kyuubi was nearly released Pain just said, "I'll have to make it bigger." referring to Chibaku Tensei. So he had a solution. After the fight was over, Nagato still had enough Chakra to bring back all the villagers he'd killed. BTW if Pain uses Chibaku Tensei against Minato, all his Kunai in the fight also get sucked into the gravitational pull. Even if Minato could FTG out of Chibaku Tensei, he could really only go to a place that he had prepared a seal before the fight, (I.E. like just going home.) it would still count as a battle field removal. at best, you could count that as a tie. But Minato has now left Pain to wreck havoc where ever Minato just escaped from. Itachi and Obito are much more fair competition for Pain I think. As neither of them are as straight forward as Naruto, Minato, Hashirama, and Madara. Itachi uses a variety of techniques and has his Sharingan. Orange mask Obito really only has one win condition which is to pull the Pains into his pocket dimension. to which, I have to say, I honestly don't know how that would work. The Animal Path can summon them back, So Obito would have to take that one out first, but as we've seen with his fight with Naruto, Kakashi, Bee and Naruto during the war arc, he has a hard time dealing with multiple adversaries at once. so I actually say this one maybe could go either way since Pains only win condition is to either force Obito to retreat, or to burn all of Obito's chakra. As for Itachi, I still think this is likely Pains game. since Pain can easily outlast Itachi. Itachi's best bet here would be his Susanoo and Tsukuyomi as Amaterasu has been shown to be kinda dead against the Deva Path since Shinra Tensei can blast the flames away, and the Preta Path can absorb the jutsu. Susanoo would give Itachi the AP to one shot any of the Pains, but if Gaara could use his sand to pull F&%*G Madara out of his Susanoo, than Pain should have no issues with using Bansho Tenin to pull Itachi from his Susanoo. I honestly am unsure of how Tsukuyomi would work against Pain. since, they're each a corpse puppet, would the Genjutsu transfer to Nagato? or would it just affect that specific Pain? Would it even work at all since the Rinnegan is a superior Dojustu? I'm in the camp that, Nagato would get hit with the Tsukuyomi but not the full force of it just because of the Rinnegan. either way, Itachi died from chakra exhaustion, so that's a tick in Pains corner. Mind you, this isn't even counting Chibaku Tensei. Which I don't see Itachi having an answer for since the one time he faced it, he had unlimited Chakra, and had help from KCM Naruto, and a partially transformed Killer Bee.

A lot of people think the Sanin win with teamwork, but Pain's strongest advantage literally IS teamwork. Their abilities stacked upon each other make him overpowered, a good example of that is Nagato using all of the Rinnegan abilities at the same time to shit on war arc KCM 1 Naruto and Bee. Every Rinnegan ability individually is strong, but combined they are impossible to fully counter unless you outclass Pain with large amps of your own like perfect sage mode, 6 paths level amp, etc

I would say that pain would probably win, but orochimaru has the edo tensei, it wouldn't be a 6vs3 but a 6vs5 and if you count the summon it's a 9vs6, maybe with animal path's summon it's a 10vs9, but still the sannin are much much stronger than any individual pain besides the deva path, so probably if nagato wants he could just win, but i'm pretty sure that with all of the summons, the edo tensei, the insanepy big arsenal for orochimaru, including sealing jutsu, they could potentially cut down the fight to close
I really don't buy into 4T Naruto being stronger in Shippuden than in part 1. It's still 100% kyuubi chakra (especially since Naruto has no control), and any difference between those two base Narutos should be negligible in comparison. I interpret the seal "allowing more chakra over time" as access to more tails, which I think is consistent with Naruto actually using more tails over time. 4 tails of chakra is 4 tails of chakra as far as I can tell.
You don’t talk about Tsunade’s durability thinking Pain just claps Tsunade before Jiraiya and Orochimaru arrive. Tsunade specifically taught Sakura evasion skills and would have tanked a Catastrophic Almighty Push if she didn’t need to protect the villagers. Even when Madara cut her in half she survived and Tatsuya was going to reattach her but she insisted on keeping the other Kage alive first. Also Tsunade does have slow attacks but in this case it would just be used to create distant between the Pain. Throwing rubble she creates around or creating shockwaves to impede the Pains

Oroshimaru with both hands would have easily taken care of Naruto. Even Sasuke knew that if it wasn’t because of Oroshimaru’s handicap, he wouldn’t have been able to defeat him. Think about it, if Oroshimaru was able to use his justu for the whole show + his immortality, he’d be completely unstoppable. He would have also easily defeated Sasuke and took over his body, while having the knowledge to produce a Rinnegan. It would’ve been a wrap for everyone, there’s a reason why they needed to severely nerf him.

Funny thing by is Jiraiya could have survived that fight easily. Then he could have mastered Sage Mode and perfected it like Naruto. Easily would have got his armed repaired by Tsunade as well.
32:40 ma and pa are connected to jiraiya so they'd also be pulling jiraiya in to. And he can just shoot a fire ball while he's being pulled in. Also tendo should at least be relative to jiraiya in speed. Nagato didn't just have tendo come in and solo at the end. And jiraiya was still able to escape and bring a path into his frog dimension.
Zetsu also notes that the fight took awhile in the same chapter they say "jiraiya would have won if he knew our secret" and black zetsu's reason for why the fight took awhile was because pain was fighting jiraiya.
The fact that pa dint tell them about tendo abilities means he dint even use them they were shown surprised by tendo abilities so wrong

Tbh I think that each of the Sannin are being considerably downplayed here, considering that parts of their kits are being ignored. Orochimaru's cursed sealing is no joke, and is used during the war to handle a guy who was evenly matching the 3rd Hokage who had infinite chakra reserves. Tsunade also has good terrain disruption and offensive medical ninjutsu techniques, while Jiraya's frog song is still a win-con.
I think orochimaru is the only one that could have stood a chance against pain but pain would still win.

I think something people forget is that we never see any of the 3 Sannin at their peak and when we first meet them Tsunade and Jiraiya are in their 50's so they are well past their prime and getting weaker as time goes on. Jiraiya was stated to be the most powerful ninja of his generation.
This is even stated in the Manga that in his fight against Orochimaru during the Chunin exams Hiruzen Sarutobi was only a fraction of what he was in his younger days.

Kisame is stated to be one of the most powerful members of the Akatsuki in terns of his Chakra and he stated that he didn't think that he could land a blow on Jiraiya and Itachi stated that he thought that if he and Jiraiya fought that either they would both die or seriously injure each other.

Then EMS Sasuke was only barely equal to Itachi despite it being said that Sasuke had surpassed the Sannin and was on par with KCM 2 Naruto. Itachi also was beating KCM Naruto in a hand to hand fight, unless you think that Kishimoto was wrong about Sage Naruto surpassing Jiraiya and think that Jiraiya can also keep up with KCM 2 Naruto.
Nagato has a long arrogance/naivity streak. He's the opposite of Itachi basically. Nagato isn't a naturally arrogant person but, his abilities prevented him from taking basic shinobi deception seriously and cost him dearly in multiple battles.
Oro with prep time is a huge problem for Nagato if he has to worry about Jiraiya and Tsunade too.

@@heftymagic4814 Both Frog and Snake summoning contracts give their users access to reverse summoning. The toads can summon Jiraiya/Naruto and Sasuke (Orochimaru's student) showed that he can climb into a snake's mouth and reverse summon it faster than Deidara explosion.
Even Tsunade can tank a point blank Shinra Tensei and she's the only Sannin who might not be able to reverse summon out of Chibaku Tensei. She could probably just tank it while Oro and Jiraiya just outsmart Nagato.

Erm no. He took on 3 paths of pain and only beat them due to hiding and using Ma and Pa. If all 6 were fighting him he'd have been defeated in about 10 seconds from the start. It took Jiraiya a long time to go sage mode and even then the entire time he was trying to enter sage mode he was only against the animal path. Even then he had to run and be careful. The 3 Sannin vs Pain get decimated by pain and there's no ifs ands or buts about it...

I know we never have any evidence to show that "slug sage" is actually a thing, but 2 out of the 3 sanin summon types are confirmed sage creatures and Tsunade's grandfather had an unknown sage mode. So it would make sense if this massive forest slug with enormous healing properties used nature energy.

13:02 in relation to 4 tails Naruto, there's no indication that once the nine tails Chakra leaks out to 4 tails and beyond, that Naruto's own is relevant or necessary. His power is more or less shoved aside. Which means if 5 year old Naruto was to release the 4 tails it would be the same a 12 year old and 16 year old.
Tsunade simply hurts harder than sage Naruto with 100 healings, she would one shot the paths. So with the 5 second intervals, one hit would be enough for tendo and if they take down the one that revives the paths, its over really

It makes me wonder, if Lady Katsuyu split herself in order to provide a bit of healing and intel, if the Sannin managed to single out 2 Pains each to fight (let's say it's in the Rain Village for this example), would Jiraiya, in Sage Mode, even be able to touch or receive any of her healing?
Since Lady Katsuyu is a sage creature and Jiraiya is hopped up on frog sage chakra that's even a bit out of control because he's not a perfect Sage, how would Katsuyu's nature energy mingle with his? Would Jiraiya start to turn into a half frog, half slug? Or would Katsuyu start to turn into a frog?
It also leaves me confused as to if the Preta path could absorb her acid. Since it's coming from a sage creature, then absorbing it would be detrimental, no? Or is it only from direct contact to a constant stream of natural energy, like when he full nelson'd Sage Naruto?
I feel like the Pain overall wins anyway, but I don't feel like Ma and Pa would be the only ones that could sense the Chameleon Summon, Manda and Orochimarus other Snakes should be able to also on account of them being Snakes in general. Not like it matters tho, just felt like the Chameleon summon isn't a deciding factor, the lack of options against the discrepancy in their numbers would easily be the reason why Pain can take this fight.

I think the sannin are being a bit underrated. It doesn’t makes sense even if jiraiya beat the weaker pains you have tsunade using chakra to heal them and a huge pool while saying so while Orochimaru could use something like reanimating to also help like he did against hiruzen and even if not he could do other jutsu to handle the pains the only issue I see is chibaku tensei

It's funny how the statement made by Fukasaku seems to be interpreted as Naruto surpassing Jiraiya but not Minato, when the manga/anime clearly shows the both of them lol. Naruto's surpassing of the 2 is strictly based on his ability to draw out and maximize sage mode itself, it doesn't mean that he can win in a fight against them. One of the biggest misconceptions of "power scaling" is that it doesn't properly account for the impact of hax, abilities and battle tatics which could tilt the battle in someone's favor if their overall speed and power is in a close range. Naruto isn't Dragon Ball Z where its objective that once someone's power level is higher than another that means that they should win the fight.

As soon as he figured out the secret to his rinnegan, pain’s fate was sealed. Giving Naruto that intel+the other rinnegan intel was literally the largest contributing factor to Naruto winning.
I highly doubt pain ever meant he’d beat him in a straight up fight. At least, that’s how I always took it. The fact that he storms the leaf almost immediately after he recovers from the fight to get back the body and chakra receivers/ find Naruto was something I always thought reinforced that idea. Now I’m just speaking the obvious, but.. He was clearly worried because the rinnegan in particular isn’t as effective once people know it’s secrets. At least the way he used it, with the six paths. It’s the one weakness of pain; the split bodies and weakened original put pain in a position single body nagato would never have to worry about. All they have to do is send one high level ninja or squad after the main body and the six paths are in a predicament.
Jiraiya was possibly the only person on the planet that could have put two and two together and realized who pain was; he really was the only one that could “defeat” pain.

I don't think u see how op Katsuyu is and how she woukd be the key player here. Like the six pains shared link vision, Katsuyu will be performing that by many magnitudes more. Telepathically communicating with Tsunade and other Katsuyus. Providing absolute healing and defense when needed. She negates shinra tensie no room for debate. Despite being a slug she is very fast.
She counters pain summons esp the dog as her acid will leave nth for the dog to split from as it will just vaporize it on contact. She can one shot the other summons with ease while still being elsewhere on the battlefield being ever so useful independently. Not only will Katsuyu provide observation but also point out pains weaknesses and strengths and immediately relaying it to the sannin. Can liquifey herself and trap opponents in her body fluids for the sannin to attack, cannot be damaged by any of pains techniques. She can also just encase people in her body as well and probably suffocate them too.
Soul rupture will be useless as she can just split apart lol. Katsuyu is just that useful 😅.

I think it's fair to say that the only characters that really stand any chance against Pain that don't have access to Six Paths powers are KCM2 Naruto, Minato, Hashirama, Madara, Itachi and Obito. To be clear, when I say Pain I'm talking about all six not just the Deva Path even though that specific one is the most powerful by far. Remember I'm treating this as if none of the characters have any intel as to what any of the other characters can do.
Hashirama and Madara would win against Pain and there is no doubt about it. it would be entertaining since Pain has some crazy moves and it doesn't look to be that Hashirama goes balls in at the start of the fight at least from what little we've seen. Madara might be a little different but I still would be willing to bet Pain could at least contend with Madara in the same sense that the 5 Kage were contending with Madara. I see Madara wanting to test himself against the powers of the Rinnegan rather than use them himself since Madara loves a good fight and this would be a once in a lifetime experience for him.
KCM2 Naruto and KCM2 Minato as well as white mask Obito I think are pretty self explanatory as well. all three have the chakra reserves, the AP, and the hacks to contend with everything Pain brings to the table so they each they just stomp all over Pain.
I like Minato, I do, but every argument I've seen presented saying that he just stomps Pain fall short for me. Minato is certainly fast, but we've seen Nagato react and out pace KCM Naruto, who is also faster than the Raikage. so Minato and KCM Naruto should at least be on par as far as speed goes. As for Minato's Flying Thunder God Jutsu, remember he can really only teleport to where he places a seal or to where he has a Kunai at. Pain would have no issues blasting them away with Shinra Tensei, or simply moving the fight to a more favorable location as he did during his fight with the Kyuubi, and the shared view of the Rinnegan should help prevent any sneak attacks that Minato would undoubtedly set up. Sure Minato might take a few out of the Paths in the early fight with these tricks, Even the Deva Path, but unless he starts off taking the Naraka path down first, Pain can simply recover lost bodies. Minato also lacks in terms of shear amount of chakra. after a brief bout with Obito, during which very little happened that would have been considered impressive as far as chakra consumption goes. Minato was too weak to contend with the Kyuubi. Pain meanwhile, had answers to just about everything the Kyuubi could throw at him. sure, Pain was was only fighting a 6-tailed version of the Kyuubi, but this was also a severally fatigued Pain that had already performed multiple deeds in a single day, that up to that point in the series no one else had come close to achieving. By the time the Kyuubi was nearly released Pain just said, "I'll have to make it bigger." referring to Chibaku Tensei. So he had a solution. After the fight was over, Nagato still had enough Chakra to bring back all the villagers he'd killed. BTW if Pain uses Chibaku Tensei against Minato, all his Kunai in the fight also get sucked into the gravitational pull. Even if Minato could FTG out of Chibaku Tensei, he could really only go to a place that he had prepared a seal before the fight, (I.E. like just going home.) it would still count as a battle field removal. at best, you could count that as a tie. But Minato has now left Pain to wreck havoc where ever Minato just escaped from.
Itachi and Obito are much more fair competition for Pain I think. As neither of them are as straight forward as Naruto, Minato, Hashirama, and Madara. Itachi uses a variety of techniques and has his Sharingan. Orange mask Obito really only has one win condition which is to pull the Pains into his pocket dimension. to which, I have to say, I honestly don't know how that would work. The Animal Path can summon them back, So Obito would have to take that one out first, but as we've seen with his fight with Naruto, Kakashi, Bee and Naruto during the war arc, he has a hard time dealing with multiple adversaries at once. so I actually say this one maybe could go either way since Pains only win condition is to either force Obito to retreat, or to burn all of Obito's chakra.
As for Itachi, I still think this is likely Pains game. since Pain can easily outlast Itachi. Itachi's best bet here would be his Susanoo and Tsukuyomi as Amaterasu has been shown to be kinda dead against the Deva Path since Shinra Tensei can blast the flames away, and the Preta Path can absorb the jutsu. Susanoo would give Itachi the AP to one shot any of the Pains, but if Gaara could use his sand to pull F&%*G Madara out of his Susanoo, than Pain should have no issues with using Bansho Tenin to pull Itachi from his Susanoo. I honestly am unsure of how Tsukuyomi would work against Pain. since, they're each a corpse puppet, would the Genjutsu transfer to Nagato? or would it just affect that specific Pain? Would it even work at all since the Rinnegan is a superior Dojustu? I'm in the camp that, Nagato would get hit with the Tsukuyomi but not the full force of it just because of the Rinnegan. either way, Itachi died from chakra exhaustion, so that's a tick in Pains corner. Mind you, this isn't even counting Chibaku Tensei. Which I don't see Itachi having an answer for since the one time he faced it, he had unlimited Chakra, and had help from KCM Naruto, and a partially transformed Killer Bee.

I have Pain losing this but Jiraiya actually fought him in the ideal environment for his gimmicks.

The fact that people till this day still use this pain statement to try and say Jiraiya beats pain is just sad. Like dude if it really came down to it, Tendo could just universal pull pa or ma into a chakra rod and one shot them like he did against naruto.
A lot of people think the Sanin win with teamwork, but Pain's strongest advantage literally IS teamwork. Their abilities stacked upon each other make him overpowered, a good example of that is Nagato using all of the Rinnegan abilities at the same time to shit on war arc KCM 1 Naruto and Bee. Every Rinnegan ability individually is strong, but combined they are impossible to fully counter unless you outclass Pain with large amps of your own like perfect sage mode, 6 paths level amp, etc

They didnt break it down into different parts because orochimaru with the Hashirama cells is another level, and Boruto orochimaru is not Even a question plus Jiraiya is dead.
I would say that pain would probably win, but orochimaru has the edo tensei, it wouldn't be a 6vs3 but a 6vs5 and if you count the summon it's a 9vs6, maybe with animal path's summon it's a 10vs9, but still the sannin are much much stronger than any individual pain besides the deva path, so probably if nagato wants he could just win, but i'm pretty sure that with all of the summons, the edo tensei, the insanepy big arsenal for orochimaru, including sealing jutsu, they could potentially cut down the fight to close
I really don't buy into 4T Naruto being stronger in Shippuden than in part 1. It's still 100% kyuubi chakra (especially since Naruto has no control), and any difference between those two base Narutos should be negligible in comparison. I interpret the seal "allowing more chakra over time" as access to more tails, which I think is consistent with Naruto actually using more tails over time.

You don’t talk about Tsunade’s durability thinking Pain just claps Tsunade before Jiraiya and Orochimaru arrive.
Tsunade specifically taught Sakura evasion skills and would have tanked a Catastrophic Almighty Push if she didn’t need to protect the villagers. Even when Madara cut her in half she survived and Tatsuya was going to reattach her but she insisted on keeping the other Kage alive first.
Also Tsunade does have slow attacks but in this case it would just be used to create distant between the Pain. Throwing rubble she creates around or creating shockwaves to impede the Pains
