Orochimaru was always getting stronger with age so even if he was weaker at that point, his powerlevel increased by a lot. You could even make the argument that Orochimaru (as any shinobi that isn't a god) wouldn't start a big ass fight in the middle of a hostile village, so even if he had a good chance against Hiruzen, he wouldn't fight only Hiruzen.
I'm pretty sure that when Orochimaru Edo Tenseid Hiruzen he didn't give him full power and he did it on purpose and we actually never saw Hiruzen at full power in a fight
