From a viewer perspective, the G2 storyline should be celebrated as what it is - the most enjoyable tournament run in several years.
Exactly broo, i was on the edge of my seat in every g2 game!!! Especially playoffsss
People love to discredit wins no matter what.
Perfect, i have 3 hours left of my 7 hour work shift. This is a life saver
bro this and thorin gave me so much to focus on during amazon delivery for 6 months
Ropz misses his best friend. He isn't used to being baited. They're baiting each other with Frozen rn
Frozen is the master baiter bro. (No pun intended) he did it alot to Jimmy on mouz
@@douglaced5910it beats me how anyone would think Frozen is an upgrade over Twistzz honestly. People threw a tantrum because he wasn't in the top 10 last year and I remember Striker explaining why they didn't place him as high as people expected. He saved almost as much as BlameF. He's so overrated.
@@elizabethmurigi1131Twistzz, ropz, and blamef are all insane baiters man, it's just how slow rifles work in tier 1
@@lankyhanky9772 Twistzz? No bro
@@elizabethmurigi1131 thats literally not what happened though. twistzz left faze for liquid bc at the time ownership was a huge question mark. Literally until Jason Lake bought Col back, it was very likely that Faze would be sold off in pieces.
Niko is in his IGL era now for sure. It's time. Apart from that they have enough firepower, what they need now is a strong spirit and confidence. They also have a really good basis with an existing system and strong chemistry between most of them. Just give them like 2 months with Stewie2k.
Bruh, he's been in his IGL era since 2016 when he IGL'd MOUZ. He just got shit on so badly for it in FaZe that he stopped.
@@zettour.been like 5 years since he IGL’d in faze, we’re acting like players have no capacity to grow here
@@morganwartman8507 Do you mean regress? Because my point was he was already able to IGL before.
@@zettour. ah my bad, misread your comment thought you were saying that since he failed at IGLing in faze he would fail again
@@morganwartman8507 Nah, I didn't mean he failed. I meant he got hated on and criticized by the community so much that it dissuaded him from IGLing again.
People are really off on the stew discourse. People saying stew played well are delusional, even he said he didnt play that well.
However, he did play admirably as someone coming into tier 1 pro play for the first time in 2 years (Faceit games are irrelevant for this level so he might as well be completely fresh.) He also added intangibles and was an X-factor in many swing rounds despite poor individual performance. Basically everything points to him getting better individually, being as his only issue by the end was aim, not his decision making, teamplay or nerves. And if there's one aspect where you'd have never doubted yung stew was his aim.
So it is simultaneously the case that he played bad, and also that he should get a tier 1 offer. Because we can expect a lot of the good parts of his performancs to remain, and the bad parts to improve.
You may have meant this regarding "intangibles" but I think Stewie's two biggest boons to his team was helping them keep their cool sometimes and being the factor most of the crowd was cheering for.
Both, though to do with player mentality, can be as instrumental as a fragger and they certainly help on stage.
G2 winning the Dallas final is a testament to how terrible Vitality's decision-making is, and XTQQZ is as a coach. There is ZERO excuse for losing the way they did. 2.5 vs 5 grand final and you struggle to close maps even with a significant lead and even on your own map pick. The cherry on top, your opponent does not have an IGL and they are playing with a stand in missing for 2 years and whom is horrible at the moment. Before that, you get bodied 3-0 by a team with a fraction of the experience you have with pound for pound "worse" players than your own roster at pro league. Shameful. Vitality need to beg Zonic and Magisk to come back and give them the bag.
Ah, a fellow XTQZZZ hater. Seriously, this guy has the French by the balls for some reason. He ruined Vitality once before with his terrible roster construction and now he's going to showcase how terrible he is tactically as a coach. Not to mention the Game of Thrones level bullshit he pulled on Aleksi in G2.
On top that, the whole reason XTQZZZ is back is because they asked zonic, the greatest coach in CS history, to take a paycut after he just won you the major. What a joke of an org.
Zywoo went missing on that last map
@zettour. I couldn't have put it better myself. You are 110% right. I hate this guy for pulling thst BS with Jackz over Amanek and getting rid of Aleksi. He's literally a homewrecker and everyone else suffers as a result.
@Jerome-iwnl Of course he did. He played his heart out on that stage and delivered on 2 maps. On Nuke, the most tactical map in the game, the poor guy didn't get any support, and no one else except Mezii did anything to try to get the team into a position where Zywoo could refocus. Yes, he missed important shots, but the whole time, Vitality never came up with anything clever on T side and on CT side they played the same freaking positions. For example, mezii was always at what they call Twistzz on rafters with one other dood, Zywoo would always have to do a long rotate to A, and eventually G2 just freaking entry'd them dry and dominated the upper site. Zywoo disappeared because he was always having to play retake with an AWP. The coach needs to drill better rotations and protocols into this team.
@zettour. He made literally one poor choice with kyojin and slam dunked everything else. Was definitely one of the best coaches at that time period.
NOW however. I am dissapointed a bit with how vitalitys system has looked since he joined. But I don't think his past work should be discredited just because he's currently seemingly failing.
Thank you for getting me through work lads
So, prof got some strange in Dallas!
“Making the most out of the opportunities” haha
Hell yeah prof
Are you five? Nobody talks like that.
Striker honestly strikes me as a bit blinded by this result, still trying to make sense of it. Unless hes just trying to provide contradiction for the sake of conversation, but either way he comes off as a tad too negative and heavy handed in approach. Also this result along with the Boston major I think really puts the onus on looking at how important mentality and just "vibes" are in this game, I mean there's something to be said for this right? It seems to me like its almost akin to a placebo effect, where this powerful feeling just lifts the spirit of the team to reach crazy heights regardless of the obstacles and odds.
Agreed he just sounds so insufferable.
@@Yougotbaited24 i agree, its just a bit too heavy and depressing, especially for such a glorious moment in e sports history.

Should be "Fluke" not "Fraud" rating
Striker clearly have no idea what he's talking about. NiKo is more often than not already planning for the next round when the team loses instead of tilting at anyone, even himself for more than a few seconds.

Were you paying attention to the last time NiKo was IGLing and how that ended?
Can we all just agree Stewie did his job and nothing more? He had an impact every now and then. He wasn't an insane liability. He wasn't scared to go in first and make room for the team. He just did his job.
There's an awful lot to be said for someone who turns up and just does their job.
I absolutely agree with you. Bringing just some graft and the backing of an entire crowd live is a strong pair of positive aspects.
I feel like it should be "Fluke" not "fraud." Fraud implies a team was SUPPOSED to do well, but didn't.
i think it shouldn't be "fluke" nor "fraud", but rather "surprise-" or "darkhorse-" win, which it is, just like the Major for example, or other winners of tournaments

"We don't need to make up a narrative for every single stage of every player[/team]" - this is the absolute headline for this episode, and it should become a Mantra for everyone from the community, thank you Professeur!
I really hate how in hindsight after a few tourneys everyone is trying to shit on NAVI for winning the Major as a "darkhorse" - not as a "fluke".
No one talked like that about 2021 Faze or Vita when they had like only 1 cheap tourney won per year. It's so annoying and disgusting how everyone from the community just tries to hate on teams they think should be winning 24/7, while it physically cannot be, as the scene is so advanced, that I dare to say we will NEVER see another team "making the Astralis" again. Everyone caught up to the competition and can surprise each in a different tournament - deal with it instead of crying and coping about a team you hate winning it.
To give some credit to Astralis no one was winning that consistently even before they came around basically just a enigma not the norm
@@m8mZ i mean there have been multiple teams winning multiple events and even majors, so those were always title contenders. Astralis just raised both the ceiling and the floor of the game, so others had to catch up first. Now that many of those things are established and even raised further and everyone learned since then, the competition is higher and also on a more equal level, hence there is no one single team dominating every tournament, because almost any team can beat any team
tbf Navi bombed out of every tournament they attended this year aside of the major. no playoffs in Dallas or katowice. 1st round out in epl
@@FreddeLibre so they didn't bomb out of every tournament, since they reached playoffs in epl (and won Blast Spring Groups over G2 btw) and you made a fool out of yourself? thanks
@@nergal2741 spring groups is not a tournament. making first round of playoffs at fucking Epl is bombing out
What people forget to mention is that Vitality beat G2 once in the tournament handidly. It was a blowout. So comparing the game G2 played the final vs vitality was way better than the first round.
Crowd buff
40:00 I thought the same with donk when he finally played higher skilled
On dust2 Vitality were playing with slightly shuffled roles. By default and usual scenario apex would be the main opponent of donk. The result of such duels is obvious. Not only donk is a young amazing aimer, but also his teammates usually sacrifice themselves, so the prodigy can take trades and farm K/D. That is pretty common for this team.
Mathieu was playing much more closer to spots where donk was searching for those "dream duels" with apex. Also some additional swaps and utility distrib. were made, but nvm - the main idea was to put donk in unusual and super uncomfortable situation, - unavoidable increase in amount of duels with Zywoo, while your teammates under constant pressure, that prevents them from playing a babysitter role for the main carry.
Interesting enough, it worked out perfectly. Donk's aim is not what will make him one of the best players in nearest future. His aim is very good, but nowadays all 15-18 y.o. talents have outstanding skills in it. What makes him special - his movements, strafes and positioning, as they are absolutely insane. His "modern" usage of ctrl ( which is tbh pretty common among cs2 pro-newcommers ) is outstanding. So he is an absolute beast when it comes to taking trades after teammates sacrifice and he also nicely prolonges 'em into multikills.
He choked against a better player with more exp. and instead of that cringe rage should learn to win in the future
Just imagine that G2 wants to win more than one tournament a year, when the hooxie has an average kill count per map of 0-8 and if he played 1 cd then he is in great shape.
Any NA team taking up Stewie will be good for marketing. Imagine the number of jerseys to be sold
G2 had 0 pressure this event, throwing the IGL role on Niko is just stupid. Hes too good of a player to be IGL, you want him clicking heads not worrying about other players and calling
BIG WANG GANG
Isn't the compensation the prize pool?
GJ Prof, all things considered.
*edit: get some sun Chad.
**double edit. Striker, if Niko igl's by the end of the year, then what? I know nothing but what's been shared in the æther, tho seems like Niko knows the work involved in being a hired IGL. Do you think he wanna work more? (im thinking the pay wont be relatable to the increase in work needed.)
57:50 - I’m happy launders started the “fraud” thing, but then I remember how everybody has jumped on it and completely lost the meaning. The whole point was to identify players and teams whose real performance doesn’t match their reputation/perception.
Standin buff has been real for years. I think it's because teams take a step back from hardcore antistratting and play a more basic version of their respective systems
32:40 @Striker he has trouble spraying due to nerves. you could see that his aim was giga shaky and definitely the nerves were getting to him and you could tell from his crosshair movements. very shaky and panicky and going everywhere. definitely not like how he plays in faceit while streaming. he definitely needs more reps in tournaments to keep composure in high pressure situations
Can’t agree more on that ZywOo vs m0nesy everyone is a victim of it.
1:21:10 spunj being jks' agent
Always has been.
I enjoyed this G2 run a lot. But, should we still keep pretending that crowd didn't make huge impact on G-stew results?)
that they were supposed to go deeper about spirit was kinda L take spirit being supposed to go deeper than faze is like saying partizan belgrade can go deeper than mancity in UCL.
In terms of 'framing' the tournament, I don't think anyone is really taking it all that seriously in terms of what it means for rosters, outside of maybe G2. Pretty sure most people are just taking it for what it is: a fun tournament with a great storyline.
Striker and Professeur are just haters. Stewie played Hooxi's role perfectly despite coming back to CS2's tier 1 on LAN out of the blue after 2 years. To downplay his impact on G2's run, who beat the 3 tops teams, is lazy "journalism". Compare the stats. Monesy, Niko and Hunter all were around their statistical averages for the year. Nexa was below his and Stewie was performing the same as Hooxi's average. G2's system just worked this event and Stewie gave them belief and motivation (per Niko's words). Hooxi was also involved in the background with strategy. This Dallas win proves that Stewie can still perform at the highest level in a team-first type of role. Many teams would want a selfless player like that on their roster.
Perfectly? Holy fucking burger brain
If he can get his fragging abilities up then yes. On T side he goes first and gets traded, that is true but on CT side he is just bad. Without niko going ham besides moneys that always goes nuts this wouldnt have been a win. Niko did this event what he is supposed to do.
@@Simtalniusyes, perfectly. He had a good understanding of when and how to take space and even when he went 0 or 1 for 1 it helped Niko and m0nesy immensely. Not to mention his impact on site holds once or twice per game.
It wasn't perfect, but I do think his most impactful moments exceeded that of hooxis.
I agree with you on Stewie improving mood and giving them more belief.
It's true he did his job as a roleplayer, but absolutely not perfectly. You're defending Stew when he himself admitted that his performance wasn't up to par, which it wasn't and shouldn't be considering his circumstances (rusty from not playing, stand-in, etc).
It's undeniable though that Stew was a massive factor for G2 in terms of mental and filling gaps that HooXi couldn't in the team. With some more officials and scrims, he'll be back eventually to the pro scene in full.
Open qualifiers were taken down because how bad the cheating issue was last time, its valve avoiding fixing their game littered with cheaters. I believe if the general community is suffering from the massive amount of cheats then so should the esports scene, so bring back open quals until they fix the anti cheat!
its funny how G2 get "jks" as substitute, wins the tournament. Then goes back to "regular team" sucks, then gets Stewie as substitute, wins the tournament...says pretty much about how good G2 is at building their team, they dont know what they need themselfs but gets lucky with subs
I checked the list of standins for G2 and jks wasn't one of them, he subbed twice for Faze though (once for rain once for ropz)
I think the Dallas crowd effect is real: you got C9 carried to victory by the crowd and now G2.
PS stewie getting love is great, but let's not kid ourselves - he was nearly the lowest rated player on the server for that match, and maybe for the tournament.
First pro CS tournament in 2 years & first win in like 5. Stewies numbers are not an issue right now. If they carry on, then there is an issue.

Zywoo is going down as my most overrated player of all time. He should not even be in a conversation for best in the world.
I got to disagree. Especially if consider S1mple as a GOAT. (I don't, but CS community consensus dictates otherwise.)
Zywoo is basically hard carrying Vitality to finals. And if he fails to hardcarry them even a slightest team crumbles. That's basically the Narrative that made S1mple goat and if S1mple is GOAT because he hard carried NaVi, it's only fair to give zywoo the same treatment
The only other 2 peope who as hard carry as Zywoo right now is Donk and M0nesy
