    That's good paint. I buy it at Tractor Supply. I painted a boat and trailer Ford Red before. Looked great. Currently painting camper shell on my Silverado IH Red. Will look good when done. Gonna paint my bigger boat trailer next. Good stuff.

    Thanks. I just did this today. I mixed 6 cups black to a gallon of MF gray. It's slightly darker, (by a third, of course) yet holds a nice contrast while blending in with the tires and their natural blackish gray color. No thinner used, it goes on just fine and settled down.

    How’s the pair holding up at 3 years now? Come spring my 1st gen is going to be IH red, and there is a TSC near me.

    Why has no one in any of these videos about implement paint bothered to wet sand and polish the orange peel?

      Because it's a truck.

      That's a fair and good question.Likely has to do with the fact that painters get good results with paint that doesn't cost that much more in the big picture.I just brushed a coat of Majic primer on the bottom of my truck box. I'll then top coat it with another product again with a brush. The brushing is mainly so I don't mess up my house with over spray...though there will need to be some to get where the brush cannot get. I have 25 years in making things shine and will work on a project , but odds are if I can make it shine, it won't last long

      I have the same question. This paint has a lot of orange peel which is not good for my application. I've used Van Sickle implement paint with good results but shipping cost are bad. I can buy the Majic from a local Tractor Supply. Have you tried color sanding your paint?

    Hello, 3 gallons of black and gray? How many gallons of clear? About how much did you pay for all your supplies?
    Thank you

    Did you sand in between each color coat? I know it recommends you wait 24 hours between every coat but I was thinking you'd be sanding off most of the previous coat prepping for the next one?

      I waited, but I did not sand.

      Lacquer paint or clear coat is not a good long term choice. It is strongly recommended that you choose a urethane base and clear.

    How well is it holding up since its been a year now and did you thin the clear coat or use it straight out of the can? looks good man!!

      It is good! I used a bit of the thinner that they make. The same thinner I used with the paint.

    Awesome job! Planning to do my truck. Please help me with a couple of questions: the black you used in your mix.... was it the gloss black or matte? Also, that plastic grill that you painted... was it like a "chromed" plastic, and if so what kind of prep was required to spray that?

    • @ajloudermilktx
      @ajloudermilktx  4 роки тому +3

      It was the gloss, and they grey was the massey furgeson grey . It was not chromed plastic, just normal plastic so i sanded and primed it. I waited 24 hours between coats and waited a few days to wait on the clear coat.

      Thanks for the response. I've got my materials ordered. I'll shoot you a pic when I'm Done. One more question, I hope: did you sand the last color coat before you clear coated, and did you sand or polish the clear coat in any way? Looking forward to your response! Thanks!

    • @ajloudermilktx
      @ajloudermilktx  4 роки тому +1

      @@iccaris1 I did wet sand before clear. I forget how long I had to wait. I have not touched the clear. It would prolly look better/ smoother if I hit it with some 2000 grit but I actually like the rougher look and my trucks always dirty.

      Did you use any primer at all on ding repairs, etc? I have a few repair spots that I need to primer but the reviews on Majic primer are terrible. Im also reading horror stories of people that used incompatible primer that melted when they shot paint on it. Did you use any, and if so what kind? Thx again, AJ.

      about 1/3 black 2/3 massey grey. if you want specific measurements in oz I can get that for you. I just need to go look at the containers I used to mix it. Whole truck took little more than 3 gallons. I recommend using the clear. It really popped.
