It great to see work done cheap. The big buck restorations look fantastic, but the owners then shy away from driving the cars for fear of chipping the paint or even getting caught in the rain. Cars are made to be driven. "Car Collectors" hoard up their favorite cars, many never to see the light of day again. It is nice to have the money to collect cars, but most of us "collect" the affordable cars and drive the hell out of them (like they were built to be used). They may have the exotic collectables, but we get the enjoyment of being able to drive ours. Great video, great car, great guys.
I applaud the job you did and all the effort that went into the job. I think it looks great. You will realize a night and day difference once yku buff her out. The car look even better than it already does! I have an old 1968 4 door Chevelle that i intend to do exactly the same thing you did. My old 68 will never be worth much, so reality dictates a paint job done on the cheap like you did. What always makes the difference is paying close attention to the prep details like you did. The end result will not like like a show car, but the car will never be worth a paint job like that so, like you did, I will paint it on the cheap, make it look better, and be proud of the outcome again, just like you guys have done. I would love to see how it looks once done and polished out.

When I was growing up my dad owned a body shop in Mid Missouri, My aunt and Uncle lived in Park Hills for 25 years or so btw, and being in the middle of Farm Country we painted ALOT of fam equipment and used alot of Tractor paint, I've used Tractor paint on probally 75 cars over the years, I;ve even mixed it and created custom colors, When my baby sister turned 16 I gave her a 62 Galaxie that I bought in a package deal from a Real Estate Auction and we painted it International White and after we painted the main body I throw a 1/2 quart of New Holland and almost a full quart of Case Red in the 1/3 ish gallon of White I had left and threw it in the paint shaker and created a custom purple and sprayed the Roof and painted a custom pinstripe down the side, 13 years later she still has it. I will say over the last 20 years or so Tractor Paint has came a LONG way.
@@DEADCARRESCUE I use the Majic Brand Paint, and just buy their Hardner and Thinner that's made for specifically for tractor paint, I also use a 5 part paint and 1.5 part thinner, it makes it spray better and you don't get alot of egg shell/orange peel look so you don't have to cut it as much before you buff. The good thing about the Majic brand is it it's a single stage paint so no clear coat needed.

I have been doing body work for 49 years full time. nI never use those PITA filters. I do strain everything that goes into the gun and the gun is broken down to clean every job.
Me and flash live in Arkansas. Bobby lives in park hills and he doesn’t have any wheels and we don’t either. We just search FB Marketplace for wheels n such. Good luck!
I always liked the Biscayne, because it was so basic. Years later, the Caprice seems to have filled that slot, the Bel-Aire is gone, and the Impala is... what???
I learned about farm equipment paint in 98 when I was working at a machine shop. They used it on the sand reclaimers. The guy who painted them always bought old trucks and repainted them with it. Was like 20 bucks a gallon then and it always looked great compared to what they started as. It’s just a shame you can’t get 400 beaters that run good anymore!
People at swap meets are asking $400 for old car steering wheels on some old stuff. I bought the whole car for $400 in the 70’s. It’s a sellers market today.
@@DEADCARRESCUE… that paint job looks great to me! The best painter I’ve ever watched was a Puerto Rican guy down in Miami paint his 1972 Chevy Malibu convertible in his garage (gloss black w/white hood & trunk stripes) when it was pouring down rain outside. I asked him about the potential problems with all the humidity, and all he could say in his broken English was “Nah, mang…it dung matter…” That damn paint came out like GLASS. It was all in the PREPARATION that mattered to him, and damn - it surely showed afterwards…
When it said 50$ paint job. I was expecting to see a car that was just masked off. Not glass and everything else removed. That’s a lot of work! Please share the finished product. Thanks
It would have had more runs than we could have counted if we did have. We are beginners and had no idea what we were doing. I will remember that when I paint my fairlane though.
Flash seems like a good dude to hang out with but his painting technique and gun need some refinement... If you wet sand it and buff it the dry spots will shine up. Putting more paint on top of that will usually make things worse.
We all need to work around a real painter and learn. But since we don’t like to listen lol we just jump in with both feet. That’s just the way older guys like us operate. I get on you tube and watch how to do things sometimes but it’s usually after I’ve screwed up. Thanks for watching.
Agreed. I'm an "old dude" too and I've been painting for about 30 years as a DIY dude. I've learned more through trial and error than anything else. One thing is true about automotive paint (single stage enamel, lacquer, or more so with base/clear) is that gun pattern (fan and volume) is critical to application and the pattern here is way, way too narrow with too much volume (pressure seemed decent however which is great!). A wide, even pattern with 50% overlap is going to get you better results. Wet sanding and buff-out will fix most of the issues you have. Time and patience will get it looking legit for almost no money. @@DEADCARRESCUE
Well I've been paint for 30 years and every gun I've bought doesn't come with those filters i guess cheap guns only come with those and why would you use that kinda paint on a good straight car you know in a year or 2 its gonna look like well
Like I told another guy, we use what we have. And that’s for my channel. We aren’t painters as you can see in the video but that video is very popular because in 3 days it’s climbed to # 3 and will pass my top two videos soon. I would say that if you require tractor or Rustoleum paint, primer, hardener, acetone, paint thinner, masking tape, masking paper, sand paper, and body fillers to paint your car, then … no; you cannot paint a car for $50.00. Probably more like $250-350 for all that but that’s still cheap for a car paint job!
Maybe. But basically talking about just the $47 a gallon paint we bought. We still have a quart or more left over. Our labor???? Maybe $20 lol. Would you hire us and pay more than that? I don’t think so lol
Is that an ARKANSAS STREET ROD license plate hanging on the wall ? Hell I'm here in central Arkansas . Y'all couldn't do any worse of a paint job as me and my brother-in-law painted a pickup about 40 years ago . Everybody said it was the friendliest truck they ever saw , it was WAVING at everyone constantly . Too much BEER . Numerous metallic shades of a pretty Blue . I think it dried finally about a month later .
You’re right. I watch a lot of you tube paint videos and I actually painted the drivers side top portion like that. I told them but they still did it their way. Oh well at 68 years old they won’t listen to their younger brother lol. I’m use to being ignored on advise I guess.

That looks great for a $75 paint job. Enjoy not having to lose sleep because you got a rock chip lol.
thanks it was painted outside too. @@DEADCARRESCUE
I reckon if you had a good time that's all that mattered and you took care of the surface rust?
Plus 50,000 views and 257 more subscribers. That’s a good day for me. I want to paint another one lol
Not bad I might say 👍
Thank you.
Painted my 66 Chevy C10 with NAPA tractor paint (single stage enamel), Ford New Holland Red. Put on three coats, wet sanded with 1500 and buffed it out - looks pretty darn good. Cost me about $125.
That’s cool. I might try that on my fairlane. Thanks.
What are the future plans for this build? Are you going to show more paint progress? Hope you enjoyed your day Drag Races.
Bob has started buffing it already. He lives 4 hours away from me and Gordon so the filming the progress has ended. Well show some pictures he sends me after he puts everything back on the car. Thanks for watching and subscribing, I really appreciate the comments also.
Should have saved up & bought the right paint!
I have been doing body work for 49 years full time. nI never use those PITA filters. I do strain everything that goes into the gun and the gun is broken down to clean every job.
Ok I appreciate the tip. I really enjoy the feedback from my viewers. Thanks for watching and if you haven’t subscribed please do so. Thank you
"Riiiiight.... I can paint any car for $49.95." Earl Shibe... lol
Lol Yep!
Leave the windows and they do the interior for free !!
Hey bud you have any wheels that'd fit a s10???..not sure what town in missouri you live in ...but I'dont live to far from park hills
Me and flash live in Arkansas. Bobby lives in park hills and he doesn’t have any wheels and we don’t either. We just search FB Marketplace for wheels n such. Good luck!
Y'all know that paint gun is adjustable, so you can spray wider than a 4 inch pattern ,right????
Yes but my brother Bob is just learning and he would have runs everywhere. I painted the drivers side top portion in like a minute.
That's looks Damm good for 50.00
Thank you and thanks for watching us.
what was the mixing ratio for the paint ????
Not sure, I’m a grinder guy not a paint guy lol
Well great job looks black❤❤😂😂😂😂
We learned a lot of what NOT to do on that video lol.
I always liked the Biscayne, because it was so basic.
Years later, the Caprice seems to have filled that slot, the Bel-Aire is gone, and the Impala is... what???
I found that car for $200 in 2019. It was rough and looks much better today. Please subscribe and thanks for watching.
I asked him about the potential problems with all the humidity, and all he could say in his broken English was “Nah, mang…it dung matter…”
That damn paint came out like GLASS. It was all in the PREPARATION that mattered to him, and damn - it surely showed afterwards…
When it said 50$ paint job. I was expecting to see a car that was just masked off. Not glass and everything else removed. That’s a lot of work! Please share the finished product. Thanks
Bob went too far removing that glass. Now he has to figure out how it goes back lol.
Need a wider the spray pattern
It would have had more runs than we could have counted if we did have. We are beginners and had no idea what we were doing. I will remember that when I paint my fairlane though.
The top adjustment on the spray gun is your fan pattern, the bottom is paint delivery
To get viewers and subscribers I will do what ever it takes. I hope you will keep watching and I don’t mind criticism. Thank you!
Need to widen that fan out and open the needle up a bit
There were no runs. That’s what we were trying to avoid. It worked out ok.
Just Subd. Looks great!
Thank you sir! :)
I like seeing old timers that can barely see ,say look how good it looks.😅😅😅
Well if you live long enough, you will get to see a lot more old timers who can barely see. But it won’t be so funny when it’s you and your friends.
@@DEADCARRESCUE Oh I'm 60 years old retired and did paint and body for over 30 years. I was just joking around with you guys.
Y'all going to haul shine in her😂
We could as big as that trunk is. :)
@@DEADCARRESCUE love it looks awesome 😎
Add a 3 point hitch and your ready to plow😂😂😂
Exactly! And we could be doing that if my brother says he wants one ;)
Well how about a diet Pepsi cola❤❤❤
Oh I can’t do diet anything lol
Is that an ARKANSAS STREET ROD license plate hanging on the wall ? Hell I'm here in central Arkansas . Y'all couldn't do any worse of a paint job as me and my brother-in-law painted a pickup about 40 years ago . Everybody said it was the friendliest truck they ever saw , it was WAVING at everyone constantly . Too much BEER . Numerous metallic shades of a pretty Blue . I think it dried finally about a month later .
40 miles east of Jonesboro near Manila Arkansas is where I live.
Being a two door i don't understand why not using a better paint. In 6 months it'll be all faded out.
Because Bob is 75 years old and has a $47 budget. We all make do with what we have. Besides you tube old guys seem to love stretching a dollar
I saw one major flaw in how he painted...he did not run the entire panel that makes a very uneven paint job on a nice flat surface ....
You’re right. I watch a lot of you tube paint videos and I actually painted the drivers side top portion like that. I told them but they still did it their way. Oh well at 68 years old they won’t listen to their younger brother lol. I’m use to being ignored on advise I guess.
@@DEADCARRESCUE I know how that feels
Yes,you don't stop half way on the fender and then spray the other half, you paint in on motion
Now he just needs to cut and buff it.😁
He said he went and bought a new buffer and had already buffed one fender.
More then 50 bucks. Labor alone is more then that
$2 a gallon primer that came from a yard sale. I bought 4 gallons for $8. Paint was $47 and I never charge myself for labor.
If someone is there to paint or work on your car that is a bad Chad fan you need to get in your car and leave immediately
My brother Bob Is the bad Chad fan and it’s his car.
Who is bad chad
Pull him up on you tube if your serious.
How can you call this 'Old School?" Old School would be COACH PAINTING which is painting with a brush, NOT a sprayer.
My viewers liked this video more than any of my others. YOU want to complain so complain to someone else.
@@DEADCARRESCUE I asked you a simple question. It would appear that you lack the mental capacity to answer a simple question. You seem to be someone who exhibits childlike behavior.
You're not a professional painter? Well it ain't professional paint! So you should be just fine.
I’ve had only a few haters and many many subscribers so far it’s my best watched video. Thank you for watching and subscribe if you haven’t already.
Paint costs more than 50 dollars
$46 at tractor supply. We had leftover hardner from another cheap paint job.
You realise there are adjustments to your spray gum don't you? Your gun is set for detail spray? That's why you have orange peel, and it took so long to cover the car. Terrible paint job buddy.
So…… Does that mean you aren’t going to hire me to paint cars for you?
I believe he did say that he was not a professional. Always someone with a negative comment! Geez
My Brother & I..... not Me & My
We learnt that in scoole but we left it there.
Looks pretty bad
Thanks! We feel so much better now that we have your opinion.
Looks good to me 👍
Thank you.
How wide was that paint gun pattern?
Well I think my brothers weren’t squeezing the trigger all the way. I painted the drivers side top at the beginning and it took about a minute to do it. But we were all learning and we had no runs so it was ok for us to learn on.
That's what you call a 50-50 paint job It looks good 50 feet away or at 50 mph lol
And to older people. Lol
Looks good
Thank you ;)
