@@dazzatv9571yeah but they were going to make them darker less bright and entire dalek storyline was abandoned because people didn’t like the design. It wasn’t that bad and they were going to less brightly coloured in the next episode. I think it would have grown on people if the show runner had stuck with them pushed thru the initial backlash I think it would have been very successful but sadly he didn’t
Big Finish actually did a release earlier this year called Victory of the Doctor, which not only features the Paradigm Daleks but also showcases the events in-universe that cause them to disappear. And it's honestly brilliant, for a crap design, they get one of the strongest depictions of any Dalek story I've come across in Doctor Who
the Chameleon Circuit being repairable is one thing...I'd say slightly worse is the fact that the "WOOOMPH WOOOMPH WOOOOOMPH" Is apparently caused by a switch he can just turn off. As funny as that joke admittedly was.
Bit of both, the e brake kicks on when he lands, but he can flip a switch to reset them. I think he doesn't do it because most of the time he is trying to get out of the blast radius.
I really want to know what RTD was thinking when he had Mickey and Martha married. No one was shipping them to my knowledge and Martha was already married to that other guy, so what happened with that?
The Doctor can repair the chameleon circuit. But the TARDIS will reject the repair. In fact, when you talk about the Doctor's attempts at repairing it, an obvious in-universe explanation is that it's the TARDIS itself that doesn't want it repaired.
I am apparently the only one who has no problem with Mickey and Martha, both are fighters, both are great, and in that small moment they seemed to have a lot of chemistry, probably met up due to Captain Jack Harkness, since they both know him, probably met through him.
I liked it as well AND it honestly annoys me that people keep shitting on Mickey the same way Rose did. As if he wasn’t a fighter in the end, hell he chose to stay in a whole different universe than the one Rose was in because he knew he would be of greater value there. If Martha did end up with it, then we have two people that would do anything and everything to protect their world, that will be an amazing team.
I always thought that them ending up together was kind of satisfying. Them both finding love with someone who gets the twisty turns their lives have taken to get them where they are? I dig it. I also do think that a lot of people definitely treat Miki with the sort of disdain that The Doctor seemed to view him with in the beginning, and they're so used to seeing him as second-rate compared to The Doctor when it comes to Rose's affections, that they see it as Martha ending up with Rose's pathetic cast-off.
Agreed, though I kind of like what Davies is doing with that, tapping more deeply into the "found family" approach that's always been important to the Doctor/companion mix.
@@lexruptor Because like most of what happened during the Chibnal era it was poorly executed, badly written and overall terrible. The only thing I really liked during that entire run was the Lone Cyberman. He was kind of like an anti-Doctor, but then they used him as an one-off villain. It's really a pitty that the first female Doctor will forever be associated with that terrible showrunner, she definitely deserved better.
The multi-coloured Daleks are a NEW paradigm for the Daleks. Paradigm is a noun which means "model" or "pattern", and you need a qualifying adjective to signify which paradigm/model/pattern you're referring to. So we have the "New Paradigm" Daleks, the "Bronze Paradigm" Daleks and, if you like, the "Old Paradigm" of the Classic Era. The term "Paradigm Daleks" on its own is essentially meaningless, because EVERY Dalek since 1963 has been based on one paradigm/model/pattern or another.
I don't know. I always thought Tegan's response to seeing Saville on the screen was highly appropriate. Something like "It's horrible!" It felt very prescient in retrospect.
Am I the only one who thinks Martha & Mickey marrying is just fine? They both grew up & grew a pair and went off. It’s nice to know they found each other. It’s very sweet. I do not understand the hate.
I don't know about you, but I DON'T want to forget the K9 series, Scream of the Shalka or Doctor in Distress which I rather liked. In fact, speaking of Doctor Who-based productions not authorised by the BBC, there was also a series of specials that have been released by BBV Productions and Reeltime Pictures and I rather like several of them. I think that Scream of the Shalka may have been a stepping stone to the animated reconstructions of the missing First and Second Doctor episodes. And how about we all sing Doctor in Distress until the BBC intend to fix Doctor Who, eh?
We all know the Chameleon circuit broke as the BBC realised how much it would cost to redesign the Tardis for every episode. So we ended up with the iconic blue box.
A small detail the BBC removed is the “drunk giraffes” from season 5 episode 15 during the wedding. Additional text: the title is “The big bang”. Season 5 is based on my dvds and Prime Video classification, it’s written like this. And I understand it’s a little bit confusing.
if you go by who lore as a whole, 11th sabotaged the chameleon circuit in the first doctor's TARDIS so that it stays a police box. Later 6th fixes it and it bugs out and becomes an organ and then a closet, it also randomly goes back to being a police box if memory serves. I also had no idea about the jim'll fix it for doctor who..... oh god
If I were a writer on Doctor Who, I'd have the Chamelion Circiut fixed. This can allow the Doctor to actually hid the TARDIS when ne wants. But the blue blox iconography can stay by way of having the primary form being the Blue Police Box when not being disguised. Perhaps even have part of the disguise on the new disguises be a TARDIS blue. For example, if the TARDIS took the form of a piano, it could be with the black keys being TARDIS blue instead. The Paradigm Daleks weren't the first multi-color variant. Early on in Doctor Who, they had different colored Daleks. Although, for the most part, they did look better.
When you create such a scenario in your story you will face difficulty later on in creating intensive story's like where the doctor can't use the Tardis because the enemy did stole it. There is a reason why story's where the protagonist has constrains on himself, his abilities or access to tools are better (in the long run). The sonic screwdriver itself is overpowered enough, it's only limitation is wood. Therefore it is used as a simple way out of a story , but also raises the questions in other story's "Why did he not just use his sonic screwdriver to do this in the first place?" .
The outside kinda changes a bit when the Doctor does.. so I think the chameleon circuit is already fixed on standard blue box. The "someone else's problem circuit" aka "perception filter" does the rest.
@DrWhoFanJ the storyline dismantles over 60 years of lore. You're the kind of person who will watch Doctor Who, no matter what storyline they put out. Actually, this is my problem. Because the fans keeps the show running. The number of people who no longer watch Doctor Who is increasing due to low-ratings. It will reach a point where the show gets cancelled. When that happens, the fans who no longer watch the show will get blamed for not watching a TV show that sucks.
Perhaps Doctor In Distress can be retconned as Maestro doing their worst! In 10 years time when Whoculture does their 5th list in this series, I expect both Space Babies and the unsatisfactory resolution to Empire of Death to feature on the list.
I actually liked Martha and Mickey being married. They both know the Doctor. So no secrets are needed. I also like the idea of Martha being a widow, if she returns.
martha ending up marrieng mickey i rly liked it was an awesome ending for their stories ... who cared about her 2 second onscreen marriage with some random doctor oO also colorful daleks was awesome ... is this 10 things doctor who wants me to forget or 10 things this writer just came up with out of the blue to write a cheap video xD
yes! absolutely ruined rhe franchise. i sropped watching it completely at some point. i think ot was the rogue earth episode, i was just Done.... it had fires burning in an oxygen free area, and rhey had to make weird faces to fix some infection from a vending machine or whatever. it was rhe stupidest thing EVER.
But how? Literally how do they want you to forget it? David Tennant came back as the 14th doctor, In The Star Beast the villain was Beep the Meep from a 4th doctor comic, in The Giggle The Toymaker came back, in Rogue 1-15 (also War, Fugitive and Shalka) were shown and in Legend of Ruby Sunday and The Empire Of Death Sutekh was the villain, also from a 4th doctor story. If they wanted you to forget everything before 2017 then I don't think they would've added all of this.
my thing about the TARDIS and chameleon ciruit is that sure he can fix it but should he cause as of now(as far as ik) we havent seen what a REAL tardis looks like besides the diff police box and the various disguises so what would it even be?
From here on and forevermore, every time “worst of”, or “please forget” lists and the BBC come together, Jimmy Saville will manage to make the top of the list. And, yes, we all know why.
{10} Never heard of it, not really canon if it didn't have an episode. The universe of the show differs from the books, comics, and so on. Big Finish is probably the only additional source that could be considered connected to the show in proper. {9} The Doctor cannot fix the TARDIS Chamelion Circuit, and Attack of the Cybermen proves this fact by showing how bad a job he did at it. Don't blame the TARDIS if the show never said the TARDIS did it. {8} I think what they REALLY want you to forget here is that they threw out the tapes of these stories in the first place, thus causing the current problem. {7} This obviously means that Rogue's scanners have been able to pick up multiple continuities and points of re-written time, sort of like getting Rory the Nurse and Rory the Roman Auton. You DO realize that the Fluxx opened up the multiverse, right? {6} Still never heard of it, and apparently not canon, anyway. Moving on. {5} That one was a bit weird, I will admit. {4} I think you're missing the big picture, and I mean the BIG picture. Colorful Daleks were a staple in the Peter Cushing movies, which were not exceptionaly popular, despite...you know...having Peter Cushing. Even still, we have had *in the show* metallic, gray, white, blue, black, and gold during the classic series. This is a Your Milege May Vary moment. {3} Why? Because it's somehow damaging? I doubt it. {2} If it hasn't come out by now, it's not coming out. {1} Wasn't this a charity thing?
There is an explanation for that offered in the book 'I, TARDIS', basically a recount of the show from the TARDIS' perspective, as I recall it was something along the line of the TARDIS appearing in a way that would please 13 (which she knew because the TARDIS is atemporal).
9. Chibnall forgot. Even he admitted he never thought through The Timeless Child and had nothing in mind for resolving it. A generous interpretation of that particular storyline was that it was to give some mystery back to The Doctor. A less generous that he just wanted to make his mark on the show and didn't care how he did it really.
Probably best to just assume the timeline changes based on the actions of the Doctor and other time travellers meaning things that have happened maybe didn't then happen.
I'd take Space Babies over Orphan 55 ANY DAMN DAY. Space Babies was just poorly timed middling RTD stuff. Nothing surprising in it, but far from the worst the show's had to offer. It was lame, but wow it could have been a LOT worse.
@@packgrog The best thing about Orphan 55, is that it really made me appreciate Timelash a Hell of a lot more. Worst episode ever? Nah, at least Timelash has Paul Darrow in it, and Colin was good as ever.
I actually didn't hate experimenting with the colouring of the Daleks and brightly colours ones could be kind of cool but I HATED how big and bulky they were, the proportions were all wrong and clashed with the bright colours.
Honestly: I quite liked the paradigm Dalek design, yeah sure - the bright, block colors seemed very un-Dalek like - red or white would've done it, they've been Dalek colors before, but bright blue, yellow & orange...? but the design itself I thought was decent enough - saying 'they got promoted' or something is just dumb!: they're still Daleks, still the Doctors mortal enemy & still out there somewhere - should've had them come back in a quick storyline to have them destroyed if they were that reviled!
I like telesnap reconstructions, I watch both them and animated versions on a release. The animated versions often take liberties and don't give you the full impression of what the episodes looked like.
And I can’t stand them. If I want to hear the episodes, then I’ll just listen to them from the CD releases. Having random pictures on screen adds nothing useful.
Lets be honnest Martha marrying Micky was just weird, like RTD needed to put them in a single scene. I know Mickey had grown, but damn, they were the couple of The Doctors and Roses rejects.
Idk, I liked it. It was sweet, they both know rejection, both rejections revolve around the Doctor, they find eachother and understand what the other is going through, I get it.
The inclusion of Richard E Grants head in Rogue could also be a hint at The Great Intellagence going into The Doctors time stream in Name of the Doctor
"Gatwa while in costume .." What cosutme? He wore so many different things it was like RTD was using him as his onscreen dress-up toy. And describing Kempner as supremely talented I am assuming was meant ironically.
@@DrWhoFanJ Okay, well if you could list out about 5 comfortable examples of film, TV or theatre productions she has featured in as an actress that leads you to such an affirming opinion that you deem strong enough to disallow the opinion on anyone who may differ. Research has shown by constantly doing it it can alter parts of the brain over time. It says the buzz from the insults trigger hormones such as oxytocin, around a few certain lobal areas, increasingly making an individual believe those in "their group" more readily and undervaluing the intelligence of those whose views differ. here is a really good answer to your title for this video... "lets just forget EVERYTHING since Jodie regenerated... the rebooted element was pants (im being polite on that) .. everything especially the skaro short was awful. and i still stand by it the only reason they split the tardis and tennent and Ncuti was to secure RTD's Vision yet allowing Big Finish to continue also without RTD or Disney'a influence.. it is the ONLY logical reason for that story plot. the "SEASON 1" was FORCED with the identity agenda story plot rammed down evey ones throats.. coupled with "musicals" why the actual was that even there especially the Rip off of Labyrinth.. yeah Doctor Who isnt Doctor Who now at least in the 70's 80's and the early 2000's the storys made sence that kept you interested on TV and Big Finish keep to that tradition.. so yeah *bleep* what they want you to forget.. lets just forget everything since Jodie regenerated .. nuff said
How do I get into this show? I vaguely remember watching the 50th Anniversary of the Doctor in my late teens. I only remember, “Gallifrey Falls, No more.” Every time i try to approach it, I never know when to start. I was thinking of starting with the Christopher Ecclestron Doctor that would have been on when I was a kid.
@@judithstrachan9399 i look at Doctor Who like i look at Trek. I wouldn’t ever encourage people to start at the very beginning. The first season of TOS is similar to An Unearthly Child and that first Dalek story. Just too much film noir and desolate long shots of scenery. Sure, start at the beginning of a Doctor’s story, but don’t start at the beginning, unless you really like that old fashioned type of storytelling.
@@L33tSkE3t Alternately, you could start with one of the best, say “Vincent and the Doctor”, but then you’d need to go back & run through from “The Eleventh Hour” to understand why Vincent sees Amy is sad. It depends on how much time you can devote to it. If you can only spare time for one or two series (seasons?), I’d go for Series 4: 10 & Donna. If you have all the time in the world, definitely start at “Rose”, or even “The Unearthly Child” BUT, either way, remember there will be some episodes you won’t much like, for one reason or another. They aren’t all funny, though some are hilarious. They aren’t all exciting, though some will have you chewing your nails on the edge of your seat. They aren’t all scary, though kids hiding behind the couch is a Doctor Who cliche. In short, start anywhere but don’t expect to absolutely love (or hate) every single episode. Sometimes you just have to shrug & say, well, there’s always next week’s.
I thought Martha ending up with Mickey was a fantastic way for them both to realize they don't need the Doctor or Rose and move on. Their skillsets compliment each other and they both are battle-hardened after being thrown into the muck with the Doctor. Fitting sendoff in my opinion. They fit together.
I love everything about the new paradigm daleks. Can't wait for them to appear in a spin-off cartoon. Bluey and Orangey are my faves, and white-ish with his wacky wisecracks. I am sitting on a flaming sofa as I write this.
I had to look up Jimmy Savile because being an American, I had no clue as to who he was. Wow. So Jeffrey Epstein saw this guy and said, "Huh. I bet I could top that." I wonder if they knew each other.
Colin felt their was something off about JS and only did A Fix with Sontarans for Gareth. That's what I remember hearing somewhere. I have a feeling it was an interview with Colin. This was a few years ago so, I can't quite remember.
"Savile entered the set and did his usual self-congratulatory shtick. I didn’t warm to him. His demeanour was neither friendly, nor inclusive. He behaved much as one might expect a child to behave who had been indulged and led to believe that life revolved around them." - Colin Baker. He said later on that he had no idea about the things Saville was up to in private, just didn't like his personality.

Big Finish actually did a release earlier this year called Victory of the Doctor, which not only features the Paradigm Daleks but also showcases the events in-universe that cause them to disappear. Bit of both, the e brake kicks on when he lands, but he can flip a switch to reset them. I think he doesn't do it because most of the time he is trying to get out of the blast radius.

It could be a setup for a possible spin-off series with this two fighting off aliens instead of or by side with Torchwood
Even if anyone was shipping them, a word of advice... "set your course by the stars, not by the lights of every passing ship".
The Doctor can repair the chameleon circuit. But the TARDIS will reject the repair. In fact, when you talk about the Doctor's attempts at repairing it, an obvious in-universe explanation is that it's the TARDIS itself that doesn't want it repaired.
The only thing I want to wipe from my mind, anything after Peter Capaldi.
I am apparently the only one who has no problem with Mickey and Martha, both are fighters, both are great, and in that small moment they seemed to have a lot of chemistry, probably met up due to Captain Jack Harkness, since they both know him, probably met through him.
No, I liked it too.
I liked it a lot as soon as I saw it the first time; I still do.
@@sirimity exactly. He had a lot of growth during his time. And Martha honestly WAS a better choice for him.

@@lexruptor Because like most of what happened during the Chibnal era it was poorly executed, badly written and overall terrible.

Doctor In Distress 100x better than that eating babies song.
The Doctor has been in distress again for a quite a few years now .......what a shambles of a show
The outside kinda changes a bit when the Doctor does.. so I think the chameleon circuit is already fixed on standard blue box. The "someone else's problem circuit" aka "perception filter" does the rest.

4:55 That accent’s not bad, Ellie.
Of course, it’s not many words, but you got it.
10. I first found out about that here
9. The First Doctor was surprised it wasn't working. Why did the Fugitive Doctor have a Police Box?
There is an explanation for that offered in the book 'I, TARDIS', basically a recount of the show from the TARDIS' perspective, as I recall it was something along the line of the TARDIS appearing in a way that would please 13 (which she knew because the TARDIS is atemporal).
9. Chibnall forgot. Even he admitted he never thought through The Timeless Child and had nothing in mind for resolving it. A generous interpretation of that particular storyline was that it was to give some mystery back to The Doctor. A less generous that he just wanted to make his mark on the show and didn't care how he did it really.

saying 'they got promoted' or something is just dumb!: they're still Daleks, still the Doctors mortal enemy & still out there somewhere - should've had them come back in a quick storyline to have them destroyed if they were that reviled!

Research has shown by constantly doing it it can alter parts of the brain over time. It says the buzz from the insults trigger hormones such as oxytocin, around a few certain lobal areas, increasingly making an individual believe those in "their group" more readily and undervaluing the intelligence of those whose views differ. Eventually they could find they are responding more slowly to signals of emotions or experiences from an outsider, shutting down the medial prefrontal cortex, which is involved in social cognition.
