You are right that shiny things should be nickel plated! But I have heated these shiny things from the inside so they don't rust.

@@HOGISIMJAYUN I'm sorry I'm a newbie to these things, what is the problem with sandblasting? I mean if it's really lead paint, is it okay to leave the piece painted with it? It's just not good to sandblast it?

@@JessicaAVoigt I'm not an expert but from what I know, they do lead test before sandblasting to prevent lead inhalation. Paint dust will be all over your place while sandblasting and it's very dangerous to inhale it if its lead positive. Now if you used a paint stripper to remove the paint, the hazard of inhalation is obviously not there.
