printing game cards in real-time

a drawback with inscryption irl is that sometimes cards just "appear". this approach allows you to
create any card on-demand - whatever you want, whenever your want! i've had this idea for a while, and while bored on a flight i decided to throw something together.
the app was quickly thrown together and is just a quick hack / demo for this video. a majority of this was programmed on a flight. this is just a demo, and transparency doesn't work properly, there are no bones, and i have to manually add in every creature in the game. but i like it for what it is :)
i'm using starmicronics printers in this demo.

Damn, that's one of the best solutions I've seen so far, if you ignore the piles of crumpled paper you are gonna end up with after a few games. Jokes aside I do think it's the best way to play Inscription irl, although I would for there to be a scuffed version of the game that can be played with a standard deck of cards.

Yeah that's what I'm saying. I don't think its possible to accurately translate the gameplay to a standard deck of cards but if some liberties were to be made then you would just get a supper accessible fun time!@@null6209

i didn't mention this in the video, but the program keeps track of how many squirrels and main cards you can draw - you can barely make it out under the cards in the app :)

Quite an interesting implementation. I printed my cards on thick paper (160 g\m^2) and folded them in two along with magnetic tape. The result was quite thick and durable cards that were also magnetic to each other. But I'm thinking about buying a laminator to laminate them.

as always, when i record and try to manage the game at the same time, i made some mistakes:
- the wolf should obv be a 3/2 card. giga-brainfart
- the beaver should have attacked at my first round

If you print and carefully and evenly tear off the cards themselves, then in bulk it will be the easiest way to get the cards for a home game with friends (at most you will need money for this printer.... I do not know how to name it correctly and the paper for it .......well, ask the author for a link to these cards)

Mind you, receipt paper is pretty bad for your skin and health at large, particularly for men. It contains BPA, a xenoestrogen known to lower testosterone and be absorbable through skin; significant tactile exposure is almost certain to have detrimental effects on testosterone level, and that is on top of it being a minor skin irritant. Personally I've had light chemical burns on my fingers following prolonged unprotected exposure at work (accountancy). Considering the nature of your recent work I wanted to make sure you to are aware of this matter.
