- My beef stew with beef shank recipe is easy and delicious! With tomato sauce and red wine adding an amazing depth of flavor, this stew is a thick, rich version of the classic comfort food. By cooking the beef shank for multiple hours, it feels apart into small chunks, making sure that every bite has plenty of beefy flavor. While you can serve this with cornbread, rice, or mashed potatoes, the plentiful meat, vegetables, and potatoes make it super filling and satisfying all on its own. If you're looking for a new change of pace from the traditional recipe, be sure to watch this video! 🥩🥔🍅🍷🍲🥕🍠🧅👨🍳

Thank you! 😀👨🍳
I'm definitely doing this one soon
Hi Parnell! OMG I am virtually smelling this amazing lookin stew through my computer screen! Do you know I have never cooked with beef shank before! I know crazy right...and I know I am missing out. But I was never sure how to prepare it. You know its good when you don't need to add a bunch of spices to it. Just the richness of the beef and wine and tomato sauce. Next time I see beef shanks at the store I am picking some up!
Am so excited to watch the next contents my brother you doing really great stay happy an bless
My dad was a head chef until he was 82. His focus was on homestyle cooking. He always made his stove with a red sauce too. If my dad was here today and saw you make this, he would say Bravo!
Thank you very much for the kind words! I'm glad that my recipe reminded you of what your father used to make 👨🍳
Hi, I want to try this recipe. Sadly, I didn't inherit my dad's cooking expertise. So, just to ask; When you sear the beef, what temperature and how long? Also, how long into the cooking cycle do you add the potatoes?
@@Anyonesguess421 Awesome! Good questions:
1. I used medium-high heat to sear the beef (gasmark 4 on a scale of 1-6) for 5 minutes on each side.
2. Add the potatoes after the beef shank has cooked for 2.5 hours, then continue cooking for 30 minutes...so total cook time for the recipe is 3 hours.
**Although I used red wine in this recipe, I think it might actually have been better without. The wine added a depth of flavor, but if you want a stronger tomato flavor, use less wine or leave it out totally.
I hope that helps!
