We were lucky enough to spend some time at the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway recently. While we were there we managed to get some great aerial video of the diesel trains and of course the steam trains.
We managed to get out to the Stanway viaduct and get some awesome video of the steam train puffing along on a summers evening. We also managed to visit greet tunnel and get some great shots of the trains entering and leaving the tunnel.
The tricopter was setup today with a GoPro Hero and 5.8Ghz VTX streaming to FatShark Predator goggles.

Absolutely brilliant; its inclusion in an already magnificent web site is hugely worthwhile. Please can you 'do' some more heritage railways but include flights over their workshops, stations, etc. etc. Aerial footage of some of the more scenic narrow gauge railways in North Wales would be most welcome.

It was quite cool to fly into the steam of the train.
It was my first go at filming trains. It's nice because the line is very accessible with few obstructions around that the tricopter could hit.

Excellent video. Good musical accompaniment (suited the subject well ) Great viewpoints and the end was especially well edited - the home signal returning to danger - a nice finishing touch.
Thanks for your comments. I'm hoping to go back this year and create another video, maybe looking more at the stations, tunnels and bridges. Obviously the trains as well :)

@MrGryo What an amazing area to do FPV in. Did you consider getting closer or were you having issues with video? I would think that steam was hot or at a minimum wet lol...be careful with the copter and getting too close to that :) I can't wait to fly this weekend, it's been raining everyday OR 100F out. We're finally getting back into flying season :)
Unfortunately the video was shot over several breezy days and I dont have a gimbal on the Tricopter.
This Music is the same Music that InterCity82 . uses for Intros in his IC82 Minecraft: Let's Build Thomas! Project Series.
I did want to get closer, the video was solid but I have had some issues with the tricopter recently and was a bit nervous about getting to close incase I hit it ;)
This is amazing, thanks for sharing, was this your first heritage railway shoot? If so please don't let it be your last. Also would be a brilliant way of catching any mainline steam. (uksteam . info) if you ever fancied chasing one.
Very cool, but looks like it still needs some tuning. The video is pretty shaky.
