Frankly, the bridge should accommodate BART or SMART. If people could utilise public transport, they might forego driving. Would that not help to eliminate some of the vehicular traffic?
Keep the bike lane open to bikes all the time. The Bay Bridge also needs a bike lane that goes all the way through. What they have now is useless because it only goes half way. What good is that???
Without that break down lane cars are stuck when there is an accident or break down. It's clearly used by a small number of bike commuters. Can't they take a bus across the bridge. The compromise seems good to me. Yes, I ride a bike too.
There are only 2 lanes right now with no shoulder. When a car breaks down or if there is an accident there's no shoulder to help prevent blocking lanes of traffic = traffic nightmare.
@@kidsafe If a car breaks down in the right lane on the Richmond bridge during heavy traffic it will block that lane and create heavy congestion. IF the shoulder lane is open, then this car could've simply pulled in the shoulder lane after breaking down without blocking any lanes of traffic.
