Theory that the makers of this film waited for this generation to grow up so that we could relate in 2
Well Riley is only 2 years older not our age so..
Not a theory. That's what Pixar does.
They did the same thing with Monsters University and the Toy Story franchise.

@@Nytesplat it's the thought of seeing what we felt like at that age, no matter if people are her age now or not. It's also a thing Pixar does. They wait until people grow up to see the next movie for nostalgia and things like that.
This movie is INCREDIBLE with color theory.
Riley: striped shirt as they're moving with all colors on them to show theyre in harmony, or so it seems. yellow jacket on the first day of school because she's still young enough to be excited. Striped shirt sans blue and yellow at the dinner table because all of her emotions are fighting for control with joy and sadness gone. Black jacket because she's emotionally shutting down.
Emotions: joy has blue hair, backing up the theory joy and sadness go hand in hand. Disgust has a purple ascot, suggesting disgust is mainly motivated by what scares us. Anger is wearing a red tie showing how when were angry, we can't see, hear, or feel anything else. Think, "seeing red". Fear itself is purple, a mix of red and blue, or in this case, anger and sadness. And finally Sadness is wearing a white turtleneck as a combination of all the emotions, like how all light is combined to make white light.

When they're tossing memories, they're not just getting rid of stuff she doesn't need. They're getting rid of stuff that was associated with the island that was just destroyed.
And for the record, if at any point you've ever said, "I'm not a kid anymore.", that's how you know YOUR goofball island has been destroyed.

Inside Out is such a genius movie about how our emotions work. Joy tries to suppress Sadness which is what our joy often tries to do with our sadness, Anger overpowers Fear when Fear tries to talk him out of doing the wrong thing which is what our anger does to our fear and as someone pointed out before, Disgust getting Anger riled up and freeing Joy and Sadness, it was Riley's disgust of what she's doing letting her anger let her joy and sadness back in to allow her to do the right thing and return home. The more I watch this movie, the more I notice these super creative details.

Inside out is such a beautiful movie that looks at growing up and change as well as the feelings that come with it. That combo will always make me cry 😭
When the dad said that riley couldn't have dessert because she did not want to eat her broccoli i was feeling the same way as anger

Omg why did i just realize that when sadness and joy are lost and only fear, disgust and anger are left, even in situations where fear leading would be the best option, he doesnt lead because hes afraid to. HOW DID THIS NEVER CROSS MY MIND
I remember when i saw this in theaters...it was so cool, joy had to go on a mission to make Riley happy again, met her imaginary friend Bing bong on the way and with the help of sadness...she succeeded...❤❤❤

I can really relate to Riley. I had to move away from my best friends when I graduated elementary school and I still think about them❤ I miss them so much, it’s important to not bottle up your emotions. So many childhood memories 💕🥺

I’ve been working on myself all June and the “take her to the moon for me” just made me realize I’m pretty much killing my old self to make room for new. I’ve healed my inner child now I’m trying to heal my inner adult. This movie hits different after you start healing yourself as well 🥺
I almost ran away when I was Riley’s age. My parents had been upset with me because I was disorganised and I kept forgetting to do things (found out I had ADHD as an adult). My plan was to live in the tube slide at the playground. Thankfully my teacher caught wind of my ‘plan’, called my parents so they wouldn’t panic if I was home late, talked me out of it after class and then drove me home. I didn’t appreciate it at the time, but I do now.

All emotions are important, and sadness does have a strong factor because the more you try to suppress sadness you unleash it with other emotions that are unhealthy and joy keeps trying to shut sadness out, but that's not the way to go about it either, I liked the metaphor of this movie.
Zanna, also known as Imaginary Friends, are a type of creature that act as guides and guardian angels to children in need of them. They do so under the guise of being a child's imaginary friend for as long as the child needs them, but once the child no longer needs them, the Zanna leaves and moves on to another child.

I think you just answered a question many have about the second movie. Like, how did she go without feeling embarrassed, anxious etc. until she was 13? I think it’s more that, when Riley has fewer emotions, they tend to be generalists, and when she has more of them, they’re more specialists. Like, Fear basically had Anxiety’s job in the first movie (and arguably doing it better), where he was compiling possible scenarios of what *could* happen, while Anxiety took on that role when Riley hit puberty.

When I watch reactions to Inside Out, I like to see how early in the movie the reactor gets it. You got it right away.
I thought I was the only one bothered about Joy's hair lol. I wish they made it yellow, but then she'd look like Tinker Bell, which then leads me to wonder why they even made her to look like Tinker Bell so much that the hair had to solve that problem. Just change her colors! Lol still a great movie and reaction.
14:37 I actually have a game called _Rhino Hero_ that’s based around this concept, where you have to stack the cards based on the ascribed directions. But what makes it even trickier is that you can only stack straight up, and on top of that, there’s also a figure of a rhino superhero that you have to place on certain cards (hence the title), that could potentially throw the building off balance.
