Hi Heather. Thanks so much for all your videos. I started canning last November, all thanks to you. It's been so exciting and rewarding. So far I've canned jellies, beans, carrots, stews and soups, and of course your BBQ sauces!! Amazing!!!
I'm 55 years old with 3 grown sons, 3 daughters in law, and 11 grandchildren. I hope to encourage them to give canning a try, just as you encourage so many of us. So, thank you for sharing your life with us!!
Oh my goodness!! How could I forget?!!! All those homemade bread recipes!!!! YUMMY!!!

I keep extra bands in clear stacking totes in a storage area. The bands I'm using, I keep on an old school wire clothes hanger. Untwist the top and bend the short side into a simple hook to go around the hanging hook. I can wash and hang them directly on it to dry. I hang the whole thing from the cabinet over the sink. When I'm not canning, it hangs on a hook in the pantry.
You've given all of us shelf envy with that view.
Discuss where to get food to can. Many new canners seem intimidated by those who have super gardens. Crawl, walk then run. If you don't/can't garden, then what? Grocery fresh produce, frozen produce, farmer's market, co-ops. Stocking up in season as a pantry builder. Learn/practice on less expensive basics like carrots and green beans to build confidence. Ingredient vs recipe canning as many new canners may be getting canning books full of yummy recipes that might not be good places to start.
You could put your favorite information sources on full size paper to show as you talk, allowing viewers to screenshot. Less info for you to input via your phone.
Okay, enough of my babbling. 🤐

Thank you so much. This is very helpful. Unfortunately here in the UK our opportunities for canning (bottling here), is not so easy. Storage space is a problem with British homes being generally tiny (unless you are quite wealthy), and bottling is now considered a hobby rather than an everyday thing, so very expensive for the jars and lids. Even getting them online is expensive. So as usual, we make do and come up with other ideas. Love your channel.

I started canning a few years ago and I am so thankful I did. I have 400 plus jars of ground beef, roast, pork, bacon, sausage, chicken, potatoesand beans. Buy on sale. Saves you so much money. It is like fast food to get it on the table. One of my sisters has offered to pay me to can foods for her. She works 70 hours a week and needs to get food on the table fast.
Thanks for all the information you have provided.

Canning was survival during most of my life. A large garden, fruit trees, a root cellar were how we ate in the winter and all year. We had milk cows for our dairy products, and
chickens and other meat animals and a yearly deer. Very few people know those skills now. I’m 75 so those days are long gone but my daughters and son still preserve food.
I realize your video wasn’t a new one but I wanted to share my life and say you are doing a much needed service .

Lehman's sells in bulk, but the go as fast as they get stocked. Consider shipping costs. Often, that may make bulk online more than local small boxes. If you just want to have a bunch and be done, consider Walmart online and deliver to your local store. A local hardware or country supply might be willing to bulk order for you.
