Takes me back to my schoodays when railways were just like this. They didnt have long to go but I am so pleased I did experience many. This set up is perfect. Many congratulations
Thank you Peter & Julia ,another first class production with beautiful music .Seeing the cattle wagons was a real treat for me as I don’t remember them in BR use & not often modelled .
Thank you Steven. It was interesting to research the subject - 50 wagons at Ashburton on market days etc. Railway Modeller was kind enough to publish my article on getting the little beasts into the wagons. Hope you enjoy the next video: Sunday Special Apologies in advance for the erratic running of the Midland 2P! Best wishes, Peter
Nice scenario and wonderful filming of this 'country event'. Enjoyed this peaceful model railroading. Thanks for sharing ! Greetings from France. Filip
Thank you Garry; I am pleased you like the atmosphere of Lowleigh. I don't know whether you have seen the earlier films but the story began with 'A Day at Lowleigh Station': ua-cam.com/video/z2PhJliCNqQ/v-deo.html
very atmospheric well done! love these short clips, keep them coming. i'm building a layout based on Sandsend- very little traffic but it has that atmosphere with the high up station and viaduct. once again lovely layout and filmed/narrated superbly.
Thanks for your kind words Desmond. Good luck with Sandsend - I believe the old station there is now available for self-catering holidays - perfect - a holiday and prototype research!
Thank you for your kind comments. Please don't forget the 'railway children'. Street children need our help more than ever in these troubled times: www.railwaychildren.org
Nice videos Peter, I enjoy the narrative! Would it be possible to request a video of the full layout "birds eye view" if possible? Please keep the videos coming, I'll be subscribing too 👍
Thanks for your kind words. There is a slide of more or less the whole layout (slide 23 at 2min59sec) on the first video - 'A Day at Lowleigh Station'. It's difficult to film the whole thing without going above the backscene and spoiling the illusion with distracting and unwanted glimpses of our very untidy loft! Look out for a Midland 2P venturing down the branch in the 5th video. Best wishes, Peter
@@peterharrison6230 thanks for the reply Peter, I did indeed see that video already, and I agree about the illusion factor, very important to maintain the "scene in time" effect, a living photograph if you like! Cheers sir
Beautifully made video and sound track of an excellent model! Most enjoyable. The lighting of the model for filming is really good - what lighting do you use?
Thanks for your kind and encouraging comments Ambrose. The lighting is from Saxby Lighting Ltd. It's a rail with electric connections which you fixto a ceiling or wall and individual spotlights are clipped into the rail. Similar to shop window displays. Best wishes, Peter
wonderful modelling, beautifully shot. If I may ask, what are the dimensions of the layout? You have created so much intrest in what looks like a modest sized layout.
Thank you for your kind words - the layout is 10'x8', 3 scenic sections and a fiddle yard at the back. The story began at: ua-cam.com/video/z2PhJliCNqQ/v-deo.html Best wishes, Peter
Lovely work, Peter. I love the commentary too! Have just subscribed too! I reside in South Australia and I have a beautiful layout modelled upon the Devizes branch in Wiltshire. I have a few videos of my GWR/WR layout if you wish to take a look at some point. I’m currently working on a Post Train video for the layout at the moment. What make is your signals? And I also see hook and link couplings. Is it very hard to convert rolling stock with this coupling arrangement for a more authentic approach in OO? Thanks and keep well. Cheers Caleb
Thank you Caleb. The signals are Ratio kits with loco handrail knobs added down the post to more accurately direct the operating wire. Underneath the baseboard the signals are linked to Peco point motors (via a paper clip (!). To keep the noise and speed down the Peco motors are operating on 5 volts..I've just got myself some relays and a control board from 'Megapoints' (excellent firm) - much better - almost silent, speed can be controlled and you can add 'bounce'. Sprat and winkle couplings are not too difficult to fit but require quite a bit of plastic to be removed from the wagon chassis. Then they need to be carefully adjusted. I've only done about half a dozen wagons. There's an article in last month's Railway Modeller about 'crafty coupling at Lowleigh'. Have you a link to your videos? All the best, Peter
Peter Harrison thanks for your fabulous insight, Peter. I do like the added details of signalling, makes the layout look even more real and used. Thanks for the info on the couplings and electronics aspects as well. Might have to have a look at your article as well. My playlist of videos my layout are available here: ua-cam.com/play/PLkIwaxqFw4KiFHagTyPAairLMJf4ABh58.html Stay healthy. Cheers Caleb
Thanks Ken - you are of course right about the lack of little people - on balance I prefer just to have seated characters, and loco crew together with 'parked' motor vehicles. There was a 'crowd' on the platform waiting for the first diesel service in 'Diesel Debut' and there is a sprinkling of passengers in the coaches!

Another nice production. I particularly like what we would, an overlength working. Not something I think I have seen on other single line productions.
Thanks Mike - the signalman at Hampton Loade on the Severn Valley explained the protocol to me. Thanks for noticing! Peter
@@peterharrison6230 Getting those details right make the difference. So your contact has done you a big favour by explaining the procedure.

Is this real or models ?
