I'm sure all of your essays for every school were amazing, but it would be interesting to get a perspective on essays that werent accepted and for you to reflect on what u'd do differently for this school. Thanks the video is great! I just wanted to mention that we don't need to include the names of the authors in the list of books, I talked to a member of the Columbia admissions , and she said- "students often waste space by adding the authors of the books, we usually know it, we read thousands of applications and are trained professionals".

I’m stressing about grades honestly. My grades from 9th and 10th grade are horrible. But there’s a drastic improvement from 11th grade.
The improvement looks good. you’re showing them an upward progression, plus if you maintain it that’s even better!

Hanha Hanha The thing is COVID-19 has made many schools rethink their decisions on sat and act and now many schools are considering not to required sat or act so unless you are trying to go to an Ivy League college or something like that I would wait until COVID is over
if you dont wanna wait for the end of covid, i recommend starting to study the summer of your sophomore year and taking/finishing the sat by august before your junior year. it will save you sooooooo much time

heyy, great video, thanks for sharing your essays! In the ones where you have to list sites, books, movies (basically every one of them lol), you just write one after the another or you skip a line for every movie, book, etc.?

I started my main common app essay in August and finished it by October, then I started on my RD supplementals in October. I started my EA supplementals in September.

Any time is a good time! I'm a senior now and I have seen that if you do really well on the psats you can get a bunch of merit aid for college. I would at least start practicing and getting to know what the test looks like asap! Good Luck

I did and it helped me decide where I wanted to go but I personally don't think it helped my admissions chances. I was rejected from schools I visited and accepted to schools I didn't visit

i also do a lot of ecs that have no relation to my major. should i still put them?

I’m no college admissions advisor and I’m just a fellow senior applying rn, but I’ve seen tons of things about making sure that you have diverse interests and things that show that you’re a well rounded student. However, make sure that you get your most important ones first and then if you still have space def add the ones that might not be so related. Also make sure that you were really involved in the activity and it wasn’t just a throw away. Like I said I’m not an expert so check Reddit and college blogs bc those are really helpful!!

I have one quick questions for like where you have to list movies, shows, albums etc. Can I like organize it a bit, for instance before I list my movies and shows can I put Movies: ....... and so forth; or would it be best to just list everything without a heading per say?
i didn't put labels but i think either would be fine. personal preference really!

What if someone had good extra curricular activities but they don’t fit into one category ? Would that be a problem?
Thats fine! Common app has 10 different spaces for activities and tons of categories. If one activity doesn't fit in a category, just choose other and use your space to explain it
Does the essay you write have to be about what you are interested in, major, or could it be about anything ?
Anything! The best ones usually take a personal anecdote and use it to tell something about your interests or an important personality trait.
