Amused To Death is Roger Waters' masterpiece....as quintisencial as Dark Side Of The Moon, and as lyrically biting as Animals, Amused To Death is my favourite album ever, it got me through some tough times and kept me going when i thought i had nothing else to give; this album pulled me back from the brink of suicide....i'm probably living now soley because of this album. I really can't praise it enough, just listen to it, let it grow on you, seep into your veins and enjoy.
My favorite album as well. It’s perfect. Eye opening lyrics, amazing bass, guitar, drumming and synthesizer work, ambient sounds both atmospheric and nature and awesome sound effects
@@ryanmartin3248 I agree with you Ryan, Amused To Death is a very highly produced album. Lyrically it's powerful, thought provoking, contemporary and stands the test of time. Musically it's ambience is a mainstay throughout the album creating a somewhat sombre atmoshere with moments of extremely powerful and beautiful music; it captures your heart and mind and whisks you off on a self exploration of morality, empathy and purpose. Everyone has their own interpretation of course, though the album's themes have mass appeal in an unusual melancholic way. Brilliant album 👍
I'm not very much into Roger's solo career except for this album. Pros and Cons... meh... Radio Kaos... good but not excellent. Is this the life... meh again. But ATD...it's perfect. Probably my fav album ever. I bought it 3 times since it came out in 1992 by the fact that I somehow lost the first CD and borrowed to someone else the second who didn't return it to me. It's still absolutely actual almost 30 years after its release. I think that a great part of the quality comes from Pat Leonard.

Roger nailed it. What a prescient album! He predicted politics as entertainment and now we have a reality TV President. This album is criminally underappreciated, as good musically, lyrically, and conceptually as anything released under the Pink Floyd brand name.
One of the greatest joys of watching a Roger Waters clip on YT is that afterwards one can browse the comments and read some of the most interesting, poetic, inciteful and grateful expressions written on any page. That's a testament to the man and his music too. Fantastic stuff.
The man is, and was, a visionary poet. Wish Mr Gilmour had stuck with him. With Rog's intellectual lyricism and David's immense musical capabilities they could still be blowing away both sides of the Pink Floyd/Roger Waters argument........

one of my very favorite albums. The sound quality was amazing, in addition to the fantastic music & lyrics. I listened to this so much on my little sony discman back in the early 90s. Every few years since I suddenly remember it and listen again for weeks.

The interviewer got that lyric all wrong. He was not crying to ignore history, what he was saying is that the religious monkey doesn't give a shit about history. It is a criticism to creacionist views and the contradictions of religion, at least those who think "I don't have common ancestry to apes/monkeys". All the monkey has to do in order to wash his sins is to clean his hands in holy writing, and then he can turn his back to the garden (of eden) and go to the nearest town, filled with sins, polution, corruption... The way Roger writes is perfect, the acid critics on religions is superb done in this lyrics.

it's just the idea that a guy who makes music and music videos saying they're bad seems counter-intuitive. I agree completely, though. Some music videos really enhance the song, but for the most part I feel it's better to let the listener conceptualize their own imagery, to interpret the song as it pertains to their life/mood. And specifically to Roger's point, when they're all back to back it's just fluff. Just another product.

Why didn't this get so big compared to other albums from waters and pink floyd?
@Eirik Rødberg Bad taste on the part of the vast majority ... as usually happens, because this work, like all´s Roger´s, is a true piece of art.
Also there wasn't a promotion tour.
I think Waters must have been tired after two solo albums that hadn't been commercially successful.
Thrasher IS a great song.
Who is the questioner? Jim Ladd or not?
Yes, Jim Ladd from KLOS and 'Radio KAOS' fame.
Frank Wolbert Not 'yes, Jim Ladd' surely?
"Ah-har Jim Ladd!" sounds much better
❤
Why was it filmed like this? So frustrating trying to see him behind that stupid fencing. He's pretty hot here...I just want to be able to see him clearly for the whole interview! 😠
It would be nice if this video were listed with some information about what we are watching: Who is the interviewer? Where and when was this interview done? Where was it published?
I believe it's Jim Ladd, an LA dj who toured with Roger, playing the dj on Radio KAOS.
Sounds like Jim Ladd indeed
GOD
Rust never sleeps!
a clean fight far from it... untill roger and dave are back together...im fond of both ,its a pitty when the best fall to politics
Who is the interviewer?
Jim Ladd
I rote A Song for WATERS IF He WANt's it.
The dark side of the moon part 2...
soz had to say it born 74
It's funny to see Roger with long hair but all grey. If he dyed or cut his hair, he would be 50x better in the 80's to the 90's.
Look at Radio Kaos videos and The Wall Live In Berlin ;)
love that hair...
I find it funny that this video has a copyright claim on it from himself 😂
what exactly is he saying about music videos, where he makes the other people laugh? "generaly, i think there are very bad.... ???"
is it that he just stops his sentence in the middle?
That's it, Roger hates music videos(when he is doing them) in all.
it's just the idea that a guy who makes music and music videos saying they're bad seems counter-intuitive. I agree completely, though. Some music videos really enhance the song, but for the most part I feel it's better to let the listener conceptualize their own imagery, to interpret the song as it pertains to their life/mood. And specifically to Roger's point, when they're all back to back it's just fluff. Just another product.
I feel like he wanted to say he hates MTV. Not like he has anything to worry about now!

This is his ‘Conan the Barbarian’ years on the haircut side…
