Madness Selection (Our House + Baggy Trousers). Ashtyn&Jon REACTION

- The purpose of me requesting they react to songs like these is just to expose them to music they may or may not have heard before, to expand their horizons and to sate my curiosity over whether they will like them or not. As such I don't really care about likes/dislikes on these video postings or even the popularity of my channel or theirs for that matter.
Also nothing is monetized on my channel so I make no money from posting them, they do these for me and I just post them here in case other people are curious what they think of these songs too after they send me them and I have watched them myself. As mentioned this is not their channel, if you wish to visit their channel it can be found listed below.

Madness ... a proper British band. Great songs.
Init aha
People don't give them enough credit, there generally seen as a joke band or just a gimmick. They had some beautiful songs and some really important ones too most notably Embarrassment
Make me laff
Bed and Breakfast man was the 1st Madness song I heard in 1979 I was 10 years old and iv been a big fan still to this day. Love all SKA bands. The specials- Badmanners - The English Beat- The bodysnatchers - The selector.
Forcing Americans to watch good 40 year old music from the UK isnt fair...... play them some bland Journey or Taylor Swift song, and dont make them have to think...
Madness is royalty in England especially from Camden town.
Royalty indeed.
Baggy Trousers is a very british song. I was a schoolboy when the song came out, and it was very relatable in every lyric. I love it.
You guys can't hear a song without waving that flag - let it go - empire is gone boys - 'the torch has been passed to a new generation of [whoops-a-daisy] Americans'
@@cahillgreg hes not gonna say its a russian song is he ye melt
@@cahillgregwhat u wafflin about mate
Ashton literally sat motionless through the whole baggy trousers . Isn’t a reaction
Her non-reaction reaction.......dull.
I have to bang my head seriously I just cant
New to the channel? 😂
@@auto2112 I am actually
@@joeblockley9695 Get used to it then. I come back to them every few months to aee if things have improved but they never do. A lot of potential here but she especially brings the channel down!
People of today's generation don't realise how massive Madness we're
Thing is they weren't originally. Only 1 number one single and no No.1 albums. Its only after they split in 1986 did people realise how much we missed them.
Fun fact they was a west end play made in the uk using all of madness music. They are a proper english band. 😀

Who never like Madness in the UK in the 80's? You'l be hard pressed to find someone
During 60,70,80' Brits had the best bands ! Rock,Punk,Metal,Ska,New wave and so on
You probably need to have been at school in the early 80's to appreciate and understand this song and video in England that is.
As soon as I realised they were listening to this via one headphone each, I knew they weren't getting the full audio experience and stopped watching!
One of the best ska bands ever
I don't think they have ever heard any Ska before.
This song was played by madness on the roof of Buckingham Palace, in 2012 for our queen's golden jubilee, note that Buckingham Palace appears in the video.
Of all the reaction channels out there, this is by far the worst. Nothing personal, you're probably really nice people. You don't even have to like the songs. But, you have no emotion, shallow comments, no feeling, no passion for music as far as I can tell. You're in over your heads.
Madness...one of the great british Ska bands from the 80's.... I love the video and song for "House of fun"
madness really are a British treasure love em.
You guys can't hear a song without waving that flag - let it go - empire is gone boys - 'the torch has been passed to a new generation of [whoops-a-daisy] Americans'
@@cahillgreg At least we have something to be proud of. UK music has always been a higher level to bland American trash.
Hello Enigma. Just watched your video on Madness which was good :) Just wanted to add my to pence if I may.
Our house was about very poor people, fathers who went to work on low pay mothers who struggled. Same old story all over the world.
Baggy trousers, we English do seem to like to fight each other, its historic I guess. At the end of a School term the local schools would meet and fight each other, it was just a rule. They would fight in school obviously, but the fight against an opposing school was a necessity. This is what Baggy trousers was about, may not translate well to you Americans as you all had a different upbringing obviously.
All depends, my friend.
I went to Secondary School at The Oval near Brixton from 1965-71 and hardly ever remember any fights though it was a Grammar School.
When we used to play after school in the local park though you often had The Secondary Modern Boys want to play us, mainly to kick us. :)
Lovely lads. One day they came to our school and our Latin Teacher stepped in. I would not mind but in our school, it was 75% Working Class kids...
Listening to this song with only one earphone in, is a crime!! 👎
If u like our house listen to house of fun.
Night boat to cairo is a great song too. Proper british tunes
You guys can't hear a song without waving that flag - let it go - empire is gone boys - 'the torch has been passed to a new generation of [whoops-a-daisy] Americans'
Another 80s classic which if you lived in the uk at that time would have heard it played on the radio 24/7 ...it has a feel good factor about it and very impressed to see Americans appreciating it too. What us 80s fans need is a time machine to go back to when music seemed better than today even if that makes me sound like my parents/grandparents who would say the same thing about the music they listened to in the 40s-70s.
This reminds me of my older brother, he was a Mod and had his scooter n shit with loads of mirrors on it, they the Mods were always battling with the punk rockers. How times have changed.
What was the reason for it? Clean cut mod vs scruffy punk?
@@liamfitzgerald7217 I was quit young at the time but best i can figure out is it was all about the music. Also i think different groups of people who don't like each other will always find a reason to fight, there were loads of fights. Apparantly the 2 groups would meet up in Brighton for a massive battle. A bit like what the football firms hooligans do these days.
@@liamfitzgerald7217 Mods fought 'rockers' - not punk rockers - Mods fighting on the beach in Brighton occurred in the 60s - Punks arrived mid 1970s
@@cahillgreg I'm aware of the beach fight in Brighton. I've seen Quadrophenia.
saw these guys live in 2019,absolutely fantastic, lifelong school pals who just love playing great music.even better live than in the videos
If I could recommned a few songs to try from madness: Cardiac Arrest, Night Boat to Cairo and One Step Beyond, especially the last two - proper oldschool two tone Ska
You didn't expect the video to be goofy? I guess you haven't seen any Madness videos... ;)
They still play live and they are awesome.
You are punching above your weight sonny boy. Respect 👊
Madness aka The Nutty Boys🤪 fantastic band, Try House Of Fun or One Step Beyond 👍🏻
Rude boy's in the house, SKA rules.
To be honest,I didnt like the recent songs presented here that much, but this(Our House ) was in my view, worth watching and checking out..its an old classic, not fantastic, but catchy in its own way and thereby, pleasant to spend time watching. Nice to see the cooperation between Ashtyn/jon and Enigma going about again..
That's how the cookie crumbles sometimes unfortunately because the whole point of me making these requests is to expose them to lots of different music across many genres and time periods so naturally people who have a preference of their own won't be as interested in all the ones I select. There are one or two genres of music that both myself and they hate so I won't pick those types as I don't care to see their reactions to those ones and they don't want to listen those ones either...outside of that I try to keep the selection quite broad and spanning many decades and types of music but due to that not every song or artist is going to be of interest to everyone.
I don’t think Americans realise that baggy trousers is literally every working class kids life
This is a pure English 🏴 🇬🇧 classic 👌
hallo guys owe are you thank you thank you for the react of you this song it is a great song and iconic British band the madness olso this band have a great song is mast bi love
Glad you reacted to them... Epic they were
Madness is one of the greatest and legendary bands ever to come out of my country. Madness songs are just magical and baggy trousers is my personal favourite as I left school in 1980 and it reminds me of School. Americans don't have any proper music so sad. Nevermind us Brits do. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🎶💿🎵📻🎤
The Sun and the Rain or my name is michael caine, great songs totally underrated by the best, underrated by some, " nutty boys" band ever
This is from the 80's, my mid childhood and two tone ska era. With bands like The Beat and Selector, and a song you might like from a band called Bad Manners. Return of the Ugly. And I'm glad you two don't really get baggy trousers, because you aren't meant to.
Guys, with the best will in the world, you have to be a brit to get this. Bless you for trying.
You guys can't hear a song without waving that flag - let it go - empire is gone boys - 'the torch has been passed to a new generation of [whoops-a-daisy] Americans'
@@cahillgreg Americans have managed to screw the world up, pass the baton back to the britts, we know how to run the world.
With Baggy Trousers they are probably saying the lyrics so fast you don't have time to grasp what they are actually saying.
So... "Duck duck Go" the Lyrics and watch it again.
It'll all make sense !!
lol
Oh..btw.. If you didn't "get" Baggy trousers how on earth would you "get" Queens "I want to break Free" ?

It's Brit Humour at it's finest !!
one step beyond Listen!!
Madness my girl or embarrassment or the selector missing words
I believe they sang our house they sang this fron the roof of the palace for the queens golden jubilee
We all came here for the "intellectual discussion," didn't we, boys?
Madness running a mock in the BBC center when they did top of the pops
The Ska one of the music genre that majority doesn't know about!
This is the only Madness song known in the US.
How can two songs (plural) be the only song (singular)
@cahillgreg Explains a lot about American culture.....now off to McDonalds with you and try not to shoot anyone on the way.
One earphone each...?
That’s Ska. One step Beyond or Night Boat to Cairo!
They are all around 60 now.
And still writing better music than Taylor Swift
The young ones on mtv they were in show the name of label two tone with lots good group
Madness, the only band to do a song about shopping for protection on your first date (House of fun ). Although The Specials ended Much too young with Start wearing a cap. 😂🇬🇧🏴🤠
Never thought this would cross over to the USA 🇺🇸. The marketing men should’ve tried harder 😂
Brilliant....
I think you had to be there. Great puppies!
..that was where we used to sleep...

Hay, Madness "One Step Beyond".
Thanks Enigma

It in a commercial also
In my view Ashtyn and Jon are one of the more interesting youtube reactors out there, and since they dont do music reactions anymore on their own channel this is the only place where its possible to see them do that. Hopefully it can give both Enigma and Ashtyn/Jon more recognition on their respective channels, even though it was noted above here that it wasnt a priority.
There is one other channel I know of which hosts mainstream music reactions from Ashtyn and Jon, the channel is called "VadersPetPig" but he only has four song reactions on there from Ashtyn and Jon. Three of those are Florence + The Machine songs and one is a Lorde song. If there are any other channels with same type of content featuring Ashtyn and Jon reacting to mainstream music I haven't come across it personally.
youngsters of today could never understand!
A great London band Madness with Suggs as Lead singer. Baggy Trousers is my favourite Madness song as it reminds me of the year that I left Secondary School. Plus Suggs is a fellow Chelsea FC fan. ⚽️⚽️⚽️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Aarhus and Denmark here ... just for a short visit .... ;)
I love you guys becose you are a perished a good and quality music yue are yang people and listening old music God work guys God work I love yue
Grey day I think it’s madness darkest song
Not sure if Madness still hold the record for most consecutive hit singles in the UK?
Robert O'Brien. Wouldn’t surprise me
Don't you get the humour in the videos ?
What is generally lost on people is that cost of the boat hire alone for Duran duran’s Rio would’ve funded 10 Madness videos. They always produced great videos on a very tight budget.
God bless England
Love your guys "real" reactions i.e you did not pretend to like the second song.
Please more reactions to the timeless 1980/90s music
The nutty boys
Baggy trousers is fantastic mannnnn
Quality
These are from uk
Surprised that Jason bourne sing in Madness
Still going now great band try night boat to cairo by madness
Dippy? Check your arm tatt for inspiration or expectantly, intelligence!

Clown music? Ok 👌🏻
This is ska, very very rare nowadays

"Not as good as their last one" ???? What friggin planet are you on?

Well , it’s ska it’s has to be fast
so..matt damon can also sing..😀
Not as good as the last one???? What planet are you on? This is miles better. You obviously dont like Ska music.
U don't get it!!
Why don’t you have your cat before doing a listen to music
You're not meant to get, you're Yanks. You have to be British to understand Madness.

@@cahillgreg You have taken what I said completely out of context. Perhaps I ought to have simplified it for you. Madness are culturally very British. Got nothing to do with flag waving or empire you muppet.
