If anyone had a reason to hate this pilot who was an enemy that CO did. Despite all of this, the CO who considered that pilot an enemy in life, deemed him a man and brother in death. Someone's son who would have wanted him to be treated with respect. They even sewed together the Japanese flag for the ceremony. “A fellow warrior who had displayed courage and devotion, and who had paid the ultimate sacrifice with his life, fighting for his country." Capt Callaghan.
No!! It's very realistic to hit a plane and still be okay. I'm a pilot and one time I plowed my Boeing 737 into another 737 and we just bounced off each other like pinballs with no damage. Technology is amazing!!
SBD's were absolutely capable of shooting down Zeros, and they did just that in the pacific. They weren't designed to, and it wasn't extremely common, but they did. The Zero is an overhyped plane. The Zero excelled at shooting down the P-40 and the F4F. By 1943, the US had planes that were scoring 30 to 1 kills against the Zero.

Over Tarawa, there was a claimed 30 Zeros lost for 1 F6F, and the average loss rate of Zero's to F6F's was 19:1. As for the planes of the US overall, the F6F, P-51, and B-17 and B-29 were all game-changers, and outmatched many of the competing nations planes. The B29 was also the single best bomber of the entire war, bar-none, with the B-17 not far behind it. Comparing the P51 to the Zero, the P51 was faster, had better dive capabilities, had higher survivability, and had better performance at high altitudes. Comparing the Zero to the F6F, the F6F was faster, was more durable, and had a slightly better climb rate at higher altitudes than the Zero. The P38 compared to the Zero, the P38 was faster, MUCH heavier armor, with systems redundancy allowing higher survivability, performed significantly better at higher altitudes, and was versatile as a fighter and a bomber. The P38 was also an older plane by comparison to the F6F and P51, and yet the P38 had more confirmed downs of Zeros than any other USAAF fighter. I could do this all day honestly. There's a reason that the US absolutely dominated the Pacific theater from late 1942-1943 and onward, and absolutely destroyed Germany's manufacturing capabilities, and that's because of the superior planes. Even if you compare US planes to German ones, the P-51 outclassed German fighters in speed, range, firepower, and was probably one of, if not THE premiere fighter plane of World War 2. The Zero conversely was really only truly effective against the F4F, F2A, and the P40. Do some research.

No matter how many films and video games I see of the battle of Midway, I still cannot believe they used to literally dive at ships while getting directly shot at, to release the bomb they wanted to hit them with. So insane. Crazy to think this massive fight happened, in the middle of the pacific.
Apart from the infinite symbol, the fact that an SBD Dauntless is acting as an agile fighter instead of the slow dive bomber it historically was, kills it for me
The Dauntless allegedly had a history of at least being able to defend itself in a fight against one or two fighters, (without bombs), but I do agree to this degree it's questionable. At least it wasn't a vindicator.
I agree, but to be fair, going in to anything with Call of Duty in the title and expecting realism, historical accuracy, or real immersion is always a lost cause. They're the Michael Bay movies of video games: big, loud, flashy and ultimately pointless.
Beautiful game, but because of the bungled nature of the attack, Midway was largely a slaughter for our boys, going in with no fighter cover, without a coordinated attack. The final attack that sunk the carriers was seemingly perfectly coordinated by accident since the attacking squads were unaware of each other. But I guess you've got to make the game playable rather than realistic. Still, it would be interesting to have players play the suicidal initial waves that were annihilated without causing any damage that cleared the skies of fighter cover that permitted the final wave to succeed.
I wish we’d get a proper WW2 game again from COD and BF but taken more seriously. And cover more theatres. Most popular ones plus more that don’t really get much attention. Online and story. We did have BFV, gameplay in multiplayer was awesome but it’s not fully authentic in ways. Story was so, so. COD WW2 I enjoyed the campaign but it loses itself at times to be more Hollywood. Online I didn’t enjoy. I haven’t played Vanguard but some missions look pretty awesome. I suppose if I have to choose I’d go with a campaign like WW2 mixed with some Vanguard missions had but even more grounded. Less over the top. And multiplayer like BF1943 on PS3. With some BFV maps, guns and vehicles.

Having played WW2 games since the Medal of Honor series, I can definitely say I'm really sick and tired of WW2 shooters at this point, regardless of the graphics.
The graphics are quite impressive, but I couldn't help but notice all of the USN cruisers were missing their main armament... Kind off odd thing to not include, when all other aspects seems to have been given a lot of time and effort
@@Ceneviva Best fighter game i've ever played was "Over G fighters" for Xbox 360, it had the perfect flight controls for a controller and game play was as close as you are gunna get to a sim on a console. Game play was epic but they really budgeted from the story, i've never been able to play another flight game on a controller since, nothing can measure up.

It starts out so great below deck and climbing into the cockpit...then the bogus cat launch, shooting down 20 planes in one mission...yeah, visuals like this could have made for a great sim but it's just another unrealistic game for those who don't know any better

@@SpruceMoose-iv8un I never played it(I play on PC) but I watched some videos. It seems to be a very good simulator. You have a good taste. I like IL 2 Sturmovik (perhaps I'd try DCS if I had a good rig). I mostly play FPS games and my favorite is Red Orchestra 2.
It starts out so great below deck and climbing into the cockpit...then the bogus cat launch, shooting down 20 planes in one mission...yeah, visuals like this could have made for a great sim but it's just another unrealistic game for those who don't know any better

actually in those days bombers were not very accurate like if you are good enough you could hit the target once out of 4 bombs .
