Hard to believe there was once a time in this soap when Billy was violent and Phil was calm 😁
Phil was never calm. He was just not as hot headed as Grant. They switched roles during Grant's guest stints, it's even been pointed out on screen before.

I think the show just decided to take the character on a different direction and hoped viewers would forget about it.
Billy mentioned Jamie in 2017 and admitted he was wrong about the way he treated him.

Jamie Mitchell played by Jack Ryder, a British actor on EastEnders (1998-2002). Since his dad (Charlie Mitchell) died, his dad’s brother (Billy Mitchell) started abusing him. Jamie didn’t like it when his uncle started treating him very badly and he hated it.
Billy turned good when he got older.

@@nickohira1397 and don't forget phil was also on drugs in 2010 when ben got sent to prison and Peggy gave Louise back to Lisa he started drinking again and started doing drugs with rainie he also set the vic on fire and this caused Peggy to leave. Shirley and Jay helped phil get cleaned up after that and ready for when ben comes out of prison and he helped train jay up in this time welcoming him into the mitchell family

Billy Mitchell was that nice back then,. He mellows, when he meets Little Mo and falls her. He even stands up to Trevor and becomes a much nicer person.

Billy turned out good in the end, he always had a temper deep down that he could do some people harm, he didn't show it. The way he punched Alfie moon, Kates dad, the punter in the Vic, the police man in the club, the way he was Grabbing the man in the suit and tie by the fairground, even accidently headbutting minty, having a scuffle with minty, punching jase, the way he threw robbie but that was cowardly, shame he didn't punch Trevor or Steve Owen if he could do all that to the others, mind you he did stick up to him in the Vic and did sort of push eachother, Billy doing this to Jamie was not kool

Why do people compare the two events. I'm not saying Phil was right but he actually had a reason to beat up Jamie and he only did so twice. Billy on the other hand, used to verbally and physically abuse Jamie for years at every opportunity.

They should have mentioned jamie more often he is hardly mentioned or remembered at all tbh they should have mentioned him when phil and ben did the family tree in 2006
He was mentioned in 2008 when Billy gets angry with Jay
Im here from todays episode he got a mention when billys dad asked him to be put in touch with jamie and billy told him he had been dead for over 20 years (30th april 2024)

All praising him now in EastEnders ...as a great dad and lovely man ..but I remember how he beat him up ..vile..Jamie come back and put Billy in is place just like Billy is treating his dad now for his mistakes .
