Instead of switching the breaker off for the transfer case so that the charger turns off, can you instead turn off the main Breaker to all circuits in the house at the control panel? The reason why I’m saying this is because I’m not sure what the breaker is for the transfer case.
Yeah that will work too. The breaker for the transfer switch will be the largest set of breakers in your panel. Mine is 70 amps. You'll know you got the right one if you switch it off and the generator starts up :)
Hi, I installed an air filter and spark plugs and then a new battery having group size 26 with 525 cold cranking amps and 650 cranking amps at 32 Fahrenheit. However, it cranks but does not start or will start and then immediately die. I am guessing that the spark plugs may be an issue (either in the installation or the product), but not sure. The five red LEDs keep flashing too even after I try to set the exercise time. I think it is because it will crank but not start or start and die. By the way, I got the battery from Walmart. It was the only store that had a the right polarity in which the positive side is closest to the panel that is removed. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thank you. @@striker1211
An update. During the replacement of all of the parts, I could not remove the fuse. Now, I found out why, You have to push down and turn counterclockwise. Also, I notice that the fuse is a glass tube that separates easily from the push button. Is this the case or did I break it.
I removed the regulator from my unit. It has dirt inside it because they didn't cap the input propane line when it was left sitting over the years. Can you clean out the inside of the regulator with soap and water
I did it because it was so tight in there and the positive is easier to get to, but you're right that it's best practice to unhook negative first and connect it last. The generator is a standard chassis ground setup.
Are you for real? Everybody knows negative comes off first. No wonder you shorted when you hit the positive terminal, you're lucky it didn't explode. Man, that is bad advice. Be forwarnred anyone watching, this is absolutely wrong and dangerous. You should edit immediately
Mine had a faulty ignition coil, it had been acting up for months. A local shop replaced both for $500 installed. So glad I DIY'd the battery so I could save on the laborious coil installation.
@@striker1211 Is it running properly now? The low level switch could be bad (or stuck) signaling the shutdown. What did you find the problem to be for the over crank?
Lol I'm doing same thing except I've changed it trying reset all red blinking lights n it's bad storm possible hurricane here in Florida I got it figured it out lol
Again! You connected the ground first, I can't believe this. That's totally wrong, causing a dangerous Arc with the positive terminal when it's grounded. If the negative cable is not connected first, there's no possiblity of any arc. Yes, haha, you showed us how to change the battery in the most dangerous manner possible. Thanks for nothing, you need to apologize, if someone got hurt, after taking this advice, I shudder to think how responsible you will be. I suggest you remove this immediately and not subject yourself to a lawsuit! I'm not an expert by any means, but this is the most basic instruction when handling batteries. Maybe you caused yourself your problems by shorting out the system.

I replaced the spark plugs, and now the generator starts faster and keeps going. So it now works.
Did you figure out the issue at the end of the video. I cannot find any follow to that. Thanks.
It was a bad ignition coil, I had both replaced at the same time by a tech and it's been running perfectly since (knock on wood). Thanks for watching.

I believe it's a rubber diaphragm in there, but even I wouldn't mess with trying to fix a regulator and I'm pretty gutsy
@@striker1211 Hi...might want to address some of the other comments on this video. Seems there might be issues of interest to you.
Positive first and negative second? Why is it backwards from a car battery?

@@striker1211 thanks for the reply. I wasn't trying to be a smartass, I just work on cars, not generators and houses.

Striker, you're right, it's the same as cars. Be careful if you're following this bad advice
it took a longer time to start, as they don't charge the battery at the store. just put it on a charge & top it off easy easy.

@@striker1211 coil to forgot that.
It's saying low oil. Did you check the oil level before running?
The green light is the ac signal / system set light. The red light was over crank. I check the oil religiously. Thanks for watching.

@@vhcm123 Over crank. I had the same problem. Changed the battery and did the service (oil, filters, spark plugs) and haven't had a problem since.

This video should really be taken down
