I am being treated by Dr. Insalaco in Rome, I use topical finasteride and in September I will undergo surgery in her clinic. The results in recent months with topical finasteride have been very good, with an increase in density and without any side effects. I hope everything will go well

It's amazing some of the results you will see from topical finasteride. She works with a good pharmacy. Hope you a nice hair transplant experience and send her our regards.

What really needs to be done is a huge study of oral versus topical. I'm taking oral minoxidil at 2.5 mgs, three times a day, so 7.5 total. This I figure is most advantageous as the half life of Minoxidil is 4.2 hours, so spacing it out every 4-6 hours can assure systemic supply. For me, I like the mixed topical formulation you suggest but then the male to female transgenders seem to get the best results for hair regeneration. Frankly I just want what will work best even if I shift over to the other side. I don't prefer topical applications as they can make the scalp look "see through", especially if one doesn't shower regularly. I read that for women taking oral minoxidil and oral spironolactone is effective solution but even better is taking estrogen as well for the male to female transgenders. I know you do hormonal testing but is male hormonal balance the most optimal to regrowing hair or is going from male to female the way to achieve best results in regrowing hair?

The best thing to do is a genetic test to determine the optimal medication treatment plan. The genetic test will determine if you are a better responder to oral or topical and at what concentrations are optimal.

From 2013-2020 I maintained hair well with generic oral finasteride and topical rogaine. After covid I stopped maintaining. I stayed on same protocol for 2 years still losing ground daily. In 2023 I switched to oral generic dutasteride and oral minoxidil (5mg)/day bit after a year, I'm still noticeably thinner and continue to lose ground. Since this protocol isn't working, I'm either going to switch to brand name oral Finasteride (brand Dut too expensive) or topical versions of both. Thoughts? Any input is appreciated.

There are many medications out there to combat hair. You may want to consider a genetic test to see what you respond best to. Name brand is a better product than generic. We do tend to see better results from topical treatments, but not everyone has the receptors to dissolve certain medications. All these treatments are designed to slow down hair loss, but they will not stop it. You could also try mesotherapy in conjunction with take home medical therapy to enhance the results.

Can you do a video on topical dutasteride? It's been said based on its molecular weight, it either doesn't go systemic or goes less systemic than topical finasteride.

I have been using XYON 2.5% topical finasteride with 3% minoxidil gel daily for the past 1.5 months. After the first 2 weeks I noticed some sides such as loss of sex interest and more importantly loss of morning erection (which I used to have daily before starting the topical gel). To exclude the psychological effect, I kept using the gel daily hoping things would change if it was only in my head. Unfortunately, It’s still the same sides. My concern is that this 2.5 % is super high dose (=25 mg finasteride on scalp). So even if very little absorbed, say 5% of the 25 mg, it means 1.25 mg goes systemic which is like an oral dose). Any insight or feedback ?!
On a side note, not sure if it’s of any relevance, two weeks after starting the gel, I experienced problems in the two arms joints (shoulder and elbows) little pain and stiffness especially at night. This never happened to me before so I wondered if it’s related to the finasteride or it’s just a coincidence!!

Try going as low as .5 % finasteride with 3% minoxidil. There is still a risk of systemic side effects. Other than the loss of morning wood, are you still able to get it up if you try? Regarding joint pain, the is the first reported case I have come across. Have you changed anything else in your daily routine?

@@forhair thanks for your kind reply. Actually loss of morning wood has been a major concern for me. However, I’m not 100 sure if it’s nocebo effect, especially with my bad experience with oral propecia years back. I can still get erection from time to time but libido is low, again I’m not sure if it’s only in my mind. That’s why I keep using it hoping that my mind clears up.
Yes, I do not believe that propecia causes this joint pain. However, I was concerned coz this pain (which I never had) started less than two weeks after starting the topical formula. Before starting the topical one 1.5 month ago I was using nutrafol supplement for 1 year (it has multivitamins and collagen). I stopped it just right before I started the topical finasteride, not sure if this caused a drop in collagen, vit D, etc that affected my joints, or something else….

@@user-pz8vo7wh6l I don't react well with Minoxidil and I use the 2.5% Xyon. Try applying it every 3 days to give your body a chance to clear some this will still allow your hair to be saved and not overloading your body. This is especially important while your body adapts.

instead of buying liquid finastride, can i crush a tablet and mix with water for topical?
if I crush 5mg tablet, how much water to take? and how much water to apply daily?

    • @forhair
      @forhair  6 місяців тому +1

Pulverizing a pill and blending it with water, oil, or juice isn't a recommended method for creating a reliable and safe topical treatment. It's advisable to consult with a nearby hair restoration specialist to explore alternative options , but if you insist to try it you can read here how to make: perfecthairhealth.com/can-i-make-topical-finasteride-by-crushing-pills/

      You definitely can’t use water.
You can crush tablet and dissolve in minoxidil.
If you don’t want minoxidil you can use ur own solution. 70% food grade ethanol (everclear 190 grain alcohol works) and 30% propylene glycol. Crush finasteride and add to solution and shake it all together

Yes, these are all possibilities, but it is important to keep in mind that when the clinical study was conducted the age range of men was 45-80. There were 6.3% of men in the placebo that had sexual dysfunction compared to roughly 15% that were actually taking finasteride that experienced loss of libido. Were these men actually losing libido due to finasteride or because of age. There are always risk to a pharmaceutical. While very few people experience the side effects it is important to be aware of them. Should you experience any of the side effects mentioned, it is best to stop taking the medication. Thanks for sharing.

@@forhair incorrect!! Also majority of the high amounts of post finasteride syndrome patients are in their 20s and 30s. You should understand that Merck was fined millions for hiding reports of injured men from their studies as well . I am contacted daily by men suffering and getting swiped under the rug from majority of doctors but now the true doctors are coming through for men suffering. Studies also show 186 brain DNA genes have been altered. This is a serious epidemic and it's only going to get worse with doctors downplaying the men who have been permanently injured.
