  • Today I will be reacting to a plastic surgeon ‪@drgarylinkov‬ reacting to my hair transplant results 😄
I got a hair transplant about 8 and a half months ago. I went to Istanbul, Turkey to get my hair transplant done and got 2,400 grafts at the Dr. Serkan Aygin Clinic.

I was given a capillus hat as a free gift and was told to wear it everyday for growth for the new hair. I tried medication instead of going the hair transplant route. Had aggressive diffuse pattern alopecia at 23 (scalp became see through almost overnight). My first recourse was minoxidil and then I added finasteride on to my regimen. Had some sexual sides with finasteride and not so great results (it helped with stopping further hair loss). Switched to dutasteride and weirdly enough the sexual sides disappeared (it was almost like being on steroids). Had more energy on the latter, reduced brain fog, and managed a 90 percent hair loss recovery. Right now, I take dutasteride thrice a week with topical minoxidil. When I first switched to Dutasteride there was very aggressive hair shedding (had to shave to a 1). It took 6 months to see results but it is worth it. I am still maintaining a decade later.

I’ve been on finasteride 17:43 for over 20 years and have never experienced any side effects at all. I began early and used it preventively and have kept my hair . Had I not been on it, I believe I would have lost my hair. Everyone is different, but it’s worth trying, the earlier you use it the better. It’s easier to keep what you have versus trying to grow back lost hair. I use minoxidil foam as well.

Now in march my hair is thinning in general and I developed a small bald spot on my crown. I can hide it since my hair has always been naturally thick but I still hopped on finasteride and went for blood tests. Turns out my vitamin d is extremely deficient so I got on vitamin d pills as well. Hopefully this stabilizes it at least or maybe I can regrow it, but I’ll be happy if it just stops how it is now.

I will also recommend not taking finestride, i dont have a transplant simce my hairline haven't decreased yet but i use minoxidil 5% topical liquid spray because i belong to the family of bald men (my father, uncles, cusions etc) and i dont want that to happen to me since i am the only one left with full head of hairs. Before starting minoxidil I used finestride for 3 weeks and the sexual side effects were huge on me (i mean huge) at that point so i stopped immediately and then it took me around 2 and half months for me to get back at pre-finestride state which was pretty good i must say.
Right now i am using minoxidil (11 months and 27 days now) and also started biotin 2500 mcg one and half months ago. It is easy to use minoxidil on shorter hairs but yes it gets harder to apply on longer (more than 2 inches) hairs in my experience. I had around 6 inch of length a week ago and then i shaved my head which i do every march, at the start of summer, because i can't handle the heat on my scalp and face and my hair growth is above average around 0.75 to 0.8 inch a month so I'll have good length of hairs again in 5 to 6 months. I heard topical finestride is best to avoid the side effect and sadly i dont have it available in my country so you should get the topical version of it but I don't know how you apply it with minoxidil. You should check that out as well.
Anyway sorry for my long comment but yes i will also recommend not taking oral finestride and minoxidil.

Don’t listen to this nonsense. ^^
It doesn’t even make sense if you think about it for 2-seconds.
What’s the difference between blocking DHT with finasteride or natural supplements? If the lower DHT is causing the side-effects, you’ll get the side effects no matter how you lower it.
You might as well take the finasteride, which has actually been shown to work in large scale studies.

@@tomcotter4299 Great response. I understand how people fall for this logical fallacy that natural products are inherently safer, but their claims should be corrected.
Just to add to what you said, even if a natural product works like finasteride, we can't really say it lowers it to a hair safe level.
At the end of the day, most of these products might as well be placebo and a huge waste of money, scalp massages and smearing broccolli on your scalp are cheaper at this point, lol

Good luck gentlemen

It’s been about a month or so and it has improved but not fully yet at least I think… just be careful man…
Also, I have been on minoxidil for about 2 years, and I recently decided to start dermarolling my hair and using a derma pin as well.. so I’m just gonna stick to that route

Take finasteride only when you experience heavy hair loss. I assume you are somewhere 30 years old. Your androgen receptors have already slowed down in binding dht. Eat dht reducing foods and saw palmetto to reduce dht serum by 30%. Also use stimulants daily and you will be fine for a long time. Finasteride should be avoided as much as possible since it is a cancer treatment for a dangerous desease which hairloss is not.
