Good one, I just took delivery of my LX5 today, and that leaves me only lacking the LX1 of the "classic" LXs. The favourite when it comes to usablility is hands-down the LX7, that one still sings as a pocket rocket, add the lvf-2 and it is probably the most nimble and fullfilling of the advanced compacts across brands with a full feature set.
Great review. Thanks for the information. I have this camera and agree that the lens is incredibly sharp. It's a perfect little digicam to pop in a pocket and take everywhere.
Just received one of these from my uncle since he doesn't use it anymore, this review is a godsend since my only experience with cameras is the ones phones have! Looking forward to learning to take pictures!
Very nice review! You are obviously an aficionado of old cameras. I've been experimenting with my Lumix G1. Straight out of camera jpg are soft and "filmic". I've opened the jpg in Photo AI and WOW!!!! Photo AI can make old cameras really rock! You've motivated me to look at the LX1 to add to my collection of pocket cameras. Thanks!
Tiny interesting camera. Have a Lumix DMC-TZ1 and some other Lumix cameras, but no from the LX-series. The TZ1, only a 5MP JEPG-machine, works very well and the others too :-). With greetings from lower Bavaria.
Its cheaper than the Leica D Lux 2: if you like the famous red dot, you’d be paying a premium for it, because internally, its the same camera! In 2024, it compares well with the Yi Mi mirrorless camera from 2016 and what they’ve in common beside their appearance, they lack a viewfinder and everything is controlled from the screen. Professional photographers chafe at a point and shoot but basic photography is about being in the moment. Not every shot has to be elaborately composed. For that reason, the LX1 still holds up quite well in 2024.
Utter nonsense, we have a saying in the UK, "A bad workman blames his tools", the LX1 may well be old, but it's more than capable of creating great images (as I fully believe my video illustrates). The camera certainly has its limitations, but given its age, that's not surprising.
I had one of these. I do not care for it at all. It is really not a user friendly camera at all. Menu is very confusing. I have several Canon cameras,I have Samsung cameras,I have Fujifilm cameras. This one was by far the hardest to navigate the system. Canon is by far the easiest. Just trying to delete a photo is a nightmare.
A nightmare, hmmm. I just bought a used LX1, it took about 3 seconds to figure out how to delete a photo, no user guide needed. It's actually a delightful camera and I'm enjoying the menus with no difficulties at all. Maybe photography isn't your best choice, you might want to try bowling instead. Good luck!

Great overview and review. Tremendous shots too.
Many thanks, it means a lot
Such a great review! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Love this series, I own a LX3 myself and it is a superb little camera for its price nowadays.

A great gift to get, enjoy it
@@gideonliddiardphotography for sure! I'll work hard to use it to its full potential
Excellent review! You have me searching locally here in Minneapolis Minnesota for any potential deals that fall through!
Many thanks and good luck on your hunt
Interesting camera that wasn't on my radar, thanks for sharing.
I've added your channel, it's good to connect with other photography creators.
Thanks for this! Was about to find one for pretty decent price. Oddly I like the grain in the images haha. Gives a film like effect
Glad I could help!

Thanks for watching and good luck on your search for an LX1, and I agree PhotoAI can work wonders with older cameras.

Can the battery of DMC-FX01 work on DMC-LX-1 as well?
Your videos would be much more enjoyable with better audio.
You got some fantastic shots with the camera!!
the Leica d lux 2 is a rebranded Lumix lx2 10mp not a lx1

It is not the same. Leica processes the digits differently than does Panasonic. Leica colors differ from Panasonic colors.

Send it to me. I will use it. And I won't complain about it.
