      One of these days I might make one pretty, but that's what I have the Missus for Rob. My tractors need to be ready to work !! Well, she does too, but you know what I mean. LOL The longer you leave a machine sit, the more damage Mother Nature will do to the machine. It's better to use them daily that to sit unused.

    Nice tractor. Got the Allis Chalmers B home. I turned the hand crank and checked the oil before I bought it but it was locked up solid by the time I got her home and tested the starter. I pulled the starter off and now she is free. Looks like the starter gear was jamming into the flywheel. Good thing I resisted the urge to pull it around in gear and break the flywheel lol

    • @tractorman4461
      @tractorman4461  Рік тому

      Yeah that wouldn't be good. Fortunately the ring gear would probably be what would become damaged, but unfortunately that would require splitting the tractor to install a new one on the flywheel. But you did good doing what you did. Once you get it running good and smooth you will find those little B's (and C's) start so easily with little more than a bump on the crank. You will enjoy the little fella TBP.

We were in Ontario a few years back and stayed west of Toronto an hour or so. We found a really cool museum in Simcoe. Lots of old industrial machinery in a really big area outside and a lot for the ladies to peruse inside the buildings. It was a good trip for sure. The trip introduced us to Tim Hortons too. Plus a cool boatride in an area called something about a thousand islands. What a fun boat ride. The Missus loved every minute of ....as did I.

    I didn't get locked in to any particular side for shifting growing up. We had three tractors (well I still have them) a '40 Farmall H, '44 Allis-Chalmers B and a '51 John Deere B. All had different shifting. The H of course is left hand, The AC B is right hand and the JD B would be considered center except with the hand clutch you pretty much had to shift with your left hand. Yeah, the H is sounding pretty good! I plowed with my JD B the other day and I think the good hour of pulling the old two bottom plow did it good. I enjoy running the old tractors as much as possible. 👍👍👍

    • @tractorman4461

      One thing about it you sure aren't prejudiced to color with red, green AND orange sharing the same stable !! Hot dang though, the H was the big boy on the block for you, wasn't it. There's something about old iron isn't there.

    • @1lilfarm
      @1lilfarm Рік тому

      @@tractorman4461 Actually we used the JD B for the heavy work, plowing, discing and pulling stuck tractors out. The H was our cultivating tractor in the summer and loader tractor in the fall and winter, moving manure and plowing snow. The little AC B was a multi-use tractor. Mid-mount sickle bar mower for cutting hay and mowing ditches, one row cultivator for the garden and drawbar tractor for pulling wagons loaded with anything from asparagus to watermelons and everything in between! Each tractor performed great in its own jobs. I have added a few more tractors to the herd. A '50 Farmall H, I bought because the '40 broke down and I needed something that could be used with the implements. I also got a '45 Farmall M and a '52 Ford 8N (with implements) and they were FREE!!! 😊😊😊

      @@1lilfarm Well that's cool !! I would never have the the JD B would be more suited for the heavy work than the H. I guess the big low rpm jugs have loads of torque and as we know, it's the torque that does the work, not horsepower. Awesome reply my friend and who WOULDN"T take free implements for an 8n !! LOL Wait a minute...the way that's written the M, the 8n AND the implements were free !! Is that right...!!?? If so, my hats off to you sir. LOL

    • @1lilfarm
      @1lilfarm Рік тому

      @@tractorman4461 Yes! The M, 8N and it's implements were free!!! My Son's best friend lost his Grandfather and nobody in the family wanted them. The 8N runs great after a little tinkering. As a thank you to them for giving them to me, I bush hog a field for them twice a year with the 8N (and free bush hog!). Yeah, Dad plowed and disced 120 acres every year with the JD B and a two bottom plow. The disc is 9 foot so discing went quite a bit quicker. 👍👍👍

      @@tractorman4461 yes, he said he's self-taught. it's too bad you can't go to your local Creek and did your gravel anymore. We used to. Then that was rounded back when I was a kid was last time we did. Guy owned both sides of the creek. Another guy upstream where the first guys property line end his began and went on for a few miles. And that guy on a wide expanse on both sides of the stream. By what people have told me there is a number of agencies that regulate and enforces this. I don't really know anything about. I've heard everything from EPA department of natural resources conservation department handcuff LaValley's on federal level and the state level. In some states very similar department go by different names. Well the guy at the end of our lane who owns absolutely none of it is the most demanding and that includes tears everything up with the most traffic on the road. He has numerous people that lived back there on his probably. And how he got it was first went to Mama and she was what they call a black widow out of another state pretty far away. Got the old man to leave everything to her and she subsequently gave everything to him at least just about. This guy is used to working it to get everything you want for nothing. I can go on but if you got the idea that he played flowboard well go down several more levels and you are getting close. Well one of the individuals that consistently live back there in his compound went and took a pickup truck to that Creek. And this is very recently a year back maybe at most. Dugout a pickup truck I hand ✋ full of rock. The way I know this is Ella neighbors like me don't like him to put it blunt. So one day I cornered a guy as he came in here it and he plays his game pretty well just like I do. Guy behind me his property just goes up to the bank or just a 2 or 3 ft shy of the bank of the stream. He is a hand it by I think the conservation representative. Law enforcement and was told that it back exactly the way he found it. And he had no clue 🧩 because he wants it he can take it whatever it may be. He got excited about it and you just laying it on me. I asked him he said no he did not get ticket and was not arrested or fined. I told him I knew who the author was and he got off easy because that guy Normally throws the book at everybody. Now I'm sure I'm not telling you something you don't already know. But I'm sharing this with you because of the episode on the road and talk about the Rock. It's amazing how quick $5,000 went away when I was having hauled in by the semi trailer load. Now I'm going to have a couple of semi trailer loads come in dump it where there's no possible reason for anybody else. And lay out my area. Because I have a project. But it takes a lot to maintain a road and since I've done my share and quite a bit more and so did my dad built the road. Honestly if they can ride a horse in and out that's all we have to do. So all I'm saying is the rest of them is Getty Up 🐎.

      @@CAROLDDISCOVER-1983 Yeah, the gov't gets their claws in everywhere they can trying to tell a guy what he bought and paid for ain't his to use as he pleases. I do have a buddy with half mile creek that'd let me have all the gravel I can haul. The only kicker is the water cannot be flowing. The creek has to be low enough to where there are pockets of water but no flow. Ain't that crazy ! Then out on the farm we hauled gravel all the time for the farm roads and for pouring concrete. All the foundations out there for the barns and outbuildings even my dad's basement was creek rock and hand poured. They even hand poured the concrete silo with one 30'' form. Pour the first level, elevated the form, pour #2 then on and on until they got to the height they wanted. Man I forked tons of silage outta that thing !! My granddad bought a 1 yard mixer with an inline 4 cylinder Continental 260 cu in motor back in the day. Would've been about 1937-38. That's what they used to build the new barn foundation, knee wall and floors, the silo and a bunch of other stuff too. Times are a changin' my friend. Some of it for the good some of it not so good. LOL

    Why the condom on the belt pulley?

      Ahhhhh Rick, you're the first to ask. I put the H on the buzz saw from time to time and its got the fibre belt pully. So to keep water off of it I keep it under wraps. Those pulleys are hard to find around here and those that do have them want a pound of gold for 'em. So I gotta protect the only one I have. I don't really want to remove it every time, but I guess I really should. Now if it wasn't independent of the rear pto I WOULD remove it. But they turn independently. Good eye buddy !!
