"Annihilation" is a gripping sci-fi thriller based on Jeff VanderMeer's novel. The story follows Lena, a biologist and former soldier, who joins an all-female team of scientists on an expedition into The Shimmer, a strange and expanding phenomenon on Earth. The team encounters a mesmerizing yet dangerous environment filled with mutated creatures and unsettling occurrences.
As they journey deeper into The Shimmer, the scientists grapple with their own inner demons and interpersonal conflicts. The phenomenon distorts time and memory, heightening the psychological tension among the team members. Lena's motivation to understand and save her husband, who was part of a previous expedition, drives her to confront the heart of The Shimmer.
Inside the lighthouse, the epicenter of The Shimmer, Lena unravels the disturbing truth behind its existence. The phenomenon refracts and combines DNA, giving rise to extraordinary and horrifying mutations. Lena's confrontation with an alien entity tests her resilience and forces her to confront her own self-destructive tendencies.
As Lena fights to escape The Shimmer, the film delves into thought-provoking themes such as self-destruction, identity, and the nature of life itself. The narrative raises intriguing questions about the boundaries of human understanding and the consequences of unchecked scientific exploration.
"Annihilation" leaves viewers with a sense of awe and contemplation, offering a visually stunning and intellectually stimulating experience that lingers long after the credits roll.

The girl that was freaking out..was freaking out. But she's right too.
Natalie Portman/Ventrus both had different agendas that they didn't tell the crew
