Even though this video is nearly 9 years old, seeing it now is very timely for me! I have a new project that calls for a longer cast on than any other project I've done so far. I've tried starting it on circular needles, but I just don't like knitting intricate stitches for straight stitch off of cables. I went to bed wondering if I could find or somehow make extensions for my 14" needles. Then I see this today, and realize that I can make my own longer needles! Tomorrow I'll go to the hardware store and look for long dowels, and hope I can find the correct circumference. Thanks!
I made some out of thick Wooden Dowels! I carved it Down to a point and I hot glued a wooden button on the bottom to make sure stitches don't fall off if you make many stitches!

I still love making needles this way. It's a great camping project. : )

Love it 💕
I just put them in a pencil sharpener and sand the point down
Great idea!
