There's a lot of Hamilton references in the Dream SMP, especially during the first season. It's basically "Hamilton but Hamilton loses his mind". You absolutely, positively should watch the whole musical. Starting with a song from Act 2 and working backwards to the opening number is not the best way to approach Hamilton for your first time.
What led LMM to equate Hamilton with HipHop is that he read a biography about the man and realized that he was a word-smith who "wrote like he was running out to time" and the founding fathers were mostly "hungry" young men who wanted to see their world change for the better which, in Lin's mind just landed squarely on HipHop. --- Enjoy, my friend.
A vote for you to watch and enjoy the whole musical. Many of the most impressive songs are even more impressive in context. You may appreciate the rhyming schemes along with the varied forms of hip-hop, R&B, pop, and musical theater throughout the show.

Hamilton is my favourite musical and what got me into musicals so I was so excited when I saw you were reacting to songs from it. Also, YOU HAVE TO REACT TO THE FULL MUSICAL NOW. It will make everything make sense a lot more and it's just amazing in general.
Please watch the entire musical! It’s genuinely amazing and has good humour. Now onto the facts to answer some of ur questions. So, the actor of Lafayette (the one who did the rap in Guns And Ships) isn’t French, he just does a great accent. In fact, he plays another great character who doesn’t have a French accent. Also, Guns and Ships holds the record for fastest rap in a musical ever, so… that’s a thing… Also, Burn, the first song you listened to, was near the end of the play, where there are a lot more calm songs, as a lot more tragedy happens and it’s a lot more emotional. The last song is actually amazing and from Eliza’s (same character who sung Burn) perspective as well.
Songs I would recommend to listen to and maybe even react to if you would like? Satisfied Wait for it The room where it happens Hurricane They are all great and really drives the story forward with some great characterisation. And also just sounds amazing, some of my favourites from the musical.
If you're into rap and hip-hop, listen to the entire soundtrack. You'll hear plays on all the early classics; Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote several of the songs as tributes to his early musical influences. It's fun to go through and pick them out.
You should def react to other musicals, I’d recommend something like Hadestown, Six: The Musical, or Legally Blonde: The Musical. You can’t go wrong with most things on Broadway tho. Or Starkid if you’re looking for paradies.

I think he does a three part one on The Hamilcast and it was amazing to hear how he does what he does. Also, YES you should watch (or at least listen) to the whole thing. Everything will make sense then, especially Burn.
I suggest reacting to “dear Evan Hansen” musical songs and possibly “the guy who didn’t like musicals” (pretty sure that’s what it’s called) they’ve got some bops
you need to listen to first burn! it has a lot of high notes and in my opinion i liked first burn a little more than i liked burn, simply because it delivered for the amp. philipa soo's vocals are of course amazing though and i would've killed to have her sing in first burn!
I've actually grown to like burn more. In the past I liked first burn more due to the crazy amount of high notes, but now I feel that burn goes a bit deeper in terms of Eliza's character. First burn was great and expressed anger in the best way, but I feel like burn also did that while maintaining a gut wrenching feeling of utmost depression. Idk that's just my opinion! Love first burn though.
if you do another one of these I would definitely recommend satisfied, wait for it, guns and ships, dear theodosia and what'd I miss. they are very good
Interesting that the first song you picked from all the songs in Hamilton was Burn. 😁 It’s beautiful but not one of the iconic Hamilton song I would expect someone to pick first. I hope you listen to them all, in order after this, they tell the whole story. It’s a treat.
If you are going to do more musicals… I highly highly highly recommend Beetlejuice. I would love to see your reaction to it if you haven’t listened to it that much or ever before
These songs REALLY REALLY REALLY NEED to be listened to IN ORDER though........ And yes, I would absolutely recommend listening to / watching the whole musical. No, David Diggs is not French! And he comes back as a different character (Thomas Jefferson) in the 2nd act, with no accent.

React to Will Wood, Mathew? Please? Maybe?
I can't believe he's listening to Hamilton for the first time out of order 😅
I suggest reacting to “dear Evan Hansen” musical songs and possibly “the guy who didn’t like musicals” (pretty sure that’s what it’s called) they’ve got some bops

Me, being a Mormon:... How The F*CK!?!?!?!
you need to listen to first burn! it has a lot of high notes and in my opinion i liked first burn a little more than i liked burn, simply because it delivered for the amp. philipa soo's vocals are of course amazing though and i would've killed to have her sing in first burn!
Eliza is also my favourite character!! Her voice is so gorgeous and soothing and she’s the purest kindest most loving bean
Can you listen to Kikuo? im sure you would be amazed by how many layers there is in his songs
"Why does it feel like I'm in for a Dream SMP fan song?"
Wilbur:
I’d love to see more of Hamilton! Maybe also a listen to Dear Evan Hansen since it just got a movie adaptation? You Will Be Found is a gorgeous song
YESSS IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!
When you talk about lin-manuel Miranda you GOTTA talk about rhyming schemes AT LENGTH
if you do another one of these I would definitely recommend satisfied, wait for it, guns and ships, dear theodosia and what'd I miss. they are very good
You've made my inner hamilfan surface again
listen to more please. I've listened to the entire soundtrack, and it goes so much deeper than this.
Interesting that the first song you picked from all the songs in Hamilton was Burn. 😁
It’s beautiful but not one of the iconic Hamilton song I would expect someone to pick first.
I hope you listen to them all, in order after this, they tell the whole story. It’s a treat.
Need the entire musical reaction! 💗
I want the rhyming scheme essay Mathew.
You don't know how long I've waited for this, I'm so excited!!!! 😆
OK NOW THE HEATHERS SONGS.
this is a demand mathew.
YES
mathew- “I dont know what those other characters were”
me- they literally introduced themselves lmaooo
Seeing the whole musical is great
If you’re getting this excited about Burn you should listen to ‘First Burn!” It’s the girls who tried out for Eliza all singing the song together!!
YOU SIR HAVE COMMITED A CRIME! but I can forgive since you made this video abt Hamilton.
I conquer
YES MATHEW PLEEEESE WATCH THE FULL MUSICAL!!!!
The fact that you didn't listen to Helpless hurts my feeling but I can forgive you don't worry
Bro has been living under a mountain 😂😂😂
If you are going to do more musicals… I highly highly highly recommend Beetlejuice. I would love to see your reaction to it if you haven’t listened to it that much or ever before
Burn was, hmm, *_a choice_* of a song to start on, definitely
My favourite hamilton songs are definitely farmer refuted, one last time, you'll be back, and wait for it
Satisfied is also a great one!
THIS IS CULTURE
The whole thing is on Disney+ I think, I'd totally be interested to watch your reaction! Or just listen to all of the songs in order (that's what I did for years).
