The drink that Ushijima consumes is a jelly energy drink. While in a competition they burn a lot of calories and energy to think, and usually while doing so it makes them hungry. Since they can't eat in the middle of a match, they need other food supply, that why he consume that stuff, low in calorie but make you full for a while.
Yo you should defenitely check Diamond no Ace it's a really really good baseball anime. The plot, the character development is on another level. Since kuroko and haikyuu is already end, I hope you can react to Diamond no Ace!!
