LaunchBox 13.14 has also come out to fix a few nagging bugs that cropped up with the major 13.13 release. Check the full changelog listed in the description for a full breakdown.
I'm glad I wasn't shortsighted and bought the lifetime subscription from you guys back in 2020. Not only did you help me get through the pandemic (with a ton of booze), but you still continue to enhance my gaming experience years later.
Launchbox is still the best and most updated software I've ever purchased. Thank you for not going the subscription route, and I hope this software never dies.
I'm so glad that I discovered your software this year as I have vowed to finally (maybe) get my emulation all settled. I admittedly didn't purchase the Forever version before and I have since enjoyed the free software. But after watching this video, I can see that you're committed to a quality product, and THAT is why I will be purchasing the license even if possibly I won't use all of the features. Thank you for making a great product at a fair price - many others should follow your example. Cheers ~
wait...what happened to ETA prime! loaded up to hear his dulcet tones and found RetroP. No issue, great job and another great update for LB/BB... keep em coming
This is a fantastic update! I recently did a fresh install of Launchbox, just a week or so ago due to me getting rid of all my physical drives and replacing them with SSD's, and I am still sorting out all my rom folders and bios files etc, so this new feature has come at just the right time for me and am looking forward to tinkering with it later. Great work! :-)
You should hire Faeran and pay him for doing more Big Box themes, complete his "Cover box" theme for all existing platforms 😎 Emulation station DE and Retrobat themes are kinda one step ahead. Ports from those themes for Big Box would be great also 😁
Great update, installing 13.14 now. A recommendation I have for future is to improve the PS Vita Platform to scrape metadata via Title ID. I had to match my 600 or so titles manually which took a couple days. Scraping by Title ID similar to PS3 implementation would reduce this to minutes.
Thank you guys for your hard work on this platform! I hope you bring Launch Box Big Box to the Apple TV one day now that Apple is allowing emulators on their platforms.
Hi! I'm a happy user of LaunchBox Premium.... I love the new features of LaunchBox 13.13 and 14. I would love to see support for choosing among different rom versions in 7z files for romsets such as goodsnes or goodgba, it seems the plugins which do that do not function properly. Great work!
I love that you guys are putting in constant work. Is there any plans to release Launchbox on Linux? I use Linux PCs as Media PCs for my TVs and it'd be great to have launchbox on them. There are other options for linux out there like Emulation Station but in my opinion nothing is as good as Launchbox.
Please update "Attract Mode" to let us customize which games we want to be shown, add a simple scroll down a list games options and no only randomize, let us choose how many seconds/minutes to show each game. why so hard to add those?
Like many more here I am so glad I got the lifetime subscription! Real definition of gift that keeps giving. Thanks for the continuous improvement. If something, looking forward if you guys are cooking something for IOS. It would be great to unleash the potential of my iPad Pro with a nice and neat emulation setup. The only Apple product I use to be honest.
Thanks for your videos. Launchbox simplifies things greatly, Although Retroarch itself is a confusing nightmare. The menu controls are the most confusing part. I can never figure out how to simply navigate the menus it's like it was designed by aliens.
I don't suppose there's any chance of you guys adding howlongtobeat into launchbox? Kinda like you did for retroachievements (which is up again now, incase you didn't realise, pls add that back)
We'd love to. However Howlongtobeat would need to create a public API and be on board with us using their information, which both are unfortunately not true at this time. We may have other avenues though...
@UnbrokenSoftwareLLC Ah that's a shame. Well maybe you could create your own database where players could submit their playtime? Or find another api. I'd imagine the former wouldn't be as detailed as the later through; just because of the much smaller database of players.
Yeah, there are other options, however they are all owned by larger corporations, like HowLongToBeat is owned by the guy that owns IGN, Humble Bundle and the like. IGDB has some information, that's owned by Amazon. If all else fails, we'll probably build something ourselves.
Is there a way to add the new Majora Mask recompile project to Launch box/ big box? If so, can you do a quick video showing us all how to add it? Thanks
Any game with an exe can be added into LaunchBox, either through the manual Add a game method, or drag and drop of that exe into LaunchBox to start the import wizard.
EDIT - Sorry - disregard below, I saw the version numbers at 5:37 and see it's the nightly builds :) This is great news. Does Launchbox download the stable or nightly builds?
Hi I'm having an issue with launch box/big box: basically when ever I exit certain pc/steam games my windows looses focus on big box, so therefore Im unable to use my attached controllers. I need this to work because I have an arcade setup and don't want a keyboard and mouse attached. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated!
really nice update, however I am having a strange issue after this update. The snap videos are not showing in lunchbox or bigbox even though the videos are in the correct folder with the correct name. they used to play actually before the update. I am not sure how to fix it.
Make sure they are really the "correct name". Find a game that's missing their video, go check what the name is of the file. Then edit the game, go to the video section and add the game directly in the interface itself. Press OK to save the changes, then check the name of the file again. Were they the same or different?
@@UnbrokenSoftwareLLC Thank you for your respond. I did that and this is what happen : I added the game (Resident Evil: HD Remaster) to Launchbox. I manually added a video of my gameplay in the video folder. I coped the name of the game from Launchbox (CTRL+E on the game then copy the name). I pasted the name and this message appeared " A file name can't contain any of the following characters : \ / *? ..." so the name now will be "Resident Evil HD Remaster". I understand there is a difference due to the not allowed characters. However, Launchbox before this update didn't have any issue and still linked the video with the game. Now, it couldn't. I tested this in multiple games and multiple platforms. Doing the method you explained and linking the video though Lauchbox, the video was renamed as "Resident Evil_ HD Remaster-01". In conclusion, this update require the character":" to be replaced in the video name as "_ " (underscore and space) or it will not link it to the game. By using the Audit feature, many game no longer linked with their video as this was not require in previous versions. Could you please advice on what to do.
In order to add a video, you should instead be using the Edit Game interface, go into the Video section and add your video that way. No need to worry about naming standards at all. The reason you are seeing a difference in this version is that we found a bug where the loose naming of files were also causing improperly named media to also match with games it shouldn't have, all over a user's library without them realizing. We had to make sure media was better matching the games they were meant for, which unfortunately also caused what you are seeing for users that decided to place their own media files into folders without 100% making sure they followed our naming standards.
PS2 Emulator not downloading properly for me. Having trouble importing PS2 files to Launchbox and getting them to play.. New PS2 emulator version coming soon.
Will Launchbox update or download the emulators to the folders where they are currently located, or will Launchbox just download new emulators to different locations?
Not in this round. MAME is a different beast entirely that doesn't have emulator specific dependency files, but game specific ones, and only for some set types. If we do go down that road, that's going to end up being a separate thing altogether.
I have a huge library of games and and many of them are missing metadata due to incorrect naming. I use both Launchbox and Emumovies to download data, but what I would like to know is if it's possible to filter games by missing metadata. This would make it much easier for me to fix them. Thanks
Will you be adding other emulator integrations? (I agree that PCSX2 and Dolphin were a good place to start, since they're really the only choice for those platforms.)
like to know if you can install big box on a external hd with games and will it run from it without installing on your pc? and does it tell you if you have duplicate games?
Importing RPCS3 games (Playstation 3) games should use %GameID% And then Xenia games with Xbox 360 needs to support XEX and GOD formats. Iso can but technically "shouldn't" be supported

a nervous breakdown?

Thank you for the solid and constant updates and evolution of LaunchBox!

Auto downloading the emulators is a big win! Thanks for the hard work guys. Good explanation as well 👏

Outstanding! It almost makes me want t do a clean install, just to test all the new features from scratch.
Nice! Launchbox for the win. appreciate the release video!
This update brings the environment to a level where anyone can just use it. Holy amazing
You should hire Faeran and pay him for doing more Big Box themes, complete his "Cover box" theme for all existing platforms 😎
Emulation station DE and Retrobat themes are kinda one step ahead. Ports from those themes for Big Box would be great also 😁
Hands down, best value in emulation. Gpt my lifetime sub last year. Took me too long, but I'm here.
Stoked to check out this update for myself... Looks promising :)

Absolutely amazing. Keep it up!
Thank you guys for your hard work on this platform! I hope you bring Launch Box Big Box to the Apple TV one day now that Apple is allowing emulators on their platforms.
Nice Features, Launchbox still the best for my need!
Its great to see how far this app has come.

The auto configuration and importing of box art is awesome!! Does launchbox download box art based on md5 hashes?
No, it's based on the filename

Yes, go to Tools > Audit, and audit your games. That window allows you to sort by any type of metadata
@UnbrokenSoftwareLLC Thank you soo much. This makes everything much easier! 😃
Does it setup arcade games automatically ? I can never get arcade roms to work in launch box. In retroarch they work fine
Will you be adding other emulator integrations? (I agree that PCSX2 and Dolphin were a good place to start, since they're really the only choice for those platforms.)
That's the long term plan. ;)
It would be great if they add the tricky consoles that hard to get going correctly. What a time saver it would be
(stares at RPCS3)
nice
nice features god i already purchased a lifetime sub way back i wil get a emumovies lifetime account soon to :)
No more ETA Prime??
He's still around, but have to let other hamsters spin the wheel from time to time ;)
@@UnbrokenSoftwareLLC Gotcha
I ❤ ETA prime
like to know if you can install big box on a external hd with games and will it run from it without installing on your pc?
and does it tell you if you have duplicate games?
Yes to both. If you need help with either you can ask over on our community forums: forums.launchbox-app.com/
Will there ever be a Launchbox for Linux?
There's a good chance. When will we have anything to show? I'm not sure yet. Still a ways off from that being a reality.
the best 50$ i ever spent
I still can't get Mame tom full sets ro upload.
WOT U SAY!?
Android ?
I'd buy ANOTHER license if this ever finally came to Linux. Pretty please 😢
Importing RPCS3 games (Playstation 3) games should use %GameID%
And then Xenia games with Xbox 360 needs to support XEX and GOD formats. Iso can but technically "shouldn't" be supported
Xenia has the option to install content into itself and will install as XEX so probably only need to support Xex
Sorry, there is zero chance Im installing anything that is version 13.13. Whats the file size? 666 mb?
🤣
Wheres ETA Prime?
You lack the enthusiasm that ETA Prime brought to the Launchbox update videos. For that reason. It makes it hard to watch.
just go with Emulation Station... NO??? is this to compete???
These videos don’t hit the same without ETA Prime. No offence but this guy sounded like he’d just learned to read
i just thought he recently moved to new jersey
Say PCSX2 5 times fast. Its not the easiest thing in the world. ETAs a busy content creator. This new guy is getting into his groove.
