This is something i wanted to see LaunchBox evolve into or contain a great feature like this!
Love this, LaunchBox just keeps getting better and better, and already implementing this as the main home screen for my big box setup. However, I would like to make a small suggestion. Allow users to set/change the 'stock/non changing' sections of the Game Discovery Center. For example, before this change, I set my 'main home screen' as the 'Platform Categories' filter screen. This of course shrinks down a load of Platforms into a manageable list. But I've also set up a custom Platform Category that is used for 'Utilities'. For example, Internet Browsers, UA-cam TV App, Xbox Accessories App etc. This set up allows me or others in my family to switch from gaming, to quick Internet Search on the TV, or fixing a bad connection on the Xbox Controller. Now that I have set the Game Discovery Center as my home screen, It will show a whole load of Platforms, where the custom 'Utilities' is now lost within them. Now while I can just switch to that filter page to go back to how things were before, I can really see this new Game Discovery Center, as being the defacto main home screen for many BigBox users, like it is on Netfilix etc. I hope you see this, and make that small change. Can't wait for the next big update!
It's possible to theme in your own lists into this Discovery Center which MAY allow for what you're asking. A lot of that greatly depends on how you have all of that set up. If you head over to the forums and make post explaining your setup and what you're attempting to do we may be able to assist you there.
Launchbox should have a Steam Deck version... this feature is very cool, I think it would be even better if it had some kind of AI support, favoring the games more likely to be liked based on the gamer playing habits

The only thing I miss is that even desktop Launchbox had this kind of feature. It's pretty interesting what it offers and sometimes one just doesn't want to open BigBox, just "show me some lists of games, offer me something to play, 'cause I have 30 minutes to play anything but don't know what".
Again, incredible feature, much needed, although we didn't know we needed it.
I have used many frontends up until 2020, I tried Launchbox that year because the portability feature & it was amazing. From that time till now, it became THE best frontend. I have it running on my arcades, PC connected to TVs as consoles & in my handhelds. Honestly, I would say it became an app I would advise any gaming pc to have it.

Awesome! It adds a historical museum type element. Also international hi score competition like Antstream.
The collections by year was something I have been hoping for from day 1. Having lived to see the whole history of cartridge game consoles and the height of the arcade phenomenon this addition has me psyched if the other new features don't have me thrilled enough.
This update is a huge surprise. I've never regreted paying full price having my own personal arcade. But this is a bombshell update that adds a lot to the table and gives it a massive upgrade for fun and entertainment. It's going to make Big Box much more fun to use than what we have already been enjoying.

It would be really neat if the randomly generated sections could be altered by collecting data on the users playtime in games as well as personal star ratings, that way we see more recommendations based on the types of games that we tend to play most.

Are there any future plans to add multiple controller detections? With the prevalence of handhelds now, it would be nice to set a wireless controller as the default option for games. If the wireless controller is not detected then Launchbox could use the buttons on the handheld as the next option. This way there is an easy docked and undocked mode mode for controller support.

Awesome update! Looking forward to trying out the Game Discovery Center. Can one of the options be “Games with Retroachievements” if a user has it configured? I tend to seek out games to try to unlock them from time to time.
RetroAchievements API was still down while we were working on this feature so it wasn't really possible at the time. Now that it's up it'd certainly be an interesting concept. By theming in a playlist you could already potentially add "Has Achievements" list though. Such a list would bring up Steam and GOG games though unless you excluded your PC platforms in the criteria. Take the request to the forums and we should be able to show you how if you're wanting to try and tackle it.
I can't get Launchbox to update, I checked the option is enabled to allow to check for updates on launch and download in background. Any way I can force check for an available update?

Anyone have a solution for Fanart - Background quality getting butchered in the The Game Discovery Center, after you go past the initial "Highly Recommended Games" row/strip?
Looks an awful lot like my theme for Pegasus, gameOS. But good updates, I might give it a shot as my new launcher now.
When I've gone into the GDC I cannot get back to my normal view, back goes into GDC and B button goes into GDC.
I have updated but it seems to freeze once i add our delete games

It's "almost" perfect.
The only thing I think it truly needs is the ability to exclude certain platforms.
Personally having the Arcade section popup so much in here would be very irritating for me.
I'd like to see an option force it to focus on platforms you pick, which in my case would be consoles between NES/SMS and X|S/PS5/Switch.
I have other stuff outside of those for the sake of my archive, but they don't represent my 'playground' so to speak.
Why not make the Discovery Center just another entry in the Platforms list?

Will there be fixes for Emulators not launching?? (Snes9x EX+ 1.5.76 and MD.emu 1.5.76) Launching Process Failed, Most likely because the emulator developer needs to update for more recent versions of android error?? Or Any help around this?? Use to work fine on my Anbernic device. Odin 2 Now no such luck.
Built my Arcade cab back in 2018, it was stable enough to work.big box was also a requirement. This past month I lost all hard drives and had limited roms backed up. I just want to say a HUGE thank you to the Devs and the entire community. It's been really hard to get things started with so much time away. Things are coming back together little by little. I hope to be close to this level of playable content. Your library is more than impressive.

Guys, that's a cool idea, no doubt, but I'm sure you know what the next big thing in LB/BB oughta be... I often look at that little bell icon in the top right corner of the screen that tells me that the 16 pieces of media have been downloaded and installed, yadda yadda, nice, but always the same expected stuff, then I think to myself: how cool would it be if it let me know that X user, Y friend is now online, has sent me a message with a pic attached, has started an online game of Streets of Rage 2 and I need that particular rom to play with him (even better if it downloads it for me from some trusted websites), etc?
I'm talking of course taking LB/BB online.
Think about it, it's the next best and most logical and natural thing to do: borrowing a few pages off the consoles' book! What if LB/BB was the first ever frontend to bring the QoL features of consoles on PC?
I'm not saying it should-or can-happen overnight of course, if it takes 5 months, or years even, so be it, 10 years... so be it, but it has to happen at some point. I'm convinced of it.

The main theme that is shown is just the Big Box Default theme (it was revamped a while ago).

You can't use a playlist or game entry to load the discovery center, but you can bind it to a key.

Yeah thats great and all, but how about actually making the game details, I dont know...ACCURATE? I have thousands of games with wrong release dates, developer/publisher info is a mess..
At this point they prioritize the "flashy" features over the actual useful stuff
I want a lunchbox in VR please.
