This will come in handy when upgrading to the latest MAME batch of games. I always have issues with Double Dragon the arcade game and the Neo Geo version. For some reason launchbox tends to think they are the same game and you end up with misplaced media for both titles.
Not a big deal, but there is a funny Blooper, at 2:28 In Australia we also call them Volkswagen Beetles, the HSV is a V8 Super Sedan, effectively a Pontiac GTO. Pretty funny due to the performance gap between the two.
Any way of using this to help auto rename the rom files themselves and auto update the resulting changes? Another handy feature could be something that could generate list missing roms from a complete collection from the launchbox database.
pretty sure games get added and deleted on the games database daily, so not entirely sure how that would work, or what the relevance of the list would end up being.
@@mgfellow7789 Yeah, that's basically the same issue I've ran into as well trying other tools for looking for missing titles for complete sets in that there's nothing consistent. There's also the other issue of what region roms or for, if they're prototype, or unlicensed, or different revisions. NoIntro seems to be the closest when dealing with roms. Things get much messier when dealing with iso/chd files since afaik crc checks can't accurately be done (at least none that I've found so far).
Tried doing this with my Xbox games. Couldn’t find anything from LaunchBox DB or EmuMovies, even though the LaunchBox DB had every single image I needed for all my Xbox games. Had to manually download every image and assign it manually… that sucked lol
You would need to make sure that each game is associated with a LaunchBox Games Database ID in order for them to find metadata and media files. Once linked, it should show what's available for that game on the Games Database. If you have any questions about how this all works, you can ask over on our community forums: forums.launchbox-app.com/
No not yet. I don’t think they’ll end up adding that. One thing to mention, on the Lb website under downloads->playlist, click the best. They are playlist for every platform that ranks has separate playlist for top games (average of every review of the game -!” Check out his excel sheet there too).
I wish it would change the actual rom name. If the file is misspelled and you identify it and fix it. It will still be incorrectly named the next time you import it into another launchbox or retropie or whatever.

OH! Finally a way to fix all my mame games that are set to hispanic version! Love it!
Excelente video ✌
Can you also audit playlists, or just platforms?
Platforms, but every game inside of a playlist has to be associated with a platform.
Thanks for the guide. There's some very helpful tips here!
Excellent options. 🎉

Is there anywhere in launchbox that will give any idea what you are missing, at that moment, from the launchbox database, say like for the atari 2600?
@@chriswalker3375 I don't believe so. The only auditing stuff I've found for missing roms is stuff like the goodtools and no-intro stuff.
This is great!! Thx
Great, I'm needing this to identify my windows games without gameplay videos...

Any way of adding a Metacritic rating if any from metadata?

I would love to see Launchbox set up emulators and update them like Batocera does. Love the fact it does MAME and Retroarch.

It’s ridiculous that launchbox still checks tge rom name by default instead of the ID, openemu has been boing it for more than 10 years
