  • The past summer I have been taking in so much music from all over the world, it has left me wondering how the location effects music, why is this type of music coming from this part of the world, I share some albums that have painted the picture of not only the atmosphere but the culture as well. Come discuss with me on how location effects the song writer. it'll be fun to hear your thoughts.

I have a CD set of world music, and some of it is unexpected; it's called "World 2004." There's 34 artists from 28 countries, and it's quite diverse. Some of the music isn't surprising, some I wouldn't expect from the country of the artist's origin. And then there's Orquesta de la Luz, a Japanese salsa band (that's right); they don't record anymore as far as I know. Sometimes it's what inspires an artist rather than where they're from. Sigur Ros sounds like they could be from Iceland, perhaps Norway. Another one that surpised me is Ana Popovic, a Serbian blues guitarist; didn't expect that, either. Interesting topic.

Great video - and interesting topic! At 6:06 dude says nonconformity while talking about the music coming out of Iceland. My brain of course immediately went to Bjork who epitomizes noncomformity. Another I think of is, one of my favorites out of England, The Sundays. When it's rainy and dreary outside I'm 100% putting on one of their albums. I stereotypically think it's always rainy and dreary in the England and that had to affect their sound.

Excellent discussion Monie ! The " Berlin Trilogy " of albums by David Bowie Heroes , Low & Lodger are all directly reflective of the dire situation of the city in the late 70's.

Mostly yes it depends on where you live, travel. Events wherever it's people. Animals. Nature. Kids and others and it depends on the morning, afternoon, evening, night and midnight wherever music follows especially singles or albums when you are in the mood great video moniemuse take care and have a blessed Friday great sunny day where I live today
