Rebuilding a totaled 2019 GMC Yukon Denali

- A new build rolls into town today. This is a 2019 GMC Yukon Denali with a low 10,775 miles. It looks like a simple hit and should not be totaled but it was listed as a no start by the auction. I will go through my steps to try and get it running and what to look out for on these and other front end hits. We will jump right into the build after taking a look at it. I need to find out all the parts I will need and there is some work that can be done before we get any parts so I will knock that out as well. Yes, this will be for sale on my website when it is completed and the title is back from the state.

Hi! I'm a body and paint gnome. I'm 86, done this all my life still own and operate here in Wyoming. I'm currently fixing a 2010 Ford Taurus front collision. I enjoy your videos a lot. You do the best job!
You have me saying to myself "In the pile!" while I'm working on my own stuff. I love your sense of humor and videos. Be safe & God Bless.
I have all the guys I work with doing it too. That and “somebody’s been here before” 😂
@@vehcor I do that one my self!
“I win!”
Haha, I do “Somebody’s been here before!” Lol
I do the same thing all the time. Especially the "Someone's been here before!" 😆
2019, 11K Miles, Loaded with all the bells and whistles, .....and it was still totaled out and air bags didn't even deploy. Look forward to seeing what all you can find for this and what you have to buy new.
It probably belonged to someone with money that didn’t want it fixed because “wrecked cars are never the same” 🙄. Insurance companies bend their rules to keep the good paying customers happy.
@John Smith i agree
Whatever profit Scott makes on these rebuilds, he is entitled to every penny. No profit, no Franken-'stang.
Thanks, but buyers always seem to think I should do this for free. lol
really no profits always a waste of money an time
My favorite quote was I'm not in this for my health, you deserve every cent of profit, it's always a challenge to see where you can save a buck
@@vehcor they should be happy to pay its done right
I would normally never buy a vehicle with a salvage title. However, after watching the way you fix them I would definitely buy from you. Unfortunately I live in the Seattle area. You deserve all the money you make. I’m a mechanical engineer and I have to say that you impress me with your knowledge as well as your concern for your customer. The world is definitely a better place with guys like you. Best wishes for the new year!
Rebuilt isn't a factor, who did the rebuild is. This guy does them right...
salvage title vehicles are honest vehicles...clean title vehicles are the real gamble
“In the pile” never disappoints. 😄
That’s an expensive pile! 😂
Scott call it the “ Cha- Ching “ pile!..........👀😏🙂👍💰
I believe the pile needs a cash register sound with each new addition.
Must be an awesome feeling knowing you can tear apart and rebuild any car you want 💪
We need a merch line:
"Somebody's been here before!" shirts.
"In the pile!" stickers.
"Boring Build Friday" mugs.
I just got the Teespring nazis to stop taking down my original shirts. lol
Call Matt and Mere at Bunker Branding. They are UA-camr friendly if you don’t want the hassle of actually dealing with it yourself.
Design of a vehicle backing off a trailer and it says "engage safety screech"
I love this channel. This is the only channel that actually shows how to fix broken or damaged parts on cars.
Your a friggin mechanical surgeon!! I enjoy your straight forward information that is to the point and easy to understand. Along with your dry sense of humor all in all it works for me. Keep em coming, I enjoy your channel.
Thanks for the support!
I have learnt so much from watching your videos. I am restoring a few items and your way of doing things has really helped me. I will keep watching.
The best thing I learned from your videos is how to remove factory spot welds. Before, I bought the spot weld removal bits, now I use masonry drill bits and my die grinder. 😎
Scott I truly admire your skills and knowledge, and love watching your videos.
I appreciate that!
That thing was bent, no wonder they totalled it.
Ahh.... 'The Scream!" I was hoping that was part of the trailering course!
That was BIG points on the final exam!
@@vehcor ... the heartbreak of "micropanic attacks" ... dude, there's medication for that.
I was hoping for it myself.
Your contact is so much better than so many others, only real difference is others goof around which takes away from the real content and your to the point but you do still have fun (Mr. Spotty)
Best channel. Period. I grew up in a shade tree body shop and learned a lot but have learned so much from you Scot. Especially patience. It’s not often that a guy goes the extra mile to do it right. It’s a good way to sleep well. Thanks for taking the time to break things down like you do.
Yukon do it Scott , we have faith in you
😂
Way too valuable...if it loanable sell it.
Always like seeing you rebuilt vehicles I actually own. Awesome video!!
Glad you like them!
I appreciate your videos and your care about every detail. it is such an excellent work , all the good luck
Can't wait to see more on this build, my personal favorite color on these units.
I was sweating there for a second. Thought Mr. Spotty was headed for "the pile"...
It's all part of the job
The stunt work is his favorite part of the job!
@@vehcor You need to give him a 'Mr Bill OH NO!" face and launch him in the pile!
Alllllright allllright! Love these fix/rebuilds
👍🏻
What a great truck! I can't wait to see how it turns out.
One of the benefits of being retired is that I am now able to take on little repair jobs that in the past I had to pay others to do due to time restraints. This week I replaced a broken side view mirror on my 2010 Mitsubishi Endeavor using the skills and knowledge I learned from watching your channel. Knowledge like what tools to use, and where to look for parts, and skills such as how to use tape as a third hand. There were a few little snags, but nothing I couldn’t overcome. I really enjoy your channel and am always anxious for each new episode you post. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for putting out such great videos.
I might not be the best to learn the proper tool uses from. lol Good to hear the videos helped! Good luck on future projects.
I really appreciate your videos, and your attention to detail. You are a true craftsman.
I'm curious if you ever water-test the doors after you refit them to check for leaks?
Best channel I found in 2020! Liked it before even watching it! 🤪
Thanks for the support.
I just started watching these videos great job. I have a question 2015 Chevy Cruze takes forever to get heat in the morning any help would appreciate it ty
@@dancurrier6421 my Cruze did that, ended up being about 1/2 gallon low on dex-cool even though the expansion tank said it was full, kept pouring it in it kept taking it!! Or thermostat
This is one of the best suvs I’ve seen you do 👌🏻 quality over quantity but let’s hope theres a repeat on these 😂👌🏻 love it thanks again!
Great video as usual. Nice project to rebuild for someone who knows what they are doing. Thanks
Scott - another great video. Really appreciate when you go through section by section disassembly and then reassembly - very helpful.
Thank you, glad it helps!
Who are the 13 people who thumbs down this? This is great content! I am also a rebuilder in Illinois. Hoping one day to run into you at my local copart.
Never a boring Friday in your shop. I am amazed at your instinct adjusting those door hinges. That going to be a beautiful vehicle when done. Thanks for a bright spot in the late afternoon 👏🏻
Thanks for the support. You learn how to adjust things by trial and error. I have had plenty of time to learn from all the errors. lol
You’re a master for sure.
Great find. Love how you handled those doors
@vehcor I've been learning a LOT from you since I first subbed to you a few weeks ago -- thank you :D
Nice trick with at winch to get the belts on.
Glad to have you with us and glad to hear I can share some of what I have learned over the years.
Ohhhhhhh...I am thrilled for this one!!!
Me too. Trucks are my favorite!
Nice video. Like how you working in very calm and smily way. Great!
i love your vids!!!! this is what every field service engineer needs!!!
Beautiful truck I can't wait until you finish to see how much you want for it. I'm interested in buying it. I look forward to your videos
It will be listed when the title is back and it is ready to sell. This may not be the last one, theses are nice.

"Playdohnium Hinges". that's quality!
It must be the same thing they make HF jack stands out of. lol
Classic GM. Shitty door hinges for years.
@@osrr6422 you’re right buddy
Same factory that makes chinesium 😂
@@osrr6422 easy to fix.
I love new builds...because we get to hear Scott scream when he backs off the trailer...but I think the afternoon crew needs to make a cameo appearance as she tends to scream better than you🤣
The little one isn't coming back, sorry.
I've been waiting all day for your video. Thank you for making Fridays more interesting.
Glad you like them!
Always impressed with you taking off those big, fully assembled, gm doors, couldn’t even take a Camry door off by myself today.
You kind of learn how to handle them.
Playdoniam .that’s a new word I’ll add to my vocabulary when talking about car body repair.great video as always.looks like your back is doing better.glad to see.great video 😎😎😎👍👍👍
Some people think I’m making it up, then they try to straighten one of those hinges. 😂
Playdough-neum.......structural AND delicious!
People are going to looking at you funny if you start chewing on GM door hinges. 😂
I always look forward to your videos. This is one vehicle I would LOVE to have.
Always interesting the things you do to repair these cars, and learning new stuff, greetings from Belgium
Glad you enjoy it!
that scream when you unload it, cracks me up everytime lol
That was an "E" ticket ride at Dizzylandworld.
Me too, always reminds me of the silver Yukon where it all started.
Been waiting for you!
I’m here! Thanks for waiting!
Scott went old school on his frame rack! We used to use come along to pull. Like this method better best UA-cam channel the man has a lot of skill and knowledge
The trailer dismount gets me every time!
I was right! I had a feeling you were going to do a GM vehicle. Great video!
What gave it away... the GMC emblem in the Explorer console or the instagram posts? 😂
@@vehcor I actually didn't watch the last video yet bc of school so I'm catching up now!
Welcome to "somebody's been in here Friday....."
I don’t think I will get to say that on something this new but you never know...
@@vehcor there's no escape from Bondo and duct tape...
Keep up the great work. Love watching your videos.😎🤝
You have great pointers I've picked up from watching you.
Scott, great video! We Pontiac fans are still waiting for the finale to your personal Grand Am series. Since it is pretty much winter now, does it meet your expectations?👍
Hello from Phoenix Arizona!🔥
I need a 2020 one!!
Maybe next time.
Thank God your new video came up on my notifications instead of another election lawsuit video! Had to watch it right away. I know you take pride in your work, Scott...and thank you for teaching us a little about how these things come apart and go back together. Have a great weekend and we will look forward to the next one!
Like to watch all your rebuilding videos. You make it look too easy. You seem to have a 6th fence on the right size tool😀. I would buy a rebuild from you because you make it better than new! Nice work, keep it coming thanks!
Do you really think I’m just going to hit watch the second I see you’ve uploaded a new video? You’re goddamn right I am.
You can actually vent the 1234 just fine. Thats whole point of it. If any leaks, no harm to the ozone. Until they patent a new one
It is only harmful when someone needs to make some more money. lol
The old R-12 was legitimately terrible for the environment and R-134a isn’t that great either. But if I were working on a vehicle like this with 1234yf, I’d still want to have a pro with the right equipment just because the flammability. When it burns, it creates fluorine gas which means instant death for anyone nearby even though the earth will be fine
Good point on the broken plastic potentially going down the TB into the valves. Never thought of that.
Whoa...mobile frame machine! Awesome invention Scott!
If anyone can fix it, I know Yukon.
@Abel Harbour Oops, he said that if anyone asks about the Mustang, he'll put it back further ...., but her's hoping.
I will certainly try!
You can see yourself out after that "joke"
@Abel Harbour In reality, he's put the Mustang aside for now so that he can work on stuff that makes money, so that he can spend the money on the Mustang to make it great. We just have to wait patiently and the day will come.
@Abel Harbour But in any case, a great repairer who does things right and it's always interesting to see what he's repairing and how he does it, while we wait patiently to see more progress on the Mustang, which will be done right, not like some other bodgey channel did their Mustang, which I won't name "for legal reasons". Vehcor videos are the best part of Saturday morning here in Australia. Oh, if you want to see something bodgey, have a look at SalvagemasterV's channel. He's trying to fix someone else's bodgey repair on a Toyota Highlander.
Say it with me...'R1234 Saves Lives'...ya right! It just costs 2-3 times as much and probably only 1 out of 10 AC shops will ever purchase that expensive equipment.
I still remember when we had to switch to R134a and the polar ice caps would be melted by 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015.... Then we had climate change since people stopped buying the fear they were selling.
If you’re interested, I can explain why recovering r134a is important, and global warming is really a thing.
It’s easy to dismiss, but like you are an expert in what you do there are countless very smart people who are experts in this topic and they all agree there is a problem and we can all do our part.
Hi its nice to see you do the work , look so easy.but You are doing this for longtime so you have experince thats the secret way its look so easy, you have eye for it too.
Your comment is fun too.👌

My wife and three kids are gone overnight. House to myself for first time in a year. Here I am watching Vehcor on my TV.
Oh my God Christine all over again!
Considering the money these bring in, I’m surprised that was considered a total loss.
insurance companies are dumb. my wife wrecked our Jetta a few years back (similar magnitude of damage shown here), and they did not total the car. the insurance repairs were over 13k, and i sold the car a few months later for about 11k.
That's called insurance fraud. All they do is take it to their buddy who does insurance adjustments and they total it for them.
@@g-wolf9445 not true all the time, my wife work as a claims adjuster and the company she works for does their own vehicle inspections and doesn't let the body shops do them. So they decide if they are going to fix it or total the vehicle. What I have noticed is that they tend total cars with low resell value and cars with high resell they fix them which is crazy.
@@906lane I guess it does depend on the insurance company the vehicle is insured by. There are key components that used to be almost an automatic for a total like a bent frame or damaged drive axle. I guess it does come down to overall resale value like you said.
Hey man really enjoy watching your vids great content with great humor and sarcasm !!
Wow! This is a smart guy ✊ A Good honest mechanic hard to find these days
You & your builds man XD

Maybe one day when I have my own shop, if I have my own shop I should say. Thanks for watching and happy holidays!
Watching the fenders pull away from the door when it was on the frame machine was to satisfying
See all the extra room between the engine and cooling fans was nice too. 😂
Is playdoughium similar to chineseium? At least they're not made of unubtanium!
Very similar but weaker. lol Ford seems to use a lot of that Unubtanium
Similar to Mexiconium - a semiprecious vehicular mineral.
did you ever get the lock box combo
Ha ha, you just reminded me of the ending of the last video👍
