Chicagoan here. I live in Rogers Park and the average 2 bedroom is about $1,400. Live downtown and pay downtown prices. This is such an incredible city and my neighborhood is ranked on of the best in the country as far as affordability, culture, diversity and amenities.
@@AJ.911 actually pretty safe! The crime rate is lower then in many parts of the city. I live right on the lakefront and I walk to work at night with no issues.
Glad to see you do one on expenses. I was acritical of a previous video of yours that didn't really seem to point out how expensive it is. This is a good imformative video. This will be helpful for the rich clientele that needs your service!
Oh yeah, I came from Dallas and when you consider the fact that housing in many areas is the same price per sqft than Chicago, it becomes a nobrainer as to which city has better value!
I agree for the most part! I'm from Dallas where the summers are so incredibly muggy that it feels like you're walking in a steam room. I don't find chicago's summers like that at all, but some people here still complain. Who knows!
I'm considering moving to Chicago. I was considering NYC until I saw a studio apartment for $4,000. I know that's not necessarily the norm, but I was caught completely off guard. I am also considering Washington, D.C. Metro. I'm in the tech industry. Would I have a shot in Chicago?
I'm a new subscriber, and loved your video. I currently live in WA, but a bit of family history (on my father's side) linking me to the Chicago area. My father was born in Aurora. I've only been to Chicago twice :( The 1st in in 1975 when i got to visit the U-505 :D
Hey thanks for reaching out, Yeah - depending on where you came from there are many many good jobs here. If you were coming from say NYC, where your salary was 180k, well - I think Chicago would be in the 120k range. We have a significantly lower cost of living though
Cheapest big city in the US unless you count the St Louis MSA as St Louis. Cheaper than Colorado Springs now. Denver is so bad now you pay $70 for 1/10 of what the Shed Aquarium is. That is a pretty good example of price gouging in CO. Even with the tax IL is cheap.
@@alsmith5526 Not in CO. Large price increases were going on when the rest of the country was at 2% inflation here. A lot of it WAS rent driven. You cannot build less homes in 10 years than pre-2008 in 5, watch rents tripple while inflation is a steady 2%, and then not expect a 100% price increase. Meanwhile, corporations here have charged a premium since about 2014 like the state is a damn resort. It was as bad under Trump as Biden where I am. Literally watched my food bill climb from $60 to $120 between 2013 and 2019 for the same basket of goods.

Haha, well thank you Han! I wanted to make this video because I wish it was available for me before I moved here. Appreciate your comment!
I’d put a comfortable salary for living in Chicago more in the $100K range. Great info in the vid!
Hey I appreciate the kind words!
This was so helpful- thank you!
You’re very welcome! Thanks for checking out the channel
Great Video!
Thanks for the tips.
Glad to be of help!
Anyone know how the wrigley field ticket raffle works? Or where I can find more information?
Hey Nadia, I reached out to the Cubs ticketing office and unfortunately it looks like they discontinued the raffle as of 1/31/23.
@@AndySellsChicago thanks for doing that and letting me know! ❤️
friends from california came to visit and were surprised how cheaper the housing market is here in chicago compared to california lol

I'm an Independent Latino. 5:40 Science of Industry in Hyde Park hope-on the EL Train or drive your car, there plenty of free parking.
Hyde park is super underrated
I live in Colorado right now looking to transition to Chicago by 2024. Denver is getting so expensive right now 😩
That's insane to me, I had no idea Denver was getting so expensive!
@@AndySellsChicago it already was/is. been > 20% of chicago since 2016. sitting at 137% of the national average right now.
Chicago cost more doe
What's the weather like there
ohhh, its absolutely the best. Last week it was a nice 75 degrees, got a chance to see the A&W show

Sucks. November through April is usually terrible.

Absolutely, we’ve got a very strong job economy in that job sector.
No, I’m not thinking about that at all.
Very informative
Thank you ML! I tried to make a video that I wish I had before I moved here. Appreciate you!

haha yeah, sometimes I'll watch this video to relish the good ole days
These prices are way,way,OFF...
Would love for you to elaborate, am I too high? or too low?
too low i think. in other channel, thriving salary starts at $85,000/year

Very true, I think for the amenities and opportunities, chicago really does offer so much
It isn't price gouging. This is because of a bad President.

It is! I was incredibly surprised to hear that Colorado is quickly becoming VERY expensive. Maybe I'm out of the loop there
Very few people can afford to live in Chicago for long .
Hey Harold! I appreciate the comment, I might disagree on that point, but that might be because I always shoot to live below my means
You tell us to grab a slice yet you don't provide us with the pizza... Smh
Anything anywhere starts@ $2000.period..why are you making these untrue statements??
That's not true, I just helped someone signed a really nice place on the Near North side for $1350
You can buy a house for $250,000
Not true it’s not necessary to pay $2000 / month
BS on 50k that’s bogus, you need at least 100k to live comfortably. Particularly with those insane state taxes and city tax on every purchase.
I make about 50k! And I live very comfortably, but I guess maybe you're living a more lavish lifestyle than my own

It’s a great city. Been living here all my life. Great in the summer on the lake where I dock my yacht and houses don’t cost 1 million.
