- 12 Seymour Johnson F-15E Strike Eagles of 335th Fighter Squadron depart from RAF Lakenheath. The F-15E's have the tail markings of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Goldsboro, North Carolina and is home the 4th Fighter Wing. The base is named for U.S. Navy Lt. Seymour A. Johnson, a test pilot from Goldsboro who died in an F4F Wildcat crash near Norbeck, Maryland, on March 5, 1941.
The 335th Fighter Squadron are one of four Fighter Squadrons based at SJ AFB and are nicknamed the "Chiefs".The squadron have a well known reputation for combat and are known as the "World's Leading MiG Killers" for destroying 218.5 MiGs in aerial combat. On 10 November 1950 they took their Sabres to Korea as the 335th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron of the Fifth Air Force. By the end of the Korean War, the 335th led all squadrons with 218.5 kills (for around forty losses) and had become a part of the "MiG Killer" legend with 12 aces.
The first F-15E (serial number 89-0487) in the thumbnail and the first to depart, is known as "America's Aircraft" and has the most hours of any F-15 model (C, D, E). This F-15E has 1 air to air kill and has the only air-to-air kill by F-15Es.

A great sight an F15 with different tail markings. F15s just always make a amazing sight on Lakenheath's runway even if the Aircraft are bidding farewell for now. Thanks for visiting the UK. See you again.. ❤

Thank you again Nikos, and Ted Coningsby for bringing us this..I just love ❤️ LN OOH YEAH 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Oii oiii Ian 🤙🏼
What a fantastic Friday that was up at LN. Loads of F-35A quick climbs, the SJ’s departing and then the overhead sight of them with the KC-135. Absolutely awesome sights and sounds 🤙🏻👊🏻🔥
Oii oiii Rich 🤙🏼 Was a great day ooohhh yeah
Ah, the fweeps - love that sound! Nice to have visitors at the base, but with 218.5 known destroyed MIGs, I'm glad they're friendly! 218.5, by the way? 🤔
Oii Oii Ellesee 🤙🏼 yes there is such thing as half a kill. For example two aircraft could have made a kill on a single aircraft so they divide it as 0.5
Marvellous and great afterburners frim the multiple F-15E Strike Eagles launches 😊
Gteat foitahe too !! 🤩
Thank you @ted and Nikos for this stream it is just awesome
Oohhh yeah 🤙🏼

Hi ted I am one of pilots for the chinook helicopter. It’s nice to see external view of my machine
Also, what radio do you use to hear the traffic for us
When I was stationed at Camp Lejeune there was a sign at MCAS New River that read “ Pardon our noise, it’s the sound of Freedom “ ! 😝 I also use to pass one around SJAFB somewhere...on the highway, or overpass, somewhere. So it’s good to hear people that get excited about it instead of whining about something their military is doing! It’s always nice to see people at overseas bases appreciate what the military does. A lot of times we used to worry ( think about more-so ) about how the locals felt about us being there. So many here in the US, the way they’re being raised and taught today, they act like they don’t have a patriotic bone in their bodies! The fact that it’s all of us who keep them safe is lost on them! Thanks
We are honoured, proud and love you here. And that’s just the present, we teach the importance of the USAAF that were in the UK since WW2 and the sacrifices they made for the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom today. We are so proud when the airmen come to meet us civilian side of the fence, they express their thanks for what our channel does and at the same time gives us a chance to say personally a big thank you for what they do 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Don’t waste your thoughts on the few noisy confused individuals that don’t appreciate the military. Your supporters are at work and too busy raising families but we appreciate all of you.

Look heavy with tanks. Flying home?
heading where? home or……?
On holiday
Well, I'm guessing they're not holidaying on the French Riviera. Lol
Just wondering - - if they are going back across the "pond," why don't all the jets have centerline tanks? A couple did, but most did not. Still, cool video!
You’ve sort of answered it in some ways, literally there will be mixed configurations, some do, some don’t. Some have 2 some have 3 etc.
@@TedConingsby It just seemed strange to me. Back in the 80's when Seymour Johnson had F-4E's, we would depoy to Ramstein AB, GE for Crested Cap every fall. ALL our jets had three tanks to make that haul across the pond. Even then, they still needed to inflight refuel. I would think going with just two tanks would necessitate more inflight refueling. Just saying.
Do these SEs have the 220 or 229 engines?
I think most of them are 229s
They have 220 engines
@@TedConingsbytail numbers 90-0233 and up have -229 engines. All previous tail numbers have 220 engines
Is there normally any activity on a bank holiday at lakenheath? Or is it pot luck? Tia
Pot luck for all military bases and areas
Stunningly fweeptastic
Oohh yeah
