To a landing pilot it's not a crowded flight deck. He has the same landing space that he would have if the carrier has NO planes on it. For the deck crew who has to spot the landing aircraft to a parking spot somewhere, the deck IS pretty damned crowded. A salute to ALL you Naval Aviation people, whether you're airborne or ground-based crew.
My father was a Naval Aviator in Korea and Vietnam. Flew a Skyraider off the “Conny” and the Princeston. I went the other direction and after college became a Navy EOD diver. We constantly got into arguments about who had more fun! 🫡 dad. Miss ya.

American soldiers and military or second to none in this world. These pilots are so highly proficiently train. It’s sickening the precise landings the dedication to their job. These are Americans true heroes.
I agree. Very confident. Some people think that is being cocky but it is not. When you fly on the edge, you had better know what you are doing. Very few do overs.
Every time I watch these pilots -- I've lost count -- it blows my mind. I have no idea what it takes, but I'm sure as hell blessed that they're doing it.
The Ranger was not the first to carry aircraft. The Langley, CV 1, was. The Lexington, CV 2 and the Saratoga CV 3 both carried aircraft and fought in the Pacific. The Ranger was CV 4 and stayed in the Atlantic. It was deemed to small and slow

The F/A 18 has auto-pilot landing. It's so precise, they had to squelch it, or the tailhook would wear a hole in the flight deck, because it would land in the exact same spot, every time. Pilots tend to turn it off, so they can get the thrill of landing. Also, when they are on the cat, they have to show the flight deck their hands. The jet nav system is in control until the bird gets a short distance off the flight deck. If pilot doesn't take controls, the plane will circle the carrier, and until it is activated to land again. They are NOTHING like the F-14. F-14 was 100% pilot operated. The F/A 18 is a manned drone...all it is.
The first purpose built carrier keel to be laid was British, though the Japanese were the first to launch a carrier. Also the invention of the steam catapult and angled flight deck were British. The yanks were playing catch-up.
Are you bragging or bashing ? One thing you didn't mention is that c.c. mitchell copied the steam catapult system the Germans used to launch their V1 missiles !
Get some boys! number one Thanks for your protection. I don't know 73 i know CVN 69 i youngest of 4 in my family oldest bro was Boatsenmate on Dwight D. All I know is those jets/choppers and Aircraft carries are "KICK ASS" hang on for a little longer u'll have a Commander in Chief who knows how to wield American Power. God Bless America!
How hard is it to have someone read what we (viewers) must read. Instead of enjoying film. I have to pause every time the line changes. And if that is not enough, it is hard to read. Fix your weak link. Please? and thank you. PTL
Once launched, he gone. Up into the God knows where, all that is left now is a safeful landing return. Where did you go and what did you see? Heck if I know.

How many times a day do pilots / aircraft get worked during an average day. And what do pilots do when they are not flying when on the boat. I cant imagine they sit around. Are they always practicing. I like to think they are always buzzing around the skies doing stuff. Same as the ground based aviators.
I admire the Yanks and very pleased they’re our allies, but chaps please remember we Brits invented America, Internet, discovered DNA , and a myriad of other jolly useful things. Have a nice day.
Thank you everyone serving in the military, we appreciate your sacrifice 🙏
And I thank you 🙏, 197th infantry brigade

What's an EOD?
Piece of cake in calm seas during the day. When the wind is howling and the deck is rolling at night, it is an entirely different story.
That’s when these ding bats go land on a land based runway with no cross wind

It's awesome to see our young men and women at work! I am retired USAF, and I am so very proud of our troops!

I no these pilots are elite but to see them landing on carrier is amazing

That is a skilled US Naval Aviator. GO NAVY!! plankowner CVN-71.
Looks like the pilot at 1:40 graduated from the Navy Fighter Weapon School, aka TopGun. The best of the best.

The flight deck is always crowded? Except during fleet Carrier Quals
So awesome to see. Thank you for serving.
Fantástico o video.
Parabéns
Tolles Video, sehr mutige Piloten. Grüße aus Germany

Day and life of people that take care of the country , kudos them ! Most will get sick just being on the boat !
Thanks to see the pilots and the crews of this chip
Deck might be crowded but the landing area isn't. Unless it it then it's a foul deck. But landing on the carrier is in the T&c

😂@@Nerval-kg9smyet you bought our Harrier vto planes, in fact when we retired our Harriers "you" bought them from us.
I appreciate a person being proud of their country. I am also proud of mine. Glad the British are still on the same team. Be well.

With an abundance of super great natural sound, why mix in annoying music?
Idiots always need nerve grating crap music thrown in.
One of those F-18's had the markings of the F-14 squadron "Jolly Roger".
please do not speed up the video to make it look cooler. we want to see what it looks like for real. thanks for vid, very cool overall.
The first aircraft carrier was HMS Argus in 1918. The British invented the aircraft carrier in WW1
It’s funny that the call sign of Commander Bookey is “Who?” There must be quite a story behind that! 😀😀
God bless the United States Navy. 🇺🇸🇺🇸

I suppose the snagging wire needs to be a specific height from the ground to avoid the risk of MAAS snagging the wheels rather than the hook?
Wow the Jolly Rogers 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Flying Pipers and Cessnas in years past, these guys have big brass gonads and guts of iron…..don’t think I could do what they do on carrier.

My hands were sweating watching them land lol
ลงจอดบนเรือมันยากมาก นักบินสุดยอดมากๆ
Now let's see how good they are at night with a pitching and rolling deck! My guess there is a lot of aborts!
I read that among 4 arresting wires, the pilots shoot for the 3rd wire. And that pilot caught the 3rd wire.

music too loud
#2 cat is most common anymore.
why do you have written explanations? You can't watch the video well having to read.
As much as I like having some things explained to the public isn't there some little points here that the US would not like their enemies to know?
nothing classified here. we have people who watch for that kinda stuff

I'm not a pilot, but it's probably easier to land an $80 million dollar jet than an $80 dollar jet.
👍👍
3:47 oh God. I would shit in my pants .... This little nutshell should I land ... 🥴
Can we recycle the empty bullet casing so we can prevent pollution in the oceans please...thank you ❤❤❤
