Currents and Invent are my 2 favorite with Invent being #1. No one will ever top Invent for me personally but Currents is just below them. Invent just evokes and hits those perfect feels for me. Perfect blend of heavy and melodic.
Ima be honest, i was expecting currents to be album of the year by a landslide for me, but this has left me mind blown and im not sure currents will even compete💀
I feel like Invent, Animate (at least on this album) and Silent Planet lean into post-hardcore territory a lot and that's why I enjoy it so much more than most other metalcore.
It was pretty obvious this album would be insane, no surprise. Been spinning it since release, it's gonna be top 10 of 2023's releases easily. Based on the two songs they teased before release, it's just obivous it would be nothing but bangers
My only weird thought about this album is the very dampened vocals, lots of wet reverb on some of the cleans but that doesnt take away anything, just a bit confusing on where and why that choice came about to drown them in the reverb. Anyways the whole album is 10/10, perfection, im not sure i can say currents will compete😬
These guys just can't miss. To say that I'm blown away by this album would be an understatement. Imho metalcore has suffered from lack of variety for quite a few years, it's good to hear something this refined and well-composed. These guys really have all it takes to reignite the genre!
This shit floored me when I heard it for the first time. This album made invent animate one of my favourite bands instantly. I liked Greyview, but that’s just it. I liked it. It didn’t hit me in a way that bands I consider to be my “favourites” usually do. I like their older stuff well enough too, but I just love Marcus so much that their older stuff to me is just missing that umph. But this album is another beast entirely. Instant top 5 of all time for me.
I hate being "that guy"... but musically this is perfect while vocally it just really detracts from the listenability for me (the guy can sing fine, but it's the pop punky nasal, teenage angst inflections and gnash gnash screamo, over-bearingly present production). I hope like how Reflections and Distant also stick out an instrumental mix of their albums, these guys might consider doing something similar.
Okay, so I’m a currents Stan. And I’m seriously worried this album will take my aoty over the death we seek. This was astonishingly good.

What are you worried about it? just embrace both, man. It's music, it's art.

The Death We Seek isn't even out yet?
@@pooty195 hahaha I think he's automatically assuming it's going to be great
Periphery: Djent is not a genre.
Invent Animate: How about Thall?
This album left me speechless
I wish this album was longer than Greyview 😭😭😭😭

@@ThatsAGoodB0y i feel bad for any metalcore band that has to put out an album after this. This is a masterpiece.
@@ThatsAGoodB0y what do you think now? i’m still with invent
False Meridian might be my track of the year honestly. The bends thrown into the riffs were so unique compared to how most bands use them nowadays
As a BIG Thall fan, i'm fucking PLEASED !! Insane album i'm just blown away
I feel like Invent, Animate (at least on this album) and Silent Planet lean into post-hardcore territory a lot and that's why I enjoy it so much more than most other metalcore.
i do not see any part of ph here
My top 2 fav bands right there
void surfacing is lit
Perfect album, man. So heavy both emotionally and musically. Absolute masterpiece.
Guitar work always on top with these guuys man...
my fav track of all is emberglow
Definitely one of mine. My most played song of last year was The Hellfire Club by Thornhill and Emberglow gives me those vibes.
An absolutely phenomenal album. One of the best metalcore albums I've heard in recent memory, and with each listen It's only getting better.
I don't know why I was surprised at this album! Every album they put out I love, but this one is exceptional.

Since the day or dropped I've probably played it close to a hundred times already it's definitely 1 atm but that may change
False meridian is my favorite song on the album after the first listen through
fck i cant stop listening to this ALBUM every single day!
i'm with you in that take about metalcore, you should check out above, below.
btw, this is one of the best fucking metalcore albums i have heard
“It’s that thall influence man” lol you said that when they were reusing a breakdown from their first album on labyrinthine
Theres a whole new mix for shade astray on the album man, You gotta check it out on the album again. It sounds so much better!!!
TIED WITH PERIPHERY, BOTH 20/10 albums is crazy bro 😭😭
Periphery is absolute mid compared to this.
Yeah I agree, the periphery album was a fun listen but nothing stood out to me. I,A is a much more interesting album imo
@@geraltoftexas7631 idk, I think I slighly preferred periphery. Both great tho
@@geraltoftexas7631 you’re trippin, but hey it’s your opinion
Metalcore is fucking saturated as shit, as least periphery is innovating
yep. it good

A true try not to cry challenge
Saw them last week with beartooth. Was an awesome show.
2023 (Progressive) Metalcore albums go crazy:
- Invent Animate ☑
- Bury Tomorrow ☑
- Currents ⬜(05.05.)
- Sleep Token ⬜(29.05.)
- Alleviate ⬜(TBA)
I don't think you dislike metalcore, you just don't like bad bands trying to make metalcore 🤣
Easily album of the year unless The Contortionist makes Language 2 typa record
I wish I could get past the screams. His cleans are pretty great, but the go to "mid" scream is just not it for me. 😢
Hope you can one day. I love it.

Its a metalcore masterpiece.
That guitar lick at 0:52 hits so hard for me. Thumpy yet subtle
Fr it’s sick
im happy this is a contender for you, amazing album fr

Also, shade astray still hits me on an emotional level and I don't know why. It's damn good. . ❤️
They mixed it differently for the album, its different than the single. Maybe thats why it feels fresher. Dope song.

Hey, you put shade astray as shade ashtray in the timestamps. 😂. This whole album is fire so you do need to put them ashes somewhere. 🤣.
I am in the minority here but reverie is my favorite track on the album next to false meridian easily
28:27 hi
“Animate as Leaders “😆 that made me laugh. You’re funny man
have you checked out their Waves EP? so nasty!
Mate u gotta react to currents - let me leave ... That shit was mind-blowing to me .... Introduced me to the entire genre...
Doing the full album reaction on stream tomorrow. Will upload the vod to the channel after
