Thanks for mentioning the shadow, it kinda gets forgotten at times because it hasn’t been built/produced in 25+ years. My father is the original designer & owner of shadow boats. He designed & produced 4 models while he owned the company, a 20ft tunnel hull bass boat, 20ft tunnel hull ski boat, & a 18 & 19ft V bottom bass boat. He sold the company in the late 80’s & has regretted it ever since.
Wow that's some great info Jay! We'd like to know more. If ya don't mind and get some time shoot us over some other facts and pictures if ya got any to speedmoneynobrakes@gmail.com. Thanks
I can do that. Give me a few days to get some pictures and stuff together and I’ll send you the entire history of shadow boats and how it got started.
I worked at the shadow factory when i was teenager in 1990 in before they shut the plant down
The marina I worked for in the 80s was a shadow dealer, as well as hydra stream, stratos, and Cajun. Cajun made a shadow copy, 20 ft tunnel v.. we had a shadow running low 80s with a stock Suzuki 150 super six.. good times. I miss shadow boats... 👍🏻🇺🇸. Your father is responsible for some good fast memories...
My dad still has the 1st Shadow, Jay produced. Still runs. My brother now has it. By the way I would move the Shadow before the Stroker just my thoughts.
The top 5 are all East Tennessee made. The XB21 with 300R will run mid 100s. The XB2002 currently holds the APBA Bass boat record. Good video guys!
Love this stuff Andy. Great content.
Much appreciated Kirk!
Great list I have been over 100 in an Allison and multiple Strokers. I have owned Allison and Bullet both great boats and people.
I’ve fished out of the fastest 2 and have a friend with a Stroker. Been on the Great Lakes in an Allison, great in big water! We never went 100. Most times we’d cruise around in the Allison 60 mph at 3800 rpm, got great fuel mileage.
Great video as always.
On my second Allison XB 2002. Best build quality of all time! They invented the pad V! No bass boat is what it is without Allison’s inventions! Gambler was originally from Lake County Florida. They’ve been around since the 80’s… Allison is the standard
Who's do y'all got at number 1? We know those Bullet guys are gonna have something to say about it
Read my recent reply
You pretty much nailed it Andy. I am a Skeeter guy 😂😂 I can have a soft drink in one hand and a sandwich in the other going wide open 😂😂
Awesome content as always! Any luck with a video on Bass Cat Caracal review?
Good list, Love my Blazer
Good to see Norris Craft on the list. Many have forgotten those.
I have an old Norris Craft from the 50s.
It had a Merc Mark 58 w/old style fuel tank. It has a brass 2 blade prop if I haven't given my buddy the engine
No trailer anymore. Boat needs restoration, but it's free .
BTW: The newer Norris Crafts are maybe the prettiest boats out there...If I hadn't had a stroke (can't drive a boat anymore) I'd be hard pressed to not trade my Bullet 20XD for an Allison and buy a Norris Craft instead.
My boat is a 1991 Shadow 200 VT with 225 Mercury Love it.
Lights on. I like seeing what’s in the shop!!!!
We've had two A's and been to the factory twice. You would be hard-pressed to find nicer folks. Darris, Nancy and Bill are the finest. The entire team is top-notch and are very proud of the limited number of boats they produce. Allison rocks.
Agreed with your list!!
The strokers and bullets pretty well run hand and hand. I’ve seen both run around mid 90’s with 250’s. Both definitely run well
I have a 2016 BassCat Puma/250 SHO, it's an easy 75 mph and can touch 80 with a good driver, which I'm not anymore. One of the guys that works for me has a Gambler 2100/250 XB. That thing is a rocket, fastest bass boat I have ever been in.
Love my Bass Cat it’s #10 but #1 for tournament fishing capabilities and speed combined..
Had an older Bullet was a great boat quick as well…. Enjoy these videos….
I’m gonna have to say an Allison. I think you guys used to be in my dads building over on Island street back in the 90’s. I don’t remember what it was but I still talk to this day about this boat I saw there with twin mercs on the back and it was the coolest thing I ever saw as a kid. Love the vids, but lights on. You ain’t that scary looking.
Sad that rocket bass boats didn’t make the list. When I was young in south Louisiana they were hanging with bullets. Most were running hopped up pro v 200s or merc 2.5 tricked out motors. Good ole 2 stroke days.
True! I'm in louisiana and everyone I've seen or talked to ppl about run mid 90s. But I'm a gambler fan all the way but those rockets will eat up a gambler and I've seen them eat bullets up.
I really like how you compare all boat models, especially there companies and how they will talk to you and treat you like a person. I leave the lights on, love whe you rip onthe guys. Time for me to buy a Jat and hoody.
Don't sleep on those Norris Crafts or Shadows.
They were giving Allison a run for their money back in the early 90's
I owned 2 Norris Crafts, very fast!
@@TeamMarineServicenot really. I've had a few 80's-90's xb2002's that run 100-108 in 800ft. We've won races against tunnels and hydros the day after fishing bass tournaments. I have a few videos on my channel. Allisons are the quickest, fastest, and best built boats by far.
Cool video Andy love to go fast Bullet bad ass
Review those laser bass boat’s please
Tennesspeed! So many of these go fast boats are built here. A good friend of ours had a shadow way back in the day. 200 Mariner, 80s.. all day. Pretty sure you could see through the glass though haha.
One of my friends has a older 90's Gambler with a 225 pro max that's set up correctly Andy, and I wanna say he can get that baby singing down the river in the low 90's.
Good list. Right on as usual......one forgotten boat that would have made the list was the 90s era procraft/Astro model that was either an Allison splash or designed by Darris Allison I forget. It would fly with a 2.5 liter merc promax. Anyone remember them?
i have a 07 210 sp full tourney load with 3 ppl in summer you’re blowing past skeeters, tritons, nitro, the bigger basscats hell even passed a bullet one time(he was definitely not trying in the slightest bit)
Almost thought you was going to forget about Gambler! I knew it had to make the list! My 1989 183gt with a Yamaha 150 would do 77mph with me and a tournament load!
What kind of rpms and what propeller were you running on that GT183
Born, raised, and living in E.TN. my whole life, so I can speak on this. The Allison and Norris Craft are also "next level " in build quality, etc. Both have been building boats since the 50s, and Allison holds like 90 something patents for boat building firsts. Things that are standard today for the whole industry. Also more speed records than every other builder COMBINED. Lastly, these people are top notch. Will find no better. Mack Crumley Jr. at N.C., who inherited the company his dad founded, is one hell of a hard worker, and all around great guy. ✌️💪💯🔥 BTW: my family owned a badass Norris Craft.
Norriscraft still around?
Yep.
Last time I was this early ended up with a kid 9 months later... nitro better be #1
Well. That was short lived.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!
😂
Good Job. That was a fun video. But it was fun back in the 1980's when we could brag how fast we were going, but we were way off on our speed. GPS screwed that up for those bullsh%tters.
Born an raised in middle tenn..been in fast bass boats for 50yrs..lots of boat racing on tims ford.. pretty good list
Venture boats were pretty bad
ass..its all about weight
An early model Triton was a bad MoFo. I’ve been in a few that would run high 80’s and I know there’s faster out there. I think it deserves a spot on the list instead of that stratos since there were so few of them made.
I’d replace the 650 Blazer with the 202 blazer .. these were splashes of Bullets and would run 90’s with a pro max .. also subtract the bass cat and add the Legend Dominator 202.. ( not the legend of alpha etc) this was a boat again splashed from a bullet that was made in Alabama . We stuck a hot mariner 150 on a new one until the pro max come in and it gps 73 mph.. love your channel !! Cheers from down here in Mississippi..
ua-cam.com/video/tza5iiUyNgk/v-deo.html
Crappy vid of a Legend 202..
not mine just found it..
Norris Craft in the house. My 19XLvee with a 150 XRi runs 74 loaded with a 25 Trophy 4 blade. I’ve got a line on a 260 Merc. But not sure I want to make the swap. The XRi runs so good.
I was hoping the Nitro Savage 896 was listed, but you shut that down at the beginning 😂
The Allison is by far the best no question. Bullet is distant second...
Bass&Walleye magazine did a article on a Bullet 20XD with a 300X, with Paul Nichols and a passenger, light load, that did 104 on radar, if my memory is correct. If you have one of the old Bullet brochures, it’s the green and white boat in there. The article can be found online, also theres video of Paul running a CC with unknown specs on UA-cam, his gps tags 116mph with him saying several mph left in that particular boat.
i ran 82 in my Nitro last week could have hit 86 but the light up ahead turn red and i didnt wanna miss the turn to the lake .
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yep lol behind the truck 😆
Still gonna choose the Gambler! 👍🏻
Smart choice! Scotty G and Heath got that thing dialed in
It's hard to be a G Boat.
🤣 Nitro didn’t make the list….
Heck No!!!! Haha
Lights on is preferred but I like both!
Awsome review im shocked the gambler 2100 isnt up there she runs 80 plus with a tournament load
John smith was rolling in that tide craft hell ya 😳
Good accurate list... not sure about adding the special addition stratos but fair assessment
There was a stroker that hit some big barge waves on pool 10 a few years ago...... yeah that didn't end well for that boat. Lol. It had to be towed it with the hull and transom all cracked to pieces and the motor hanging on by the controls.
There is a late 80s model Bullet lying in an East Tennessee lake that split on impact with a wave. Had a black 200 on it but was labeled as a Mariner.
What’s y’all’s thoughts on cobra’s by viper boats, got one with a 250xs and would like to get a higher pitch prop. Any thoughts on speed?
SHOULD BE AN 80 MPH BOAT
I'm on Team Shadow. Only because I have a 180V and my dad has a 200VT. Definitely a conversation piece at the ramp.
Awesome! What speeds are you and your dad running in those?
Hi Todd, are you still running the Glassport 180V (shadow mold) I sold you like almost 20 years ago? If so, amazing! Hope all's well, Jack
Hey how about doing some 17-18 foot over and under build for us who can't get a 20+ boat?
Appreciate these type of videos, but y’all left out the truly fastest bass boat of all time…. The Allison XTB 21’3” with an offshore 300 merc with a mid 180lb person will run low 120’s all day in a light chop. I’ve fished out of one for years with a slightly built 225 offshore merc and have seen over 90mph loaded with crappie gear. The best part is you can drive this boat with one hand wide open! Unlike the Bullet…
I'm in East TN so I have some good ones to choose from. I gotta go Allison
Alan Stinson did a lot of cool stuff with those boats, there’s a video where he drove a javelin 400 or a 409 low 90s on UA-cam. Another thing on the stroker there’s a video on UA-cam of a yellow and blue one radared at 109 and the Allison holds the world record for fastest bass boat
Great info buddy, thanks! We will check it out
Alan is gone now and will be missed I worked with him for many years at javelin
I had a 1998 409DC Javelin , I up graded the 225 Evinrude to a 2004 225 HO BRP/Evinrude . With a 28 raker it would hit 80 in about 2km . Would run all day full load over 76 .
It was a blast to drive , hop up on plane and pin the throttle and the trim .
Both of my Evinrude's held up fine .
I here the 400s were fast to .
Can you guys make a video of fast with a 200, and a separate with a 250 to keep it consistent with HP?
2006 22’ Triton with a 225 mercury efi run top 80s low 90s. Would probably hit 100 if I could drive it!!! It’s Squirrley in the mid 60s and stays that way the whole time!
Strah-tos??? What??? Strat-US!
Po-ta-toe | Pa-tah-toe
@@TeamMarineService Keep up the good work! Love giving you guys crap!!!
Lights on!!!
Most of the same on my list. The stratos was a surprise to me but I wasn't familiar with that special model.
It was quite a boat . My dealer had one .
Lights off, nice list
Trying to prop out my xb21 with a 2023 300r, with 10 foot poles, an Ulterra on the back with 5 batteries in the middle of the boat, just in front of the driver and passenger seat.
call BBlades
My college girlfriend's dad had an Allison. He let me take her out in it one day, Lake of the Ozarks. "Bring her back better than you took her", he said.... needless to say, didn't hit 60 nor second base that day....both were dangerous, took a steady hand and could bite you in an instant if you weren't careful.
I hear that!
BUT HOW DID SHE HANDLE? LOOSE TIGHT ? OVER SENSITIVE WHEN YOU GET HER ON THE PAD ....AND HOW WAS THE BOAT?
@@crashalexander7232 tight until the speed increased then she got slippery and definitely had some unique handling characteristics.
Can you do a best rough water ride boat next ?
Champion gets my vote. Family owned a boat dealership for 40 years and I've driven a ton of boats. We also sold Champion, Charger, Ranger, Nitro (before Bass Pro bought them out), Spirit (old Skeeter copy), and Gambler over the years. Champion builds a great boat with a very deep v. If you fish in rougher water or bigger lakes, Champion gets my vote. Solidly built and handle extremely well. Great hull design. Not very fast but the trade off is better rough water ride.
Oh I believe Champion went out of business. A good option would then be Charger. Also really well built boats. They mainly copied the champion hull design (a very common practice in the boating world).
Never owned a fast boat but have been lucky enough to ride in a few. Fastest bass boat I watched run was a early 80's Champion mean 15 with a Mercury 225.
Those Mean 15s were rated for a 90hp, I remember a guy putting a 150 on one, they were as wide as a 19ft B boat back then just a lot shorter! I really liked the mean fifteens
Nice to see Norris Crafts on a list. I live 5 minutes from where they are/used to built!
Are they 100% out of production?
@@TeamMarineService No! Actually building one at present time.
Andy you're my friend!!! 😃🇺🇸🤙
Own a bullet I agree with your list 👍
My buddy has a stroker with a built 250 Yamaha ans we have had it to 100 + many times
Here’s the thing with the Ballsitic. Compared to the other 9 boats it’s an aircraft carrier
You talking about it’s strength? Or weight?
Great List, but I think your missing one. One of the Bumble Bee models has to be on there. I had a 178FD that would run in the high 50's with a 115. Then i got the 2100 and it would run low 80s tournament loaded w/300 HPDI. Never tested it empty she scared me.
I’d pick the Gambler every day, but some of the older Tritons are fast. There’s a video of a center console going 101
We'd pick the G or the Ballistic! Yeah those Tritons were fast too
97 and 98 Triton’s TR21’s 1250lb boats were dangerous and fast
The Allison’s are way more fish able than people think . You skipped Gambler.
My Stratos FS is plenty fast with the Evinrude HO 150, probably ONLY 60-ish, but I certainly dont need any more power for the lakes I fish in the Midwest. Im not a tourney guy, so maybe my opinion would change for that.
Cool vid, maybe do an "all-around" list, best handling, stability, quickness out of the hole , usability, quality & looks.
Top speed is nice, but it aint the reason to buy a boat.✌🏼
Andy, lights on
I have been passed by just about all of them. Also have passed a few of them when it’s gets a little choppy. All great boats
What do you think about aluminum? Bass boats
Damn what about my 521L!? haha it'll go but it ain't in a hurry compared to these boats haha
🤣🤣🤣
Yeah mid 70's in a bass boat is plenty fast enough for me. Its pretty cool to see these bass boats doing 100mph, but I wont be getting it in. Most of the time Im cruising along in the mid 50's. I have to be acutely familiar with the body of water and it needs to be glass smooth for me to even do mid 70's. I can tell you from experience logs, rocks, and really shallow water come out of no where and often times in places where you least expect it. So a bass boat doing 100mph is pretty dope to see going by, but i have no interest in being in it lol.
How fast u think a 87 champion 184 dc fish and ski with A blackmax 200hp can hit. Mine Has hot foot, jakeplate, trim, 3blade 24 ss prop. At 5800 or so I get about 70mph not loaded down alot.
Bullet 225 Pro Max Jay Smith rebuilt . And it screams !!! 90.4
Yessss!!!! Awesome
If I was buying a boat off of your list . My top three would be (3) blazer (2) ballistic and number one Gambler
We couldn't agree more
What about the Phoenix bass boats.
I know a couple years ago the px21 was rated at 95 mph of the showroom floor with the mercury 250 pro xs
We'd have to see documentation of that
maybe km/h
I know some of the Venture bass boats set some world records back in the day over 100 mph They were light and fast but not the best ride.
Allison is hard to get to, but there boats are solid
lights on.
I'll take my "lowly" number 10 Bass Cat Eyra.... lol
So why did you do the blazer 625 vs the blazer 202 Chris from blazer said that was their fastest hull they ever made
Good to know, thanks for the info Will
for some reason I want to see a good, bad, ugly for Vexus. Great content, dont stop!
Vexus will soon belly flop, doors shut.. Every single aluminum boat they made (3 models) 18,19,20 footer all have hull splitting from torquing at getting on plane..Factory is swamped re-hulling warranty boats. Happens around the 1 year mark.. Not on a weld either and what sucks is they will not do a recall.. If you sell the boat, even after 2 months which you probably will because there the slowest boat I’ve ever rode in 🥴 period on top of falling apart.. Good example. the 1880 model which is basically 19’ weighs 2200lb and come with a 115hp… Simply because of one reason, it would not past the us coastal service course that determines the hp rating… h
Oh. If you sell it the 2nd party is not covered under warranty of any type.. So they know they suck basically
laser stv and vray bass boats, hydrostream varmint, shadow 200vt made 104mxh with a suzuki 150...., storm is a fast hull....
I’d like to hear about Kingfisher Flex
lights on
My storm bass boat is definitely top 5 low 90s with a 225
What year is that Storm?
With tournament rig and u can go fish mlf or bass WHATS THE FASTEST BOAT OR TOP 3 NOW????
We'd go with Ballistic, Gambler or Blazer
80% of the field aren’t in Phoenix’s because they really want a nitro.. you feel me?
Well thats it I have to get a 300R for the javalina to try to make the list
You have to think about all of the other basscat variants
Fastest boat i owned was a Norris Craft 200 xlvee. Mac Ray and family great folks. I ran a 2.5 Bridgeport Merc on mine, evil boat, evil speed.
I'll take dependability over speed any day!
How about doing a most dependable bass boat lineup!?
The ballistic is going to be the best built I think. Way strong.
Can’t you just see the frown on those peeps in Kilgore Texas
Triton guys are going to be pissed!
Hahaha
East Tennessee has been building fast bass boats for a long time.
Heck yeah they've been!
