    ANCEL PB100 Automotive Circuit Tester Probe Kit - $76.99 - amzn.to/3t35qxp
    This 21st century test light is for diagnosing automotive electrical issues. It is far more advanced than the test lights I am used to.

    I still like my ancient Snap-On test light.
    Well, if you can test diodes, you can test transistors too.
    Thanks for the video Paul. ☮️

      I have an ancient Snap-On test light as well! I purchased it in the early 80s right off the truck. It was the most expensive tool I owned, but it was a tool I could trust!

    I like the ones that are squeezed into the old test light housings, but this looks pretty nice. Might have to pick one up and relegate the obsolescent style to the break-down box.

    11:05 The reset was because you made a short circuit through the diode,
    you didn't get the voltage drop reading because the probe was still in voltage setting and not diode setting (see the tab at the top of the screen).

    Is there anything this thing can do that you could not do with a decent multimeter?

    @11:20 reason you don't get it it's because you're not in the diode mode on pb100 you need to push the button 3 times to go to diode mode.

    it is a handy thing to have. but us guys who love to DIY the shit out of things! could make our own version, pretty easily too. MAYBE YOU MIGHT CONSIDER MAKING A VIDEO ON MAKING ONE OF THESE FOR THOSE WHO MIGHT NOT BE AS FAR ON WITH OUR ELECTRONIC LEARNING AS OTHER'S... (would be nice to see you do a project of something we all could use in our tool box/build corner or room. plus would like to see how you would go about putting together... i already have a quick version(coz lets be honest hear, all it really is a 12Volt PSU & a multi meter) of it in my head but one that works in connection with a multi meter)..

    I see a use when tracking down problems on tractor safety switches causing shutdown or no start.

    Awesome tool but will not load the circuit . So if a circuit has bad corrosion it might still give a good voltage reading but then fails when load applied. Put a 12v peanut in between too test properly.

    What I should have said was if this does everything that the Power Probe can do for $70. Buy it because PP has lost its mind on prices.

    That looks very expensive for what it is and does nothing that a cheap DMM can't do

    • @OtherDalfite
      @OtherDalfite 3 роки тому +1

      Nah it's not really that expensive. It's a niche tool though which can make it seem more expensive.
      I used to work at a bus manufacturing plant where people would slice through harnesses all the time installing the fiberglass ceilings. To track down everything with a multimeter could sometimes take a very long time, and sometimes it wasn't even a damaged harness but the end device causing the problem.
      This tool gives you the power to give power directly to a circuit to test function as well as a (light) ground to ensure a proper ground is there. The real power is just having 12V and a solid GND connection available to you at all times while at the same time having a multimeter as well.

      @@OtherDalfite I doubt it would take anyone with a basic knowledge of Arduinos to make one of these (waves hand). I'm actually making something not dissimilar right now based on the old "scope octopus" to diagnose my busted digital Onkyo amplifier. Sure, it's niche, but I would question the value.

    • @OtherDalfite
      @OtherDalfite 3 роки тому

      @@marcdraco2189 you could make one with an Arduino, sure. You could even make one with a multimeter and a power/ground wire. But it's going to be a pain in the ass to use and not have near as nice of a UI to work with.
      When I was halfway into a busses interior poking around, I was thankful NOT to have to do something like that. The added benefit of not having to guess if it's just your tool messing up is also a nice bonus. $76 is nothing for the amount of time/energy you save doing jobs. It'll pay for itself if you're using it for the right application.
