In this video, I give you a "How do you handle stress" and pressure answer
This job interview question has many forms and variations:
    How do you handle stress?
How well do you handle stress?
How do you handle stress and pressure?
How well do you handle stress and pressure?
How well do you handle conflict?
    How do you handle conflict?
How do you handle pressure at work?
How well do you handle pressure at work?
It also relates to occupational stress, work related stress, managing stress, a stress management interview, a how do you handle stress interview question, and a how do you handle conflict interview question.
I discuss how this is a trick question / bad question, and that you shouldn’t say anything bad about yourself. The Alternative answer, “I do these things to manage stress” is problematic because now they’re picturing you getting stressed out often or excessively. When you answer this question, the more you talk about getting stressed, the more they will think you will get stressed in the job if they hire you.
In my experience, being on both sides of interviews, using this best answer to "How Do You Handle Stress? (with this example and sample) can avoid disasters and pitfalls during job interviews such as awkward silences. If they want an example of how you dealt with the stress, just say something like "I went for my evening workout and that took care of any stress". Period. No more dwelling on this question.
I put this question in the larger context and explain what recruiters are looking for.
    - A good first impression.
    - No concerns you will not be able to handle stress.
    - No concerns you will be stressed out excessively.
    - No concerns you get stressed out easily.
    - You do not take up too much time on this questions so you can get back to making a case why they should select you.

How would you handle a conflict at work?

Yes, very helpful. Especially when you explained regarding the time spent on negativity answers and behavioural answers should be different, (and that it's ok to spend longer on the latter version of the stress question).

This is great advice. With most questions the candidate needs to elaborate a bit, but in this case - just stop talking ! Excellent, thanks

LOL i thought about the answer 10 seconds before you said it. ive learned that if you work on your own business, stress becomes mostly a factor specially in the beginning. After a while you really start to handle it really well and theres really nothing much to say further👌😄

An issue that I encountered that I didn't know how to handle was: how do you sell yourself when the interviewer doesn't give you a chance to speak? The worst interview I ever had was when the interviewer basically talked the entire time. There were maybe 3 questions at the beginning and the rest of the time was them talking. I was rejected for "not having enough experience" despite working in the field for 10 years.

Yeah I don't appreciate when interviewers talk about their experience working in the same field as the job you applied for and they only asked you a few common behavioural questions and then there will be a time they ask you an odd question like where are you from and the type of outfit you are wearing which left me speechless.

Recently I was asked a question at a job interview. The interviewer said that everyone gets stressed now and again and everyone has limits. She asked, how do I know that you are stressed? How do you act when you are stressed? What is a good answer for this question?

Is it OK to talk more if one feels one really responds well to stress - I am your man for a crisis? I value your advice, have certainly talked myself out of jobs, like this question more than some others and would rather focus on this strength than give them a chance to ask me about that time....

Hey Bill I have a question. I am currently interviewing with 2 companies for an internship position for the summer, lets call them company A and B. I really want the position at A and have B as basically a backup. My question is: if I get an offer from B first, do I just take it? or is it possible for me to ask for time to get all offers in?

    • @gtone339
      @gtone339 2 роки тому

Definitely take the option B first since they already offered you the job instantly, unless you wouldn't mind waiting for response from position A within a week or so if that's your ideal job.

Oh my. A couple of years ago I answered that question saying: "Oh you know, I'm really used to stress [this is where I should have stopped]. I actually like the feeling when I'm done after a hard day and I'm just sitting there in silence, my heart still racing …"
And the interviewer took a note and said out loud: "Ok, so not really able to work under pressure." and I was baffled and stumbled something like: "What? How? Uhm? What? No. I said I like working hard!"
That idiot thought my heart starts racing as soon as things get a little stressfull.
In hindisght it was good that I didn't get that job though.
