I always just assumed Phil Heath was a bit of a villain because of how he was commonly regarded, it's really refreshing to see him sit down and have a deep, long-form conversation with someone who asks good questions. Excellent work once again, Chris.
Looking back it was ridiculous. He was just a dude that turned up to work, did incredibly well and didn’t share too much about his personal life. Nothing wrong w that haha
Omg. I used to think he was so arrogant. But now I understand he truly believes in himself. And to give yourself promotion to believe in yourself and push your boundaries for no one else but yourself. ❤
Love the "multiply by zero" conversation. So much wisdom in knowing when to say "no". Doesn't get talked about enough because we're a "yes" culture, but saying "no" to one thing is saying "yes" to something else.
Phil's a great dude. I've seen people getting on him for being arrogant, however I just see a smart, self-aware dude who sees his own strengths. Guy is truly a gift. Great convo
I agree, but there’s a weird paradigm at play. No one gets to the level of success that Phil attained without working hard..... But he’s known as The Gift for several reasons. One being how well his body responds to training and gear. Phil famously had to work out less hard than other competitors. He could go off season for a period, then go on cycle for a couple months and just explode with muscle, way easier than most people can
Hes achieved a lot in his life. Hes got extreme levels of confidence and self belief. He talks like a champion of bodybuilding. Hes smart articulate as well. U cant expect a person like this to fit or to influence others opinion. So people can feel that he comes across as agressive but , Honestly i feel phil doesnt get enough credit for what hes achieved. People need to stop nit picking on the way he speaks or portrays himself and just need to learn from this champion life. Concentrate on the things hes done, and u will be inspired. I wish him a great life. Go Phil ❤
God seeing Phil on modern wisdom is such a crossover my favourite podcast apart from Rogan and one of my favourite bodybuilders of all time. So thankful for you Chris ❤
Its not often i find someone entertaining, inspirational, likable, admirable, i could go on and on, thank you, both of you, but especially phil heath, phil you are incredible, and such a rararity, i also forgot to mention charasmatic that magic undefinable thing that attracts people like a magnet, combine that with all your other gifts and accomplishments, and WOW amazing, you woke me up and made me dream again, thank you phil, god bless
Great interview. This is my first time watching your channel. I was definitely on the Kai bandwagon and really wanted to see Phil lose for so many years. I see that he’s a lot more intelligent than I gave him credit for and deserving.
I have a new appreciation for Phil Heath after watching this. I guess I never realized what an intelligent, introspective human being he really is. His story is both tragic and uplifting. The tragedy is that he wasn’t allowed to just enjoy his success without all the negativity manufactured by people who didn’t even know him. The uplifting part of it all is the inner strength he possesses that allowed him to focus, and refocus, and channel all his energy into manifesting and creating his own destiny. I have been a fan of bodybuilding since the 1980s and I admit I was never fully invested in Phil’s reign. There is no disputing his greatness as a champion bodybuilder but now I do t think anyone can question his greatness as a human. I am thankful that I had the experience of watching this and hearing his stories. Good stuff!
The sentence about bodybuilders nowadays ''They are taking drugs more than actually doing the work'' hits hard man and you can really feel that compared to Ronnie's generation , people just want to take shortcuts and make their way up there..Being human nowadays is overrated !
I ALWAYS liked Phil and Kai during and before their rivalry. But I remember the first time I heard Phil speak for an extended period of time was on Mark Lobriner's channel (tiger fitness) in 2014. I love listening to what Phil has to say!
Love him or hate him, you have to respect him. His mindset is something else and he dropped some true gems in this interview. I have always been a fan of his and this was a great interview.
Chris, it’s like you write dialogue exactly for life and the things we are receiving as human. When he started talking about fast and furious and hitting the Nos too soon… modern wisdom!
I’ll be honest, I was one of those guys that hated that he got away with having a bad midsection in his olympias, but it’s humbling to see how much he’s grown and hearing about how passionate he is about the sport
We’ve been so spoiled with these interviews lately. Heath, Cutler, Coleman, Bumstead, Hogan, Flair. Old, but gold- Zane, Platz, Haney, Arnold, Yates. Best videos on YT
This was kind of a breakthrough interview for me. It’s the first time that I’ve ever found Heath to be relatable, probably because he didn’t seem angry, something that always seems to be simmering just beneath the surface with him. This time he seemed honest and sincere without that rough edge that made him difficult to watch. And by rough edge I mean that prior to this he always seemed very defensive when asked any question at all, as if he was afraid that everyone was out to get him. As for the interview, I thought the questions were interesting and about the things that bodybuilders want to hear, and I thought his answers were honest and sincere. He finally came across as a regular guy, something that I think will endear him to bodybuilding fans like me. Reply
Love this type of stuff!! Who would have expected this to go so deep? Not only is this guy on another level in terms of work ethic and champion's mindset, he is also very honest and really understands how limiting beliefs can hold all of us back and he explains how to overcome them.... If you want to do your friends a big favor, share this with all of them! Great interview, thanks for loading up! 💪👍
I truly wish he would've went for his 8th just one more time last year. I was shocked when he didn't. It's all good. Most men will never, ever even win one Mr. Olympia but Heath is the goat. Love that he's from my home state!
Always been a fan of Phil, I do think he's misunderstood because of how strong his self-belief is, how determined he is and how openly he is willing to go after anything he wants, personally I think he's excellent! This was a great interview.
I was at the Cleveland show in 2014 when Phil was speaking. My first ever competition. I saw his arms and almost quit bodybuilding 😂😂 His personality is pure dominance. Thank you for this interview 💪✊️
Man i absolutely Loved this podcast... i think i better not say that i'm a fan of phil heath, but a follower. in the last moments of podcast when he said about making a legacy, i'm just gonna say that, you've already done it phil heath... you've changed my life because you changed my mentality and mindset towards competing, believing in my self , and knowing my self more than anything else to be able to beat my self. i just wish you get what you want from life like most the times you did, i hope to see more of you on instagram or youtube.
I’m here to say Great questions followed by great conversation, especially on more than just bodybuilding. Phil’s wise, we can all learn from him. Learn to see past from what he’s done and look where he’s headed 🔥@philheath
When he mentioned coach Mike and his former teammates like Jamal Crawford, Nate Robinson that brought back a lot of memories. Coach Mike used to scream and yell at them because he was right. Coach's expectations were through the roof, and he demanded greatness from all of them, cause he knew they all had the "IT" factor
What a great conversation. I never realized the intention behind Phil's outlook from exercise to life. This is why Phil is 7x Mr O winner. Also gotta respect Kai Greene for being the only person to call Phil after his defeat, and basically saying something correctly, No one beat the Phil Heath he knew and battled against. no one.
NGL... Watching Phil v Kai era / battle was legendary, i remember watching how hardcore Kai was training and hated Phil as a cocky douche, but looking back it was amazing, you needed a hero and anti-hero and their battles was that. Looking back, you dont see it these days..
Phil is a legend, always will be. He is a once in a multiple generation bodybuilder that's extremely gifted, and not just on stage, or the gym. Phil set a standard so high, especially in 2012 and 2013 that will not be matched by any of the best pros now or the up and coming guys for many years yet. That guy hasn't started competing yet, he's probably not born yet. Those guys come around every decade or so. Just look at the history of the sport. Phil is great and he's one of the greatest ever.
This was absolutely awesome! Phil just gets it! He displays a high level of intelligence and perseverance. Phil: if you ever do decide to run your own podcast; I will be one of the first to subscribe! God Bless 🤟🏽🙏🏻
Why, my dear friend, I must declare with the deepest and most profound respect, that the vision before us is none other than the most exquisitely articulated and magnificently presented meatball I have ever had the privilege to behold.
Holy shit. Never heard Phil speak before. What a badass. Amazing conversation. For a group of men that are stereotypically unintelligent pro bodybuilders are have some amazing insights.
Ive always liked Phil but less than 3 minutes into the pod I can confidently say I love this guy. We could all be a Gift if only we poured into our purpose with the intent of lifting each other up
Loved this one as much as most of your podcasts, Chris. We definitely see the quality of the production, where you even make a different intro in your ads for each video which is very seamless. Chris What you said about the reverse role model as an only child myself. Explains why I grew up so fast as a young teen! Phil what an amazing story and inside look at bodybuilding/life and being mindful and caring
I’ve never been a Phil Heath fan untill now. Still a kai Greene die hard but just seeing another side of him he’s actually pretty genius in the way he conducted himself
I learned everything from Phil Heath and have been with his journey from the beginning still the best of all times No other bodybuilder has had his mindset going into battle to hold his title every year and I do not see anyone know who's going to hold the title ever again or come close to 7 times lol
This was so inspiring! Also, this is the only channel where I don't rewind the sponsored segment :) Partly cause of the good presentation and partly out of curiosity for the product - knowing that Chris wouldn't advertise nonsense to us.

Can you get the rock on
CHRIS PLEASE INTERVIEW KAI GREENE!!!!!! That man is a well of wisdom.
I always just assumed Phil Heath was a bit of a villain because of how he was commonly regarded, it's really refreshing to see him sit down and have a deep, long-form conversation with someone who asks good questions.
Excellent work once again, Chris.
Mmwhuekjukuuu
he just filled the persona once it was going that direction. but yeah solid dude
Looking back it was ridiculous. He was just a dude that turned up to work, did incredibly well and didn’t share too much about his personal life. Nothing wrong w that haha
He was ripped when playing basketball in college … crazy genetics
Phil at his peak was simply unbeatable. Always loved his villain aura!
Ronnie at peak poops on em
Kai Greene beat him lots of times!!
Dang it, Phil is 10x more impressive than I thought, and I already had him in high regard.
Omg. I used to think he was so arrogant. But now I understand he truly believes in himself. And to give yourself promotion to believe in yourself and push your boundaries for no one else but yourself. ❤

Thank you Chris and thank you Phil. This was such a great conversation. Newfound respect for Phil
Phil is the definition of a winner nothing else matters but winning you can just tell how determined and how hard he must of worked
I agree, but there’s a weird paradigm at play. No one gets to the level of success that Phil attained without working hard.....
But he’s known as The Gift for several reasons. One being how well his body responds to training and gear. Phil famously had to work out less hard than other competitors. No matter what others say , Phil is the greatest of his generation . And there's a lot we can learn from him. Thanks Will for bringing him in .
His names John bro
@@Mark70775 I thought it was Estaban or something.
Phil Heath is the perfect person to interview. Thank you for this interview!
Hes achieved a lot in his life. Hes got extreme levels of confidence and self belief. He talks like a champion of bodybuilding. Hes smart articulate as well. As much as a kai fan I was growing up - Phil is a great champion and interview.
God seeing Phil on modern wisdom is such a crossover my favourite podcast apart from Rogan and one of my favourite bodybuilders of all time. So thankful for you Chris ❤
I have a newfound appreciation for Phil after this. This is the gold standard for podcasting.
You are knocking these outta the park one after another - keep killing it brotha
🎉 agreed.
Chris is one of us, and we're all grateful for your work. Thank you
Now that you got Phil on I hope to see you bring Kai Greene on in a future episode! Great content as always!💪🏽
Great interview. This is my first time watching your channel. I was definitely on the Kai bandwagon and really wanted to see Phil lose for so many years. I see that he’s a lot more intelligent than I gave him credit for and deserving.
I can listen to him all day. Such a cool dude
What a LEGEND!! Nothing but Excellence. To see him in his prime was UNBELIEVABLE

Hahaha. Super Saiyan analogy. Thank you Phil! Now all us little kids in their 30s and 40s can understand 🎉
Chris, it’s like you write dialogue exactly for life and the things we are receiving as human. When he started talking about fast and furious and hitting the Nos too soon… modern wisdom!
Never multiply by zero is fucking gold ✨️👌🏾 thank u Chris, fire interview Phil 💪🏾🔥
Agree, lowkey best advice for life!
I’ll be honest, I was one of those guys that hated that he got away with having a bad midsection in his olympias, but it’s humbling to see how much he’s grown and hearing about how passionate he is about the sport

A living legend "The Gift" Phil Heath. 7 time winner without the politics and no injuries

People love to hate on people who make them feel inferior. Phil’s confidence made him a target for the weak.
I was at the Cleveland show in 2014 when Phil was speaking. My first ever competition. I saw his arms and almost quit bodybuilding 😂😂 His personality is pure dominance. Thank you for this interview 💪✊️
13:04 the MK analogy is pure gold ! Face yourself. Thanks for this podcast, best Dominik
Love this!
Such an honest, inspiring and thought provoking episode!!! Thanks Chris for having this convo with Phil! I needed this today!

Great interview, probably the best one yet with Phil. All are great, but both of you are keeping it 1000%. This is golden!
Holy, the video quality is insane.
Reminds me of that Elliot Hulse guy from back in the day and really see how Phil influenced his content

I just ended this up. I watched this interview in 4 cardio sessions of 30 mins 🔥🔥🔥.
16:55 LIFE-CHANGING
When he mentioned coach Mike and his former teammates like Jamal Crawford, Nate Robinson that brought back a lot of memories. Coach Mike used to scream and yell at them because he was right. Coach's expectations were through the roof, and he demanded greatness from all of them, cause he knew they all had the "IT" factor
In an era of massiveness, Phil Heath gave us as a gift :) harmony, quality, and aesthetics (at least 4 years out of the 7 and all the previous years).
Phil is a very smart guy and in my opinion up there with Ronnie. Either hate him or love him. Respect
What a Gigachad
Those 2 hours went by so fast, it was a delight to listen to him lol
Phil dropped a lot of knowledge. Such a powerful advice “ Play life with your eyes”
What does it mean ?
Every time I listen to Phil I learn something new about life. He makes me think. Thank you
What a great conversation. I never realized the intention behind Phil's outlook from exercise to life. This is why Phil is 7x Mr O winner. Also gotta respect Kai Greene for being the only person to call Phil after his defeat, and basically saying something correctly, No one beat the Phil Heath he knew and battled against. no one.
This is the Most aesthetic studio you have ever made a video in, Good job Chris!
Wow! Just wow! This is exactly why Phil will be the best to ever do it!! On and off stage, a true champion 👊🏻
Great Guest. Great Host. Thanks fellas appreciate it
The gift is the greatest nickname of all time and it’s the perfect nickname for Phil this guy was a bodybuilding god
NGL... Watching Phil v Kai era / battle was legendary, i remember watching how hardcore Kai was training and hated Phil as a cocky douche, but looking back it was amazing, you needed a hero and anti-hero and their battles was that. Looking back, you dont see it these days..
Its nice to listen to phil talk about everything, not just bodybuilding, awesome interview.
The insight to my favorite body builders that I grew up to in Walmart magazines while my mom shopped, 28 now and this is great.
Didn’t expect the only child conversation, but I love it
His forearms are from another planet. It looks like a second arm attached to its primary one. Outstanding!
Absolutely loved this podcast. Nothing but the truth from start to finish. 💪🏾💯💯💯
Great podcast
1:42:48 Phil's right forearm
This was absolutely awesome! Phil just gets it! He displays a high level of intelligence and perseverance. Phil: if you ever do decide to run your own podcast; I will be one of the first to subscribe!
God Bless 🤟🏽🙏🏻
LOVE the support you are showing bodybuilding!!! Keep it coming! 💪
It's good to see Kurt Angle looking so healthy, looked like his injuries were catching up last I saw!
Why, my dear friend, I must declare with the deepest and most profound respect, that the vision before us is none other than the most exquisitely articulated and magnificently presented meatball I have ever had the privilege to behold.
More bodybuilders and more people from the sport in general. ❤
Good podcast , Phill is smart and very good communicator
Thank you for giving bodybuilding a louder voice. We all appreciate it.
Wow, what a beautiful
beautiful conversation! Some moments almost had me in tears, thanks Chris and Phil for sharing this!
Thanks, been listening👂
Thanks extra much for the reminders of things NOT TO DO and the encouraging talk 🙌
Get Kai Greene on!!
Holy shit. Never heard Phil speak before. What a badass. Amazing conversation.
For a group of men that are stereotypically unintelligent pro bodybuilders are have some amazing insights.
Thank you for this.
How many things do I have learned from Phil? Many! You have no idea? GOAT mentality...
One minor thing to improve (to make it perfect) is that the camera on Phil was a bit wobbly at the begining. Other than that, totally nailing it lately, man.
Chris What you said about the reverse role model as an only child myself. Explains why I grew up so fast as a young teen!
Phil what an amazing story and inside look at bodybuilding/life and being mindful and caring
Phil’s analysis on Kai is spot on in terms of physique!
The forearms on this man
I’ve never been a Phil Heath fan untill now.
This episode is awesome. i learn a lot
Not commenting a lot but amazing depth in this conversation, really amazing!
This interview is astonishing ! I have learn so much with this. Mann Phil is really Him.
This was so inspiring! Also, this is the only channel where I don't rewind the sponsored segment :) Partly cause of the good presentation and partly out of curiosity for the product - knowing that Chris wouldn't advertise nonsense to us.
This is one of the best so far. Gotta get flex wheeler on here
This was an absolutely wonderful eye opening mindset changing interview. Thank you.
Phil is the real deal. The gift is very fitting for who he is.
Chris is able to ask all the right questions
I love The Gift too. I always looked at it as if the gift came from what he was able to produce physique wise on so little. Thats the gift! Amazing!!!
