The first reactor to ever off the bat, say "is this about Detroit?". You sir are very observant, just like mark knopfler. He wrote this song whilst traveling through Detroit but I'm pretty sure he's stated that it could be about any similar city all over the world. What a masterpiece. Superb reaction.
Oh please! Obviously researched the song. Every reaction channel on Tube is fake and rehearsed. This is a money making enterprise, nothing more nothing less. Too many idiots are taken in by it and unfortunately perpetuate the falsehood by contributing! Sad world!
Mark wrote this while Dire Straits was touring in the US and they were going down route 24 through Michigan into Detroit, he was reading the book "The growth of the soil" at the time and he combined the 2 into this song. And the studio version of this song is even 2 minutes longer, it was on the album "Love over gold" which only has 5 songs, but is one of the best Dire Straits albums
This is a masterpiece (like all songs from the Dire Straits), chilling and cinematographic. In this performance I love how all instruments are in harmony and enhance the story Mark's telling (which Mark wrote while reading a book from 1920 during a bus tour in the USA), I adore the opening guitar and the interaction between Mark and Alan during the bridge...Thank you for reacting to the best band ever, with top musicians, and to one of their best songs. These guys are Gods of music!
The whole "Alchemy" concert was awesome and one of the best live performances ever. DS were so good live, check out "Tunnel of Love" live at Wembley, it's fantastic
I have said it before and I will say it now This concert was by far the best ever live concert by any band anywhere , not just for this number but every one was absolute perfection for live pop music.
Quelle chanson, quelle belle interprétation, j'ai 50 ans, j'ai découvert cet album quand j'étais en 3ème au collège... Que du bonheur cet album, Sultan of Swing, Private investigation... Que des masterclass ! Merci pour cette réaction Mister D
Is. Mark Knopfer is still a fantastic songwriter. I know this is very early solo Mark Knopfler, but this song, and particularly this version of this song, is up there in the best feel good songs ever. Honestly, the man is a genius. ua-cam.com/video/UD4LWIy675Y/v-deo.htmlsi=cmjhqcy0x99znA6q
Hey loving your channel and reactions. Love this performance. I think you'll also really love Calling Elvis and Brothers In Arms from Dire Straits - Live "On The Night" 1993. This time he uses a Pensa Suhr which pierces right through you, especially Brothers In Arms. Anyway Cheers, all the best from Australia. 👍🎸🎸🎸
It was written about Detroit, but it could easily be about any once thriving city that has been turned to blight and decay. It is a shame that Detroit gives Michigan such a bad name. Most of the state is absolutely beautiful. Please don't let one city ruin your opinion of an entire state. We are surrounded by four of the five great lakes. There is so much to do here. As someone that was born and raised in a northwest suburb of Detroit, I can tell you that I have not been into the city for about 30 years. I used to work for Ford in Dearborn, MI and had to drive Telegraph Road every day. It was always congested and stressful. I am so grateful those days are over. Dearborn is unrecognizable now.
Sultans of Swing & Telegraph Road are classics of the classics. Mark with Dire Straits and on his own with other greats make music to improve the cosmos! Check out other concerts and the many tunes to match any mood. But they are mostly uplifting and feel good! Check the lyrics for the stories in them for your next level!
Greetings from Canada. Love me some Mark Knopfler! But love me some Detroit too: Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Aretha, Bob Seger, Mitch Ryder, The Supremes, Martha and the Vandellas, Stevie Wonder, Iggy Pop & The Stooges, and my personal favourite: Was (Not Was). Peace, love and bellbottoms.

"This about Detroit?" Nailed it. Take a bow. A truly beautiful song.
first reactor ive seen in years to get it first time
❤Mark Knopfler ❤ A true guitar hero! And he makes it look so easy. Dire Straits = true Rock'n'Roll magic!

US Highway #24 is Telegraph Road but it does not go through Detroit. It runs some 70 miles along the western edge of the city.
MASTERPIECE !!!

Thats how you win Sub immediately. "THIS IS ABOUT DETROIT?"
Nice hearing the bass come in a little stronger on this reaction. Gives it that “oomph”! Great reaction!
Enjoyed your reaction sir. From South Africa 🇿🇦. Live private investigation 🔎 next PLEASE 🙏
It'a a true story of an american city. Mark was a great reader of stories and culture. He loved to tell them, with the magic of his guitar
Is. Mark Knopfer is still a fantastic songwriter.

Best ever bit of song writing! Tunnel of Love is the other piece in this same concert definitely worth a listen! Subbed
Next: "Private Investigations"
So glad you loved it !!
You are so right the 80's were the good old days the sixties started it but the 80's finished it with dozens upon dozens of great bands and singers.

😉 D. "WOW" , nothing more to say. Next addiction? 😂 Music is a good drug
Now you must see different examples of the great Dire Straits live.... from On the Night Private Investigations or Romeo and Juliet
Detroit, got it first go
Henry Ford is the man on the track walking 30 miles with a sack on his back.

_Was (Not Was)_ were the opening act for Dire Straits on the _On Every Street Tour 91-92_ ...
@@Jorge_Arts Thanks for the info. I'd be jealous except when I saw DS, the opening act was SRV and Double Trouble. Peace, love and popcorn.

Well Sally why do you even bother? 100% BS. If you have something to say, say it, for crying out loud.
Vote Trump 2024 and Detroit will be back.
I’ve been told to be civil about this comment, but I can’t, so I won’t say anything at all. Nuff said.
