The EVH 5150iii Stealth & the Peavey JSX are both killer amps for anything high gain,after not touching a guitar for a full month due to illness I decided to shoot them out!All the bum notes are there.

Awesome video and thanks for giving the JSX a good review I now own one and am super happy with the sound.
Killer amp no worries
Both amps sounded great I liked the high gain smooth growl of the stealth and the jsx had more percussive crunch
Recently in a stoner band I have been using an MXR Super Badass Variac Fuzz into the Crunch channel of my JSX (gain only on 3) but I used to use an MXR/CAE Boost/Linedriver on 18V around 9 o'clock into the Crunch channel, with the gain on the amp around 11 o'clock-12 o'clock. One the clean channel I never used a boost. On the Ultra channel I basically used the same setup as on the Crunch channel, but it gave me more gain for leads. That gave a more Paradise Lost vibe.

Save the $ and get a jsx. They're like 60% cheaper
Man, it's kinda wild how much I prefer the JSX here. I'm thinking it's perhaps the low mods on the EVH throwing me, but I'm not certain. I used to own that Stealth model and eventually fell put of love. Maybe I'll hunt a JSX someday.
Side note: Crazy luck for me because you dropped this video and Kyle Bull is comparing his Peavey amps right now.

Not surprised the JSX is on par with my 100 EVH EL34s
It’s a very clear but very saturated tone which appeals to me ,the EVH works really well with the CaptorX so I’ve used it on most of my ep
@@NinecoreNeil I'm really glad the JSX is a head worth having around. The lady silhouette diamond plate of the XXX is always a divisive thing so having Satch's styling as a rough sonic alternative is appealing.

Very low
The JSx sounds as meaty and crunchy with the same distortion but a lot more articulate than the EVH . Is this the impression you got as well ?
Yes it’s very defined and clear the JSX
There's one more commonality you didn't mention. Both amps designed by James Brown.

@@NinecoreNeil no, the 5150-III were not designed by James Brown. He did design the 5150 Iconic with EVH/Fender though.
James Brown and John Fields at Peavey were the engineers who designed the JSX. John Fields is still with Peavey actually. He’s a pretty killer dude!

Very underrated head the JSX
stealth sounds better to me, but JSX sounds good on chords ringing out, just doesn't chug as well.
Yeah the JSX has a really chompy tone on the mures where the stealth is a bit more modern low thunk

@@NinecoreNeil I have a chance to get a JSx for 500 in mint condition . Should I get it ? I need something that will do good 80s Lynch tone and Van Halen . You think the Rhythm channel is choppy ? Can a tube change fix that ?
@@Rezparviz there’s a lot of mids on this amp but yeah perfect for 80’s …..I love it because it’s so different from all my other amps
@@NinecoreNeil I have had a H&K which I can turn down to 5 watts . I can’t do this with the JSx . Can you get a good tone out of it at bedroom volumes or am I wasting my time getting this amp .
