However, if you have clients who need to approve what you are about to build, you may need to create a BRD-style document that is client-facing to give them - even if your development methodology is agile. Hi Kayode, thanks for watching and supporting the channel. No the business case is not the same as the business requirements document. The business case is a document to provide justification for an initiative the business wants to do which includes feasibility study, competitive analysis etc.. it helps management have the information to make the decision whether to do it or not and provides a recommendation. The business requirements document provides the requirement for what the business has already decided to do. You can rename "Business Problem" to be your "Business Background" and rename "Solutions Overview" to be your "Objective" if you like those terms better. This BRD video is not a formula - it's an example. So do what makes sense for your project. However dont make your document too fluffy and too far removed from its purpose. Dont talk about too many generic things about the business. Stick to the intent of this document - which is detailing the specific requirements to solve the specific business problem.

How long it takes to write a BRD of course depends exactly on the type of project and there is no set time to complete a BRD becuase every project is different. It can take from 1 week to one month or more. In general though you can estimate at most 2 weeks as a safe time to deliver a draft setting the expectation that you may need more time to revise based on feedback. Hope that helps!
