  • Robinson’s outstanding performances in the Lightweight, Welterweight, Middleweight, and Light-Heavyweight divisions, led sportswriters to create the term, “Pound for Pound” in 1951. Used as a method of assessing how fighters would perform against each other outside the confines of a weight class, the P4P list was realized to determine the best fighter in the world. Sugar Ray Robinson still, till this day, holds the P4P #1 ranking of all time by all boxing historians and fans around the world. #shorts #boxing #goat

      Hagler is nothing compared to SRR. SRR had reached pinnacle of boxing ring IQ and the sweet science as the saying goes....while other boxers played single notes...SRR played chords. When you have fought professionally 150+ other great boxers,lifting for 15 rounds, and had over 30 years of God knows how hours of sparring etc. And evolved your own boxing style with the experience. Your a Maverick.

      Over 200 fights, only 13 world champions. In a time where there was 8 weight classes. Hmmm… that’s a pretty weak case. But if that works for you, then ok. Floyd had 49 fights, way less than half and beat 23 world champions. Hmmm… ok. I guess he doesn’t have a case. The only fighter to hold 5 titles between 2 weight classes. I don’t think I need to go through the list of HOFers. It’s undeniable. But I guess Floyd doesn’t have a case. My bad

    • @julianfalken8861
      @julianfalken8861 26 днів тому +1

      @@lilsaff21 he doesen’t have a case. There are other fighters who could be possibly the goat but floyd is objectively not it. Allow me to go further into detail as to why.
      You seem to have glossed over the fact when i said SRR beat 13 world champs in an era with only one belt each weight class. Compared to floyd, who lived in an era with 4. This means Floyd has it literally 4 times easier to get wins from other champions. So if we did the math here and times SRR champion wins by 4, that would mean he would have over 52 champion wins if he fought today.
      On top of that, out of 23 world champs floyd has beaten, only 7 of them were actual hall of famers. Out of 13 SSR beat, 10 were hall of famers. And also to mention your really dumb point on how having 200+ fights and only having 13 title wins is weak… What did you expect from him? Do you think all 200 of those fighters were really gonna be world killers? If you did then you’re really naive.
      Back then you had to fight many times just so you could have more money and most of the time SRR fought it was just for the money especially at the end of his career. Just cause not all 200 opponents were quality opponents does not down play the top tier opponents he did face.
      The only claim floyd has over SRR is that hes undefeated, and any boxing expert knows that being undefeated does not equal to being the greatest, only casuals think that. If that were the case Rocky Marciano would be the greatest heavyweight of all time not Muhammad Ali.

    He had well over 100 KOs and he even killed a man in the ring.
    Floyd has 50 mostly decisions.
    Robinson had the power of Tyson the reflexes.of Roy Jones and better footwork than Ali.
    Over 200 pro fights was stopped once of heat exhaustion where even the ref fainted, at light heavyweight and old.
    Easily GOAT conversation and arguably the man.

      Though he failed to prove that overall in his career. Thats why people have Sugar Ray Robinson as the P4P GOAT and BOAT simply because of what he has proven and against who he has proven against.
      Roy is far from "just" a good fighter, there is no doubt in my mind he was one of the best to ever do it but by not being abled to rack up his career like Ray did. It makes Roy just not look so very good in comparison.
      Also Roy was a wee bit chinny and i seriously doubt that Ray would fail to land at least one good left hook on Roy for 12-15 rounds. Personally i got Ray by 11th round KO.
      No disrespect to Roy ofc he's an amazing champ but personally i got Ray against him.

He’s not beating Pac. He’s not beating Crawford. He’s not beating BHop. He’s not beating Oscar De La Hoya, etc.

Names I suggest, Willie pep, gene Tunney, jersey joe Walcott, Ezzard Charles, Muhammad Ali. there's a reason why these names stand out the test of time. because they will be successful in any era. footwork, rhythm, timing, speed, reflexes, stamina, resume, champions, hall of famers and so on.

The video said, Sugar Ray over everybody. He ended his career with 19Ls. And not one of those opponents were as athletic, nor as intelligent as the opponents I listed. Let’s just be real. I’ve learned, when people call people casual, or make mention of it, 8-10 times, they are the casuals. And you’re telling me something I already know. But here you are trying to take the position as a boxing scholar. And I never once said ray Robinson wasn’t ONE of the greatest. You are coming with an assumption that’s my position about Ray Robinson. And it’s not. Instead of trying to be smart, why not just ask my opinion of him overall. And I already said, he would be successful in any era. What part of that wasn’t clear? Your opinion doesn’t matter either. Clearly. It’s all opinions at the end of the day.

    • @Razah.
      @Razah.  Місяць тому

      @@lilsaff21 causal is just an easy term to use when someone just doesn’t understand the history of boxing, for instance you stated Robinson fought boxers who aren’t as athletic as the names you mentioned, I’ve never seen Oscar, Floyd or pacman go 15 rounds. So in reality the old school fighters are more athletic as there’s proof. You have 0 evidence to show modern day fighters are more athletic than old school fighters. the greatest boxer of all time is someone who’s on top, you mention names such Crawford, de lay hoya, Pac stating he’s not beating them, which in turn means Ray Robinson isn’t the greatest, so I’m not assuming anything, you indirectly stated that he isn’t the greatest. And like I said, your opinion is irrelevant, when scholars such as Ali, Cus, Tank, Patterson, Louis, Bert Sugar and so on say the opposite of what you said. You have an opinion yes, but what I’m telling you is also the opinion of those names I’ve mentioned. So I think we’re done here.

      @Niklasholmen even James Toney said SRR was the best😉. What you've seen in prime jones was an enigma of SRR. See Roy was an athletic fighter. He wasn't a skilled fighter. That showed later in his years. SRR has both athletic and skilled. His record speaks for itself.
