  • If this video seems familiar to you, it should. I posted it last week, but due to LAST minute copyright restrictions, I had to take it down. But I’ve decided to repost it minus the violations.
Unlike some men, I’ve never experienced frustration towards women and that’s largely due to the lessons learned from “The Last American Virgin” And “The Learning". The things I’ve learned, by watching these movies as a kid, spared me from the pitfalls that many men have suffered today. Join me as a break down my reasons why. As well as my brief response to the Eboni K. Williams situation.

Yeah it goes both ways. I loved this movie as a kid and when I became a teenager I feel for a Gary who was obsessed with my best friend who was absolutely gorgeous. But it sucks because I feel in love with the nice guy bc of this movie and they want the ones who don't want them too. Or I suck IDK.

@@sistersister8830 No you do not suck. Life is a trial and error process. Each failed relationship makes you more mature. It gives you more wisdom on how to handle relationships. We liked the boob scenes and I did feel sorry for Gary . I couldn’t watch the movie again. And I turned in to a Gary often being a simp . But I wish I had seen it more often and learned the lessons it was teaching not to be like Gary. That he wasn’t a victim . We all can’t be a Rick , but we certainly can make ourselves better not to end up as a Gary and make better decisions because being like Gary can destroy our lives …. Literally

The minute his best friend got her in trouble again, he would leave again. Who do you think would she have gone to in order to pick up the pieces? Gary. Also it does not matter if (Rose) was cute or not. Or if she get’s dolled up or not. Rose, is free to choose whoever she wants to be with and be a part of her life.
However; just because she has a crush on Gary, that does not mean; he has to reciprocate the same lustful feelings in return, especially if he *does not want to.*
Gary should have let go of Karen, when he had the proper chance to do so. And when Rose started coming on to him, Gary needs to be honest and give it to her straight and say he is not interested and wants Rose to leave him alone.
Then and only; *then* Gary can finally move on with his life and find a new special girl for him to meet and be with.

Another great video again brother. In my personal experience, I was always the guy that pushed away women. I never actually chased. Like as if I wanted to spend my time and life alone. I was not overtly into wanting to sleep with women but I always appreciated the company of many women. I used to be oblivious to women's interests in me, especially during my teenage and early twenties. I also have a tendency to lose interest fast thus why nothing ever happen between me and the women in my life. I am now, in my late twenties - wanting to give it a try but just see many of women who just don't love themselves. So I am just stepping easy until things hit right.
I do not know if there is a modern term for guys like me but I have also met women with similar flow. The biggest thing I have learnt in life is that women are not trophies nor something we should be chasing. If one treats women as simply a means to a goal of self worth, you've already lost at the game.
Take your time and let things boil if it means much to you and if not, do not waste your time and move onwards. There will always be a woman out there. No such thing as the one but the one you choose.

And it's OK to be a Virgin and let no one tell you otherwise. It's all about what you want to give and if your body is something you'd not want to share with just any one, do you & take your time. We need to teach the youths more of this mentality. Stay on the grind my man. Blessings!

    @davidwhite2671 Рік тому +12

    Great analysis video 👍🏼😎!
The Last American Virgin does show and teach a lot of what, how and why a person can become, based on the paths they take.
Although, I do want to share one critique about one of the main characters that everyone has chosen to misunderstand.
Now, it is true that based on some of his actions alone, Gary was acting like a *stalker* towards Karen throughout most of the movie.
From looking up her home address, flattening the tire of her bike, offering a free ride so she can get to school, staring at her in an unflattering manner on several multiple locations throughout L.A. even hustling the money on his part to pay for Karen’s abortion. Yeah, that would make Gary into something of a *creep* to Karen. Especially, if his ‘intentions’ on the matter, were dark.
The reason why I say this, is because Gary from the beginning was jealous of his friend; Rick. Before Karen came into the picture, Rick (from Gary’s P.O.V.) always gets *all* the girls and Gary felt that he is just the type of guy that can only get other certain girls that he is *not interested* in.
(Such as, for example: the repulsive, robust, obnoxious nerd girl - Millie, from act 1 whom Gary reluctantly hung out with that night and Rose, the annoying geek chick that just could not get a clue; that Gary *does not like her,* ever!)
Making him feel like he always gets the short end of the stick when it came to girls and dating.
So when Karen came into town, that is when Gary chose to do everything in his own power to hook up and be with the new girl on the block, before Rick can.
But of course, Gary was wrong and persistently continued to go down the dark path thus creating the unintentional conflict and consequences, that would ultimately cause Gary to suffer in the end.
Side note: David the 3rd main guy in The Last American Virgin is the MVP of this movie. Sure, in certain parts of the flick; he was the comedy relief in a stereotypical manner, but more importantly he was the silver lining to keep the peace among his two guy friends from going to war with each other over a girl. And when Dave himself struck out or got rejected by girls he chose to meet, he just continued moving forward with his life and in the end he finally got to score with a hot girl while attending Karen’s birthday party. So kudos to David 🙌🏼😎🍻!
In conclusion: Gary is *not a or the villain* of the story. He is just a shy, sensitive, insecure beta male whom impulsively acted out on desperation, in order to achieve his goals and ultimately; he *failed* and has to live with the consequences of his actions.
Hopefully, in the future Gary smartens up, makes improvements on himself and finally does get to score with the girls, he *wants* to be with. I know that is wishful thinking, but I am just saying; ‘good’ guys like Gary, deserves a break.

The movie is actually an american remake of Israeli film called Lemon Popsicle. The story is basically the same (though, it takes place in the 50s in the original film) but the interesting thing about it is that the original movie has a sequel which the main protagonist (Benji/Gary) actually gets the girl with his friend's (Bobby/Rick) help.

I remember this movie very well from my youth. Funny how time changes perspective. Gary was no victim, but rather made himself available to be victimized. It was like he chased a robber around begging to be robbed, the robber kept turning him down but he insists, so eventually the robber obliges him.

Sometimes, it is not that *simple.*
You do make a good point, on all fronts; in relation to Gary’s arc throughout the whole story of the film.
However; I find the subplot of him ignoring that Rose girl, to be smart writing. While it is technically reasonable for Gary to let go of his crush on Karen and move on with his life and (maybe) find some other girl to meet.
Rose, in particular was not a great choice for him to hook up with. The reason why I say this: is because, Gary *never liked* Rose in the first place.
So it is natural and proper for Gary to maintain at least some self-respect and to not easily fall prey to Rose’s obvious affectionate/feminine charms (or lack there of, ‘cause she is *so annoying* to him whenever they interact to each other) and he, rebuffs her attempts to flirt and hook up with him.

@@davidwhite2671In my community it's called get in where you fit in. It's really corny and stupid to go after a woman who isn't attracted to you. Rose wasn't an unattractive woman she was nerdy and quirky she can easily doll up if you think outside of the box.

    • @davidwhite2671
      @davidwhite2671 10 місяців тому +2

      @@krhawkins91 Maybe.
However, it would not matter because again; Gary *never liked Rose* to begin with.
Just because, Rose “liked” him, that does not mean Gary must like her back (especially, because she mainly wants him to).
So it does not matter whether Rose was “cute” or not or if she gets “dolled up” or not, Gary does not have to chase after Rose, if he does not *want to,* in which I repeat: that is smart writing on Gary’s character arc in the film’s story.
And the fact that Gary overlooks Rose, creates and does spread a positive message to some (or most) members of the audience, if there is someone that you have a crush on and does not like you back and prefers someone else in particular, you should just let the person go and move on and if there is someone else who may have those same feelings of lust *for you* as well, but you don’t reciprocate the same lustful feelings in return, just tell that person straight up; you *are not interested, period* and you just want to be *left alone.*
Which is corny, to say the least. However it does help show and teach those who are like Gary in their own right, to have a little more courage, self-respect, foresight and insight.

      True.
However, in Gary’s defence; just because Rose “liked” him, that doesn’t mean: Gary must reciprocate the same lustful feelings in return, because Rose has a crush on him.
Case in point: Gary should let go of his crush on Karen, as soon as he saw her dancing with Rick and the both of them are having fun together while attending David’s party.
Next: after Gary is shortly introduced to Rose and she starts flirting with him, then asks for a dance, that is when he should firmly and politely, tell her straight up, quote: “no, I am not interested. Thank you.”
Implying; Gary does not want to be with Rose and go out with her. She’ll be hurt for a while, from being rejected by her crush, but eventually; Rose will get over it and him.
Finally: as for Gary; he will continue to do his best to live his life, focus and make improvements on himself to be better/greater and then, Gary will start attracting the girls he wants to be with and that will be that.

All I can say is Bravo! This is one of the best movie video reviews about one of my favorite movies as a teen. I was a Gary. I mean I had friend's like Rick and there were always girls around the Rick's of the world. Sex drives can be overwhelming, but seeing the bigger picture can save toy years of hearache. Your breakdown is exquisite. I do however have to say that being a simp, can go beyond the dating and can lead to a more serious relationship, like marriage. I did have to go thru my problems as a married man, since the whole process can follow you as a "good guy" through problems that can even be worse while being married. My insecurities were so overwhelming that I ended up not even applying the great advice in this video. All I can say is to be yourself, be genuine, but have plenty of healthy self respect, because leaving that solely to another person could make your life very very unfulfilling and filled with resentment. Mine ended up in divorce after afew years. I can tell you that there are no guarantees, however after doing a multitude of self help and personal emotional adjustments of correcting many bad faults, I was able to eventually find a wonderful woman that truly cares & loves me, and not what for what I could just do for them materially or being her service dog. Love yourself, you'll see that you'll find a lot of eventual rejects; but it will be worth it in thr end. Never give up.🙏✌️

As a person however, we all need to go through that one painful experience in life for us to mature. To transition from being a boy to a man.
Here is what I mean. If you were a friend of Gary and you told him he needed to stay away from Karen, he probably wont listen. He was head over heels. But now that he has gone through that heart break, he now has learned an importnant lesson about putting a woman on a pedestal. He will also need to make an important choice in life. He can self-destruct out of the experience, or he can build himself from it. He can choose to hang himself, or he can choose to work out, get a good career and be successful. Sometimes, that one painful thing you go through as a man is what gets you towards the path of success.
Its not so much that he was too nice. It was more of because he was so naive and did not know better. Now he does

LOL Now I realize this film was actually way ahead of its time and kind of profound about dating and shows how being a simp for a girl that clearly is not attracted to you and likes another is very bad. The film was too ahead of its time and people did not know about simping and most movies back then showed this kind of carrying a torch for someone was "romantic". Watching it now, Gary does look creepy as heck and was clearly the toxic "nice guy". Spending your own money to pay for a girls abortion when she was knocked up by his friend is just face palming. It was never his business and his hatred for his buddy was classic being jealous at how easy getting girls was for him.

Gary played himself with Karen, to be competely honest. At the same time, he will go on to have learned the most important lesson to his young life to never become a simp. He graduated from boy/simp to man through this heartbreak. As far as Karen goes, her karma will come in time with Rick. She belongs to the streets

Great breakdown. Don't forget that Rick also had VD from an earlier encounter that Gary also didn't get in on because he wanted Karen and/or he was scared. And then after that, Rick went raw with Karen. She's lucky she didn't get crabs too.

I did chase 1 Karen. She ended up with my friend she spent most of her time complaining about. Live and learn.

The Last American Virgin is a scene by scene almost line by line remake of the Israel film "Lemon Popsicle" from 1978. If you youtube search the ending to Lemon Popsicle you'll see they are exactly the same. Only difference between these two versions is that Lemon Popsicle is set around 1961 or 1962 with mostly late 1950's Rock and Roll Music, and the character's names are different otherwise it's identical even with the same identical ending. Both this version and Lemon Popsicle were written and directed by the same guy who has said it's a true story based off of him as a teenager. Whereas TLAV didn't have a sequel the Lemon Popsicle version had like eight sequel follow-ups featuring character developments of the Gary, Rick, and David characters with the next follow up called "Going Steady" (AKA Lemon Popsicle II) from 1979. That one takes place a few months after LP/TLAV and focuses on the Gary character meeting and dating another new girl named Tammy. In that film Gary does a lot right that he did wrong with Karen and ends up with the girl by the end of the film. Also Rose is dating David but is still crushing on Gary. Rick isn't with Karen anymore who seems to be gone (maybe she moved away, it's never said) instead Rick is just going from one woman to the next at that point but is friends again with Gary. Check out Lemon Popsicle from 1978 and Going Steady from 1979 if you get a chance. I kind of like those versions better then TLAV, but they're all good.
