    Trees can be a problem, but are also useful in situations like this! Good solution to a slippery problem. It’s no fun working when you have a cold - hope you are fully recovered.

      Hodges Towing . I had to look that up - Holmes invented the twin boom truck. One to hold the truck to a tree, and one to pull the vehicle out! Neat - I learned something today 😀

      @@Taid44 It was a very handy setup to pull vehicles up steep banks from very narrow mountain roads.

    For light recovery, like this car, I always used a V chain and use the T or Mini J hooks for hook up.

    Is there any concern about pulling from the wheel rim verse the axle or other tow point? It seems that it could bend the wheel components.

    • @hodgestowingsc
      @hodgestowingsc  2 роки тому +1

      The forces being placed on the alloy rim are minimal in this situation but I would’t be concerned about a harder pull. Most vehicles being built are being built to be tied down by the wheels and tires. With that being said the number of hook point locations are becoming few and far between now.

    God forgive me for feeling like this but tgat would bother me for a person to call someone else first before they called ne fir tow. But i guess the benefit of it is you wilk be their towing service from now on after doing this job. Gid bless and be safe you guys. I think its cool yiu and yiur dad do this together. Both my parents are in heaven now but they are still my angels

      The feeling you get when you do something that no one else around could definitely trumps being called after someone else. 😁

    My f 250 is a 7.3 but i have bully dogged it and pdi kitted it plus put head studs in it with a bully dog turbo kit and it has 550 hp and 800 ft. Lbs. Of torque. It will run with or outrun any diesel pickup kn the road . I got a lot less in my 250 then all them new trucks and my notes are alot cheaper lol. Its a 2001 and has been paid for over 15 years. I wouldn't trade it for 3 new diesel pickups

    Why would anyone want to take a beautiful looking pristine vehicle like that down that horrible muddy road in the first place is beyond me 😩 You guys should keep some gumboots in your truck just for occasions like this 😉

    • @hodgestowingsc
      @hodgestowingsc  4 роки тому +2

      We asked ourselves the same question 😂 the muck boots were ordered right after this job was completed.

    Very bad location, but nice solution to tow the car away from the tree.
    Why don't you let the frontwheels roll during the recovery? I think it would be much easier.
    I'm always concerned that so many vehicles in the USA inside looks like rolling trashbins/wastebuckets...

    • @davidwright640
      @davidwright640 4 роки тому

      Sometimes easier to control direction if the wheels don't roll. Situations are always different.

    • @markevans3027
      @markevans3027 4 роки тому

      One reason is if the cable would break, you would have a roll away car..
